This company takes advantage of people by locking them into a contract even if they do not agree to it. I requested to cancel within a week via email, and was told that I had to spend time on the phone with them to officially canceled within 28 days, and was unable to get anybody on the phone in that time period. Now, they say that I did not cancel in time. Scam of a company.

Don't waste your money on this company. They are just in it for money and will take anything they get. Being certified for life is NOT certified for life even if you have your CEU. They will not tell you that your certificate is almost up, and they will still make you pay a fee.

While studying for the AFAA-FGI course through NASM, I received an email stating that as of 10/23/23 the course was no longer NCCA accredited. This email was sent the SAME DAY accreditation was lost, no advance notice was given, nor was the option to withdraw from the course and receive my money back. Not to mention the poor clarification revolving around the differences in test-taking including either a PSI proctored or an open book/non-proctored exam. It was not until the day of my scheduled proctored exam, which I was unable to access that I got clarification on the differences between the two and the fact that if I took the non-proctored exam (which I initially thought was just practice exams because 3 attempts were provided) that you could not take the proctored exam. I am only giving this a 2 star because the male representative I spoke to was very kind, and professional, and offered to extend my exam if I wanted to take the proctored version. However, he stated that there was no difference in taking the proctored or non-proctored version of the exam, which should have been communicated initially.

I do not recommend doing business with NASM. While having their certificate might look good, they not only over charge but I recently ran into a situation where I had enrolled in a $299 course to renew my certificate last year. My CPT ended up having expired so no reason to renew the course this year.. I noticed that I recently had a new $299 charge pending to again renew this course though I never got an email reminding me about this upcoming renewal date, I immediately contacted the company to remedy the matter and I also cancelled the course before the charge was even officially withdrawn. Customer service is horrible and will tell you there’s no way for them to refund that money, even given the circumstances stated above!! Absolutely do not recommend doing business with these people! Very poor business practice.

Hi, my name is isidora sorensen reinero. I’ve been having issues with my enrollment since I enrolled back in 2021.
I enrolled gfi course in Spanish (an awful experience). Since I paid for Spanish version they forced me to do my exam in English even tho I enrolled Spanish version and it was stated that I would be able to do my exam in Spanish too, which never happened. Then back in August 2021 I tried again and I went in person to do my exam. They didn’t allowed me to do it. Consider that this 2 attempts weren’t even real attempt either because my exam was in English so obviously I didn’t pass (I studied everything in Spanish) or because they didn’t allow me to present myself to the exam so is shown like that.
I asked for a refund right away in the first attempt but somehow they convinced to not promising that they would resolved my issues that actually it never actually happened.
3rd attempt (that actually was my first one) I didn’t pass because the translation from English to Spanish (exam) was awful. Is translated right away from google translate. I didn’t even comprehend was I was getting asked. I’ve been trying for 2 years to finish this course that’s been haunting for years.
Back to end of 2022 I received an email thatGFI Spanish version wasn’t going to be recognized anymore and I could ask for a refund or to PT certification in English.
From that day I also tried to contact customer service to get a refund or do a PT course (I paid almost $500 that I don’t want to lose).No one answered my emails. I sent probably 3 more emails. Nothing.

Back in July (finally)of that month I got contacted again, not refund was allowed. They allow me do to PT course in English. bUT NOw that I’m able to actually study all over again, and prepare myself for the exam the course is not available!!!!!!

This been my worst nightmare and i waste a lot of money.
I need real solutions, I can’t believe that this course has been such a nightmare when I was really excited to do it.

I'm not even sure the company is legitimate. No one ever told me when my test date was, but now I have to pay $200 to push it out after I just found out about it. I contacted customer service over a month ago, and every time I reach out I get the "someone will respond in 3-4 business days". Nobody has ever responded to me. I called the customer service line for members and was on hold for over thirty minutes until finally, a rude agent answered the call. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone who is looking to get certified.

This is a fraudulent scam company. I paid $200 as a down payment towards three certifications totalling around $1700-$1800. The $200 was to allow a payment plan of seventeen payments. I paid the $200 on 07/16/2023. Within 24 hours, I realized I didn't like the study methods that they gave. Everything they offered was out of a browser based system. Which is fine, not everything is going to work out. They offer a 28 day return period and a refund. What they don't tell is that the refund is based on the total price of the package, minus a ten percent fee. So they don't refund you what you paid, only a refund of the total price minus the fee. So my refund would have only been $25 out of the $200. The total price was around $1700 and ten percent of that is $170. They take that fee from the amount I paid, only refunding $20-$30. Let me make it clear, I didn't access any of the content, zero. I didn't use any of their services. The order was placed 24 hours ago. So they are stealing all of my money for nothing. I gave them $175 for absolutely nothing. This is a massive scam. I contacted my bank and reported. They agreed with me as well as my wife. This is wrong and they should be held accountable. I will be getting my money back any day.

If you can stay clear of them, I would. They offer a 28 day return period and it said we get refunded based on the total amount paid to date, but they will try and scam you over the phone. Don't let them do this to you or anyone else. I will be posting this review on many sites in hopes that others will see this.

Nasm is all about bait and switch. The phone lines are different for prospective customers and current because they treat you completely differently once they have your money. This rating of 4 is faked, the better bb and all other sites have them at a one! They are not giving me reasonable accommodation for my disability and want more money.

I am a licensed massage therapist and so glad I chose a personal training certification through NASM. I was impressed by how thorough the principles and concepts are presented. The updated personal training curriculum puts an emphasis on training basic movements. None of the personal training programs out there (ACE, ISSA, NSCA, etc.) including NASM are perfect, but NASM is likely the best one currently.

