Beware of sneaky, expensive auto renewals.
Beware of sneaky, expensive auto renewals. I was charged 4x the amount I paid last year for my annual renewal! Their "reason" is they've made substantial upgrades. They offer less service than others that cost less than half the price.
I spent over an hour online with their support to reduce this charge. The first person I got was no help, I insisted on speaking with a manager/supervisor. I ended up renewing, only because I was in a panic and didn't want to lose my site. I will not be renewing again with them. This isn't the first time this has happened to me.

By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Have used them for years as they were inherited into our system, I'm getting out of here. I don't know how they're going to survive the next few years, absolutely atrocious service. Emails get banned and not receiver because they don't have proper servers setup, etc etc etc. Just horrible.
Long-time customer. Glad I've left
Long-time customer here, who has recently switched to a new provider. Netfirms has consistently raised their prices, while degrading their service. Their support is basically non-existent. Switching to a new provider was so incredibly eye-opening. I should have switched years ago. Thanks to AI, the whole process was seamless. If you're on the fence, leave. There are so many better providers! Save your money and your energy!
I used Netfirms to register my domains…
I used Netfirms to register my domains for about 15 years and all was fine until recently. Without notice they added a function that required you to verify your web site. We never received any notification of this and suddenly found our web site to be down. After logging in to Netfirms I saw that you needed to click a button to verify your site and an email would be sent to confirm. Well the email never came so I tried to reach out to customer support. Well, Netfirms no longer has a support number or an email address. The only way to get support is through an AI chat bot. After wasting time with the AI bot, it finally tells you that it will connect you to a human. So you wait and finally get to chat with a human(?) but probably still AI. They were unable to fix the issue to sending me a confirmation email nor could they get our site up and running. It’s been down for a week now and they have not been giving updates except for no reply emails saying they’re working on it
Will be transferring all of our domains to another company ASAP. It seems like they fired all their employees and decided to run the company with AI. I highly recommend not using this company for anything. If you need any help you can forget about getting any from Netfirms. Stay away from Netfirms at all costs. They have gone downhill over the years and can’t be trusted anymore
No customer service whatsover.

Been with them many years. Now nothing but problems and price hikes.Shady overseas company. No phone# and no email to contact.Horrible to deal with.
Customer service is useless and aggravating as can be.ongoing emails of steps for you to try and get nowhere.
Years of Loyalty, Zero Value: My Netfirms Experience 2
I went in this morning to write up a review for netfirms from where I had just migrated all of my services to another provider and saw the previous review and could not have said it any better. So here goes...I’ve been with Netfirms for many years—far longer than I should have. Unfortunately, the service has declined to the point where staying no longer makes sense. Support has become almost unusable. It takes nearly 15 minutes just to verify your identity, and because their platform still lacks a functional cPanel, even basic tasks require contacting support.
And when you finally reach someone, the experience is more about upselling than actually helping. The frustration doesn’t end there. At renewal time, they increased my pricing far beyond what’s listed on their own website, then tried to frame it as a “discount.”
After years of loyalty, it’s clear they’ve lost their way. Do yourself a favour: run—don’t walk—away from this provider.

You're on your own, no further support
Customer service says they can do nothing to help. Simply read what's already there. Won't use their service again nor will I recommend. Just ridiculous that there's no one to do anything other than read a script and not offer a long time customer any further support. I will never use, nor recommend again.
Terrible email host company
Terrible email host company. Consistently unable to send to anyone with a gmail account. Had to change to another hosting company after 13 months but had a 3 yr plan. Of course, they won't issue a prorated refund. Look elsewhere!
It is very frustrating
It is very frustrating, and you’re not alone — many long-time Netfirms customers have reported the same issues over the last few years:
Support numbers not working
Chat support giving copy-paste answers
Price increases without clear notice
Overall service quality declining
If you’re planning to renew for one more year and then move away, here are a few suggestions to make the transition smoother:
✅ 1. Before Renewing
Make sure you have:
Full backup of your website files
Full database backup (if you use WordPress, Joomla, etc.)
A copy of your DNS records
Backup of your email accounts, if hosted through Netfirms
This will save you a lot of trouble when switching hosts later.
✅ 2. Consider Better Alternatives
These are popular and usually far more reliable than Netfirms:
Budget / Easy-to-use
SiteGround – great support, good performance
Bluehost – beginner friendly
A2 Hosting – very fast for the price
More advanced / higher reliability
Cloudways (DigitalOcean/Vultr)
Hostinger Business Plan
DreamHost
All of these have active customer support, unlike Netfirms.
✅ 3. Watch for Automatic Renewal Traps
Netfirms is known for:
Auto-renewing before customers expect
Charging higher renewal fees without alerting customers properly
So before renewal:
Turn off auto-renew in your account (if allowed)
Set a reminder for the renewal date
Screenshot your dashboard and pricing (Netfirms support sometimes disputes charges)

