Sailchecker was great
Sailchecker was great, reasonably priced, and very responsive to all of our questions. It was our first time chartering in Greece and the options were overwhelming - especially given that we really weren't sure how dealing with local operators would be. When we found Sailchecker, it made the whole process much easier, and gave us a peace of mind that we had someone else to arbiter on our behalf if needed. In the end, the operator we worked with, Sea Star Sailing, was absolutely fantastic and 100% we'd work with them again - and we learned, they only operate through a broker, for largely the same reason as why we went through Sailchecker. We're thrilled that Sailchecker operates internationally, so wherever in this world we'd like to sail, we know who to go to.

High Quality Customer Service
We were introduced to SailChecker through a friend of ours that had booked with them a catamaran charter in the Greek islands in 2019 and had a terrific time. Their boat was a Bali 5.4 with a permanent crew on board. We decided to do the same as we were going to be a family with 3 kids and we needed some extra space and comfort. Our initial booking was for 2020, but unfortunately, we couldn't travel due to covid-19 related restrictions. Chris and Kate helped us reschedule our charter easily and securely, and we just got back from an amazing holiday. Already working with Kate on a charter for December 2021 in the Caribbean.

We were only looking for luxury crewed catamarans in Croatia, where it's more difficult to negotiate better terms, however Kate and her team did a great job.

Company ripped us off $2400
We used this company to book a sailing trip in Croatia in May 2020. There were 4 of us girls taking a trip of our lifetime. Well, Covid happened. The company allowed us to rebook the following year. 30-45 days prior to May 2021, the borders were still closed due to Covid, so we tried to rebook, the wouldn't let us. They also wouldn't give us any of our money back. It's disgusting considering this was a global pandemic that was not our fault. We are out $2400!!! Do NOT use this company
*In response to their counter - not sure what they are talking about. We didn't have time to get insurance as the pandemic hit w/o notice. Most insurances didn't cover the pandemic anyway. They did not try to settle with us - we asked for a rebook next year and they said no. We asked to meet in the middle and give us 50% of our money back and they said no. They kept our entire $2400. That is what is not fair - not my review!

We appreciate that you have updated your review. We have rescheduled 100's of charters over the pandemic, there are difficult and complex matters to be resolved and hope you enjoyed having experts to advise and negotiate for you. I feel your review does not focus on the advisory service we provide.
We did not cancel your charter, nor retain any funds as you claim and we have asked Trustpilot to remove this review as it damages our reputation and is manifestly untrue. Your operator offered a reschedule to this charter on numerous occasions, something we can evidence on request.
Your charter agreement with the operator lapsed (not an agreement with us) as you made the decision not to pay their second instalment after it became due; this ultimately led to the loss of your deposit over which we had no control and contrary to our repeated advice to settle. The same advice we have given to many clients who have gone on to enjoy their charters.
The Global pandemic was not anyone's "fault", including your operator. You choose not to take any travel insurance (the lead guest signed accordingly) for a complex trip.
Your operator does not cover the effects on your travel plans. Insurance covers the risk of an unexpected event. You are correct, you would not be able to take out insurance for something that has already happened, you needed to do it prior to the risk you are insuring against occurs.

It's a very difficult time for everyone. We do remind all our clients, on the behalf of their operator, what is covered and what is not and warn to cover travel risks through adequate insurance.
We don't deliver our clients to the Insurance Industry at the first opportunity. We have a reputation for fighting for our clients' interests and through the International Federation of Yacht Charter we helped found, we were at the heart of holding the charter industry to account throughout the pandemic.
If you could not travel due to Government Advice and your account was up to date, we guarantee that your charter would have been rescheduled.
We use our award winning experience and knowledge to help customers find the perfect charter with our advice and support.
On review we cannot see what we could have done more to support you. Saying to avoid us is very unfair. We worked tirelessly to find a solution. We know from our cross-industry work that the outcome would have been the same if you had booked direct or through any other agent.
We simply could not, for the very first time, find a solution with your operator. All clients are required to settle outstanding invoices to gain access to generous goodwill packages. As you would not settle, you operator cancelled your charter after many warnings.
The pandemic has effected both our clients and operators, yet operators did ask you to take adequate insurance to cover the risks of not being able to travel.
As you can see from our other reviews, our service is extremely personal. We take extra effort to ensure that these situations do not happen by being open, honest, and transparent. We lead our industry in this regard.
We understand the frustrations of spoiled travel plans, we remain here if you wish to take up the operator's offer of a reschedule should you be unable to travel.

Sailchecker save the day again!
We have booked bareboat through Sail Checker several times. Kate is so thorough and is always available to help find your ideal boat. We just returned from Seychelles and found all the covid measures to be really good, sending temperatures daily to base and all the snorkelling gear sterilised, masks were provided as well as gloves and gel.
We feel very comfortable booking through Sailchecker, they are now our go to when we are sailing. We booked this trip at absolutely the last minute due to ongoing uncertainty, it was glorious to get away for a while.

