At Essential Designs London, we try to bring the spirit of traditional India into Home Furnishings which keep the handcrafted magic alive but are affordable to everyone to appreciate in their homes. Our products range from up north Kashmir to Western India Rajasthan & Gujarat! We specialise in Kantha bedspreads throws, winter blankets, winter wraps, textile wall decor, sustainable upcycled Silk Kimonos, cushion covers, meditation cushions, handloom rugs, floor cushions. Our company founded in 2008 was a creative edge for Minnie who specialises in Hr & Accounting. The textile enthusiast who was feeling lack of any creative outlet, started small, as it was a tough journey for a person to manage all the ends from production to sales. In 2016, Devika joined as a co-partner to add some vibrancy to the collection. Since 2016, we both manage different ends of the work. We travel thrice a year to India to work closely with artisans. This also allows us to ensure quality standards and also explore all that is new and upcoming. We sit down personally with artisans ensure all the collection is quality checked before reaching the UK. Different artisans are based across Rajasthan in western India. We travel locally spending time at different units, especially the ones in Barmer and Jaipur. Other times of the year we have to rely upon technology which has certainly made it easier to connect with artisans and their specialities. Together, they bring the hard work of the artisans to fruition by making sure that the artisans are fairly paid and have ethical working atmosphere and standards. Our Love for unique Bohemian Spirit can be widely seen in the elements of the products from the collection. We recently launched a limited Clothing segment from up-cycled Sarees to reduce landfills and give way to Slow fashion! We also recently launched the Kashmir segment after coming across a very versatile artisan based in Srinagar. We aim to keep alive the vibe of India world-over and show how our diversity still unites us!

Not a transparent company
Not transparent company. Advertise as silk but it's just reyon material.
I returned my product to them and they are refusing to reply to emails or refund the return
I will be looking at trading standards and/or ombudsmen to get involved
Please don't use this company. They need to invest in better customer service and accurate marketing

Ordered item 22nd November, full payment made that day. Received a receipt and then ... nothing.
Chased on 12th and 13th December. Received a reply saying they would look into it and get back to me in "a few hours".
Nothing.
Chased again .... nothing.
Asked for a refund.
Nothing.
Left a scathing review 20th December, informed them I was pursuing a PayPal refund ... instant response but still can't tell me if item has been despatched.

Appalling Customer Service
Sent two emails and a message via website. Not even the courtesy of a reply. All I wanted to know was whether the returns period is extended to cover Christmas. Have sent the item back (at my expense) without even unwrapping.

I love my dressing gown. I use any excuse tonputnitnon. It looks smart, sophisticated and the material is amazing. It arrived quickly and wrapped well. I would definitely buy from them again!

Lovely product, poor logistics!
First things first - the product is very nice. I would certainly order from here again.
However, I paid extra for express delivery, and nearly a week later had received no confirmation of dispatch. So I emailed to make sure there hadn't been a problem.
I received no reply whatsoever, other than - half an hour after sending my email - a confirmation from the shipping company saying the delivery had finally been scheduled. I can only imagine that my email served as a reminder that my order hadn't been processed and that it was then promptly sent, but the lack of any communication is pretty disappointing.
Quickly ushering the order out the door after realising it's a week late doesn't somehow make it acceptable to charge extra for express delivery and then take nearly a week to send it.

I bought a purple paisley boho-type dress and am really pleased with it. The colours are beautiful, the sewing excellent, beautifully packaged and great delivery. I recommend this company!