Persistent Technical Failures and…
Persistent Technical Failures and Institutional Negligence
As a long-standing customer of Netfirms (a Newfold Digital brand), I am compelled to report a sustained pattern of technical negligence, evasive support practices, and serious breaches of service obligations.
Since August 5, 2025, my domain has suffered from a server-side firewall misconfiguration that blocks verified Googlebot access—resulting in measurable SEO degradation, traffic loss, and reputational harm. Despite providing replicable diagnostic logs, timestamps, and request IDs generated directly by Newfold’s infrastructure, the support team has repeatedly requested redundant data and failed to execute basic validations.
Most concerningly, DNS records under Newfold’s control were altered without authorization, granting third-party access to my Google Search Console property. This constitutes a breach of privacy and a potential violation of consumer protection and data integrity laws in both the U.S. and Mexico.
To date, I have received only evasive and non-credentialed correspondence. No signed acknowledgment of breach, no technical audit, and no corrective action have been provided.
Documented damages now exceed USD $15,000. Formal filings are active with ICANN, FTC, PROFECO, and BBB, with escalation to ICPEN underway.
Based on my experience, Newfold Digital’s infrastructure has proven unstable, and its support practices—while outwardly polite—are procedurally obstructive and legally indefensible. I strongly advise any business or consumer considering Newfold Digital services to exercise extreme caution.
After 20 years it's time to move
I have been using Netfirms for at least 20 years, and now I think it's time to find a new host. My site goes up and down like a yo-yo. It takes 10 to 20 seconds to go from one simple page to another. My Wordpress admin panel has been complaining about the ancient version of PHP that Netfirms is using and Netfirms just tells me for months that they will have a newer PHP version in a few weeks. At this point my site is about worthless to me. I just chatted with a tech who just told me wait until the end of next month to see a PHP update to a secure version. Ugh... Time to find a new host.
my website is down most of the time
my website is down most of the time, and to each issue it will take months to be fixed, moving outside netfirms
Horrible Company with customer service…
Horrible Company with customer service in India and they don't care. My recommendation is you stay far far away and never use their services
Terrible Hosting Service... No Refund
I purchased an annual plan for web hosting with Netfirms (a simple wordpress page)
$182.77
My site crashed consistently every month, multiple times, more than 12 times, and wouldn't load when using it on mobile.
It was the worst experience for hosting I've had, so I moved to cancel it with Netfirms. No refund.
Don't let customer support convince you that they can help you or increase bandwidth in hosting. They can't do anything to fix this issue unless they have access to server infrastructure and hardware that drives their hosting service -- and of course they don't.
Netfirms discontinued hosting for 2 of…
Netfirms discontinued hosting for 2 of my business websites. they are currently trying to re-sell my domains for hundreds of dollars after locking me out.
Now I have been trying for over a week to transfer my remaining domains, and they WILL NOT send me the EPP codes to transfer. I can't update my contact info, they're system is buggy at best and this company will rape you, and then steal your domain.
Netfirms worst web hosting company ever
I have been with Netfirms for years. Last summer I decided to migrate to another service provider. Why? Netfirms kept increasing prices exponentially. They also overcharged for services not received, double billed, and when contacted, did nothing, said my fault. Billing doesn’t show domain it applies to, can track anything. Web site and services don’t work often. Changes to domains not implemented, or locked. Worst web hosting company ever. Support is useless. Extreme frustration dealing with them. Trapped as a customer
This is quite honestly the very worst…
This is quite honestly the very worst customer service I have ever experienced.
I've been with Netfirms since 2008...sortign out my escape