5 star service and experience. Sailchecker were amazing from start to finish.
Kate is very informative and personable & Chris is an amazing host and skipper.
We sailed the Ionian Islands from Lefkas. The trip was smoothly run and very enjoyable!
The boat we sailed was the Magnum Opus part of the Blue Eternal fleet and it was nothing short of amazing. Such a treat to be on board a beautiful vessel and the locations we visited were out of this world. I would highly recommend this kind of trip for sailing to see insane turquoise blue seas and secluded beaches.

Spellbinding experience!
An amazing sailing trip with Sailchecker as always, I’d never book with anyone else.
We had a crewed Lagoon cat in the Ionian Islands and it was spellbinding. The experienced skipper Chris took us to the most beautiful bays with turquoise water and we were able to explore and see places it just wouldn’t be possible to find on a standard hotel holiday.
We stayed on the magnificent Magnum Opus which was true luxury. Plenty of room to sunbathe as well as to operate everything while sailing, with top quality finishes.
Our chef Kim made the most wonderful food and took care of everything so we could focus on enjoying an unforgettable experience. My next trip can’t come quick enough!

Amazing Sailing Experience!
I've just come back from an amazing 5 day sailing break around the Ionian Islands booked through SailChecker and couldn't recommend this company any more!
We sailed on the Magnum Opus, a 2020 Lagoon 50 Catamaran, and opted to have our boat fully crewed which included a professional Skipper and Chef.
As I've never sailed before I was a little nervous at first, however our Skipper was clearly well-experienced and comfortable which quickly put my mind at rest. Food on-board was amazing and our chef did a great job at catering to our groups dietary requirements without compromising on choice or flavour.
The boat was comfortable with luxury finishes and lots of space on board, the sea was smooth and the views were beautiful. We had the opportunity to do some paddle boarding and lots of swimming in the crystal blue waters, as well as visit some secluded beaches where we snorkeled and sunbathed.
I'd definitely recommend booking a sailing holiday with SailChecker and can't wait for my next!

Just back from a lovely short sailing…
Just back from a lovely short sailing break in the Ionian sea booked through Sailchecker.
We sailed on Magnum Opus – a beautiful Lagoon 50 (50 foot) Catamaran built in 2020. Whilst you can book a bareboat charter, our small group had opted for the luxury of a professional skipper (as a number of the group were not experienced sailors) in fact we went all in and also opted for a live in chef, so we were really spoilt! We flew Easyjet from Gatwick to Preveza the flight took around 3 ¼ hours and was on time – our transfer to Lefkada marina was well organised and quick (about 30 minutes). The boat was amazing – there was a huge amount of space on board (I have previously only sailed in monohulls) and the design has an ‘outside in’ feel (think grand designs) there is a large opening at the back of the central saloon. The cabins, bathrooms, lounge area were all luxurious. We were treated to great weather, fantastic mooring locations, and of course great food, both on the boat and on shore – we visited a number of nice friendly tavernas and enjoyed shopping at a couple of ports. Our skipper, Chris was well informed, he knew the area and the boat well and we had a lovely relaxing time. The water is beautiful and we swam every day. We found some quiet white sandy beaches, caves and of course plenty of great Greek hospitality. Thoroughly recommended.

Accessible/resourceful/helpful
Kate at Sailchecker was just great to deal with.
I made an enquiry about sailing in Croatia and she gave me a number of options, none of which I wanted to commit to because of COVID and the potential of having to isolate if Croatia went on the no-go list.
Sure enough it did but I spoke to Kate out of hours and within 24 hours she had three options to sail in Turkey.
We booked and paid and apart from Kate special mention should be made of the charter company - Pitter - who were also brilliant and easy to deal with.

Kate at SailChecker was brilliant. Very responsive, good communication and very attentive - even on Sundays. SailChecker had great prices overall. I will definitely be contacting them for a quote for future charters.
Only feedback is that the flotilla leader didn’t have our contact number so was unable to get in touch to discuss arrangement prior to arrival. This may not have been Sailchecker’s fault though.
Very thoughtful interaction with Sailchecker via WhatsApp group through vacation. Need to consider that some people may not want their personal numbers visible to other people though.

Awesome help re-arranging our COVID disrupted plans
In March, we booked a boat for 2 months in 2021 through Kate at Sailchecker and paid our 50% deposit literally days before a global pandemic was declared. With all the continuuing uncertainty about world travel, and with NZ (our home) currently having closed borders, we recently decided we had no choice but to postpone our trip until 2022. We were worried that we may lose our deposit and have problems but Sailchecker quickly transferred our booking and deposit to 2022. We were so grateful and relieved (it's a lot of money). Thanks so much Kate for making this difficult situation so easy and painless, we can't wait to sail with you in 2022.

Sailchecker organised a last minute trip to Turkey. Got good rates and were very efficient. Company who owned boat and personnel were excellent. New Boat was perfect too- although we did find some small manufacturers defects. No big deal.