Overrated. Too much corrective exercises. Expensive. Nasm trainers usually suck.

I am NASM certified and I run a high end fitness facility. We have seen that trainers that possess and use the skills learned though the CPT course (mainly progressions via the OPT model) build a client base faster, retain clients longer and earn an average of 30k more per year than the trainers we have hired that don't have an NASM certification. In fact, most of the trainers that come in with out NASM, typically enroll in the course within the first year of employment with us, because the difference in training styles is that clear to them and our members.

I just completed my recertification with NASM. Due to COVID restrictions, I didn't make it to any conferences for continuing education. I accessed Club Connect through NASM and was able to do virtual learning from great instructors on topics from neuromuscular stretching to yoga. I highly recommend.

I've completed a handful of courses with NASM and have had nothing but great experiences. Starting with the CPT course, it was well laid out and easy to follow along with the online system. They upgraded the platform with some of the new courses, so having completed their corrective exercise specialist, it was nice to see the newer, more interactive platform that made the learning experience even better. As well, I love seeing research when it comes to why I am doing something, so it was great to see all that was involved in the bibliographies. I can't wait to start my next course (SFC)!

I am so happy I went with NASM to get me personal training certificate. They are well known in the industry and I feel like the education I received was top notch. I loved all the online support that helped me study and pass my test. The learning modules were easy to understand and I especially enjoyed being able to go at my own pace.

I have been in private practice as a chiropractor, naturopathic physician and acupuncturist for over 30 years. I started implementing the NASM Corrective Exercise assessment and exercise protocols about 15 years ago. I highly recommend the CES if you are looking to become more competent at identifying the root cause of musculoskeletal dysfunction and how to address it through exercise. Since implementing this system, I have been more confident and successful at managing common sports injuries as well as preventing the athletes I see from getting injured due to faulty movement patterns and poor biomechanics. If you are looking to up your game with sports injuries and sports performance optimization, I highly recommend the NASM Corrective Exercise Specialization (CES).

If you're even mildly dyslexic, or have a visual learning style - forget it! NASM don't want you or anyone else without a photographic memory to be in this industry. Not to say that those with photographic memory actually understand what they are doing, but understanding is not the objective here - its an extremely intense reading and memory test/game where if you fail - F@*k you, pay me!
I've just completed the CES 3, boiled down, there's only 7 posture distortions you need to know (which could be whittled down to just 4). By referencing a Flow chart you will know what correction programme to recommend. Thats it. Why on earth you need to memorise the name and function of every single muscle, bone, joint, tendon and nerve in the body. Every injury, pathology and treatment procedure outside your scope. Nutrition plans, (yes nutrition planning for corrective exercise) is simply beyond me, because you NEVER use any of it. But if you fail, you'll feel stupid and pay do it again, because people with that kind of memory are not PTs.

I have been in the fitness and human performance industry for over 25 years and NASM has been a HUGE part of my experience. I found NASM back in 1997 and immediately attached myself to the body of knowledge. It filled huge gaps in both my learning and understanding of movement and how to impart that knowledge to my clients. Over the years the model and depth of knowledge NASM offers has only expanded and has both challenged me and improved my ability to assimilate information in the field and utilize it in a systematic way to improve health, fitness and performance of those I work with. I'm a gym owner and I love the NASM model. It keeps my trainers progressing with their clients in a smart and educated way. If we ever need to have a trainer substitute they can pick up easily where the trainer left off by following the model. The best way to train any client. Thank you NASM.

I took the NASM CPT exam. It is a LOT of information! I needed all of the time to study. I remembered from taking the AFAA exam, planned 6 months out and made sure I didn't have any deadlines around that time.

TIP: read the NASM CPT Handbook BEFORE signing up for the program.

I found the new CPT7 online platform EVEN BETTER! There was a dictionary for instant definitions, videos, practice test, and much more. I could see my progress and see what else needed to be done, it was helpful to block out my study time. In addition, there's a free blueprint of topics covered on the exam and a study guide. I emailed their student success email address when I really couldn't understand or needed clarification on a concept. I watched NASM CPT Podcast on YouTube with Rick Richey. The week before the exam, I took a practice exam every other day.

Because the nearest in person test location was an hour away, I took it virtually at home on my computer. I scheduled my exam 5.5 months out. That was lucky as something came up and I had to reschedule my exam. Since I did it more than 24 hours in advance, I was able to do it for free & there were plenty of times. I was anxious about having tech issues but my proctor was extremely helpful and kind, it was a relatively easy experience.

The CPT exam was also not as bad as I feared. The test didn't ask for definitions per se, it asked for application of the information in an exercise setting and deeper understanding of the concepts. I think the information it asked overall were important to know as a personal trainer. Off the top of my head, the different stages/reps/tempos/etc. of the OPT model, OSHA, under & over active muscles, postural distortions, balance mechanisms, and behavioral changes.

Being a certified NASM CPT gives me instant credibility at any gym I walk into and a way to be in fitness full time without putting too much stress on my body.

The experience was stressful and challenging, took time & effort however I am extremely satisfied with my end result.

I normally never write reviews, but I wanted to share my experience with NASM/AFAA. Primarily, I am thankful for the resources to study for the exams. I have taken the AFAA GFI and NASM CPT exams, and I was most impressed with the study tools. I am in education, and using the exam blueprints were the most helpful in knowing what to study. I have tried other organizations, and their resources were not as easy to follow in an organized way. While the content was challenging, the tools provided made the process much easier. I have progressed to other courses from NASM (such as the corrective exercise) based off of this experience.
