TV license staff, no clue!

I received a letter from tv licensing stating that my address did not have a licence! When I tried to call about it, I was met with data mining questions and told we need this info to sort your question out.

Why am I getting letters saying my address is not licensed, (I've been paying for 5 years).

If you are telling me your system is wrong you owe me 5 years worth of licensing fee.

They took me to Crown court!!

They took me to Crown court for not having a licence in a house i didnt live at regardless to the truck load of evidence i had inc a tenants agreement for my landlord at the time! The judge threatened to have my kids taken off me and alsorts, told my partner she wasnt at a cattle market because she raised her hand to ask a question (shed never been in a court room) all for me to owe them sweet F.A !!!!! Why does the bbc have authority in our tv viewing!?!?

The Great British RIP off

The BBC should be ashamed of their TV Licensing set up. I cancelled my DD and called them to declare this officially. I was met with patronising, condescending arrogance. I had to answer lots of ridiculous questions so that I understood what I was allowed to do with my viewing habits under the fascist regime of the TVL support. It took a total of 28 minutes on the phone to do this. How do they have the right? Something should be done about this. It's a total disgrace. Trustpilot .. have a 0 score rating available please. That's what this shambles of a company deserve. Awful.

What a crap website

What a crap website, not user friendly unless you wish to pay.
Wanted to update details regarding my licence and the only option the site gave me was to cancel current licence with a telephone number to do this before I could proceed.

Great Customer Service

Spoke to a lovely, helpful lady called Ferida (sorry if the spelling is wrong) I explained that I only watch Netflix, Prime, Paramount etc so she went ahead and cancelled my licence and also helped me get a refund. Excellent service. Thank you 😊

i never plan to watch the garbage on terrestrial tv or whatever it's called! you mail me every 2 months to ask me if my circumstances have changed?? please leave me alone, i pay for streaming platforms. You threaten to send me your agents, i go on your site to tell you i dont need to pay and your site is down.. God help us

Absolutely disgusting

Absolutely disgusting. Every year they harass me over something i don’t even see any value in or want. How is it legal?

And this year it’s even more aggressive than normal, that letter - the online form is deliberately difficult too, clearly to confuse and scare our older folk.

Vile.

Waste of taxpayer money

Email me every year to check “if my circumstances change”. They haven’t but they won’t stop harassing me customer service is useful and think of the millions of taxpayer money on spam mail.

Also you can opt out of license under UK law but they make it so hard to do so on the website because they care more about ripping you off.

Free eligibility for TV license and the bureaucratic system …

Free eligibility for TV license is over 75 and getting pension credit (DWP) Given the age criteria and majority are not internet or IVR systems savvy are failed by the system. Given the criteria dependency on DWP there needs to be simple process to support the elderly than make them go between TV licensing and DWP departments. Might be an idea for them to come up with a seemless process on TV licensing side to support this to help with DWP pension credit application than wait weeks for a form that never arrives and yes GRPR privacy etc important but seems the whole system is very bureaucratic and they just hiding behind it. Make it easier for the elderly. Social services should help but seems they make life harder than easier for the elderly and only interested in finances without helping navigate everyday needs like this licence issue. Sending a chaser in a red envelope by TV licenses my is not a good idea at all. Ted equates to urgent danger and causes stress.

No customer Service

I changed banks and had to inform them of change . Also decided to pay monthly. It is impossible to speak to anyone. I must have wasted 5 hours trying to sort this out
Eventually I decided to cancel my licence, I was then transferred to a phone line, which after 25 minutes no one answered. I then raised a complaint and someone emailed me with a form which has to be signed and returned. As I have no printer this isn't going to work for me either😩

Absolute rip off typical rip of britain

Absolute rip off and all you are doing is lining the fat cat bosses pockets. Goes up every year but same old crap repeat after repeat. Waste of time buying TV times you might as well pick up one from 6 years ago or thurther and it will be the same crap from which I watched 50 years ago. Don't watch TV or news as news always about other problems in other countries so what sky / netflix and prime but as like everyone else have to pay full price for TV licence even though no TV aerial or watch live TV. Typical of this country making you pay several times over and over again for absolute rubbish. Don't see how as well when two Ronnie's can be live stream when one of them is dead plus step toe and son when they are dead also and half the cast from carry on are dead

Dislike their aggressive tone in correspondence

Same as lots of people on here – my property was empty as I was moving there in a couple of months. When I arrived, had lots of threatening letters. I phoned them and told him I didn’t appreciate the tone in their letter. When I arrived on the 21st of December, I bought a TV license then when I got the notification, it said it was due to be renewed on the 30th of November 2026 – when I query this they said they only start theirs from the first – so I said I’ve got to pay for three weeks license when I didn’t need one – they said yes! No other organisation would be able to get away with this. Paying for something you haven’t had - disgusting and nothing you can do about it.

I do not watch or download live TV

I do not watch or download live TV, I do not use BBC player. Yet despite checking no on EVERY box on the TV Lisencing questionnaire, it tells you that you still need a lisence. This follows more threatening letters from them. An absolute disgrace, certainly legally questionable.I try to call them many times and all the time they hang up on me without even starting conversation. Looking foward to seeing the end of this organisation and the BBC!

I Cannot wait to see TVL collapse. Who gives a damn about the BBC? We are paying for then to push out their own agendas. Why the hell would I pay £157 to watch BBC or live Tv? Live Tv is crap. Online services have a better variety. F the BBC. Bullsh*t British Channel.
