My Council misrepresents itself as an actual council service website! If I could leave zero stars on this review, I would. My Council - which has now changed its name to Your Council - came up in my google search above the actual Sunderland Council website, I mistakenly believed they were somehow associated with Sunderland council and thought my change of address that I made via their page (which cost £16.50) would be updated on Sundered Council’s records. Sunderland Council never received any communication about this and I’m now potentially facing very serious financial consequences regarding backed up council tax charges. Do NOT use this website!

This company is close to a scam! They charge £16.50 to change the address of your TV licence when you can do it yourself online at TV licencing for free, and it's actually quicker and easier at TV licencing website, you actually have fewer details you need to enter compared to this company!
Their website appears in search results above TV licencing's own website where you can do it free! That is partly Google's responsibility and I have contacted them about this also because of that.
The main thing this company should do that they don't is make it VERY CLEAR that they are a 3rd party organisation charging customers for a service that can be achieved by the customer themselves without cost.

Bolton Council Tax Department,

Very disappointing experience with Bolton Council. My Council Tax issue has been ongoing since September 2025 and is still not resolved despite multiple emails, phone calls, and even visiting the Town Hall in person.

I paid £949 on 29 January 2026, which staff confirmed cleared my account. However, on 11 March 2026 my account suddenly showed £934.08 due again. I also received threatening letters about a summons even though I never received a proper bill or email notification.

I have spent nearly one hour on the phone trying to fix this issue, only to be told that my account has still not been updated.

This level of service from a public authority is unacceptable. Residents should not have to chase the council for months to correct what appears to be their internal error.

Scam - you can do for free what they offer such as changing address on TV licence.

Currently pursuing options to reclaim my money as they have breached Consumer Rights act and Consumer Contract Act

Con, charging admin fee for services which are free. Asked for my money back, and if done receive will dispute payment with bank. Reported as fraud to UK nsc website.

Be careful. Fraud, Only use direct Gov council website

Total SCAM!!! Accidentally clicked on the google link instead of the official TV licence site. Didn’t realise and paid £16.50 to change my address. Outrageous as I found out it is free to change your TV licence address & takes no longer to complete the online form as it does on this scam website.

I messaged My Council to ask them to cancel but so far no response. Now to try and get my money back… AVOID AVOID AVOID

I’m guessing I’ve been scammed. When completing the form to change tv licence address there was nothing to say this was a third party.

Charged admin fee to cancel tv licence but never did.
