I have used Netfirms for over ten…

I have used Netfirms for over ten years. As an inventor I would register URLs for upcoming inventions. So I have multiple accounts with multiple names. Until they eliminated phone support the service was great. Since switching to text support they are terrible. Way too much time to get help in logging in. I have my user names and passwords on a sheet of paper by my computer because who can memorize hundreds of them. Then I attempt to log in and it doesn't recognize the user names and passwords. They will work for about a week and then they don't. Then spend over a half an hour resetting usernames and passwords again. I'm going to let my URLs expire. I've changed my credit cards so they won't auto renew. I highly recommend NOT using Netfirms. The people try to help but just can't seem to. They're nice and polite but I will NEVER use them again. What was a great experience is now too frustrating.

I have had a horrible experience with…

I have had a horrible experience with them. I have been with them for about 15 years and am now leaving because of absolutely terrible customer service and experience. Now, I cannot even transfer my domain because the Auth Code is not transferring. Is it even legal not to give me the Auth code? DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.

No longer worth it...

I was a Netfirms customer for more than 15 years. Now there are too many issues to keep persevering with their services.

I manage 2 small WordPress websites and have been getting security warnings to update to a newer version of PHP for months. Netfirms latest version of PHP is 7.4! When I try to update from v 7.3 my websites crash. Moving to a new provider I upgraded PHP to v8.1 with no issues and no changes to my websites which are always updated to the latest versions of plugins and themes etc.

Further, the following recent experiences ALL required support intervention with online chat because the control panel self service administration did not work.

Unable to renew domain names because the cart didn't work, this required multiple online chat sessions
Unable to update admin contact information
Unable to transfer domain because the authorization code could not be generated from the control panel
Unable to close the account.

Netfirms used to be good. Now it's beyond poor. There is no value for money and customer service quotes "company policy" when denying refund requests for poor service.

I can’t even renew my payment .

I can’t even renew my payment .. they keep telling me it’s my bank and my bank is telling me it’s them.. I know it’s Netfirms this site is the only site giving me an issue to update my visa payment .. w.t.f I can’t even have access to my web hosting all the time I put into making the site for what??

What no 0 star?

No 0 star? Once a great company now no longer relevant. They charged domain renewal fee even after account set to Expire way before the Auto renew date. Contacted Support and refuse to make the chargeback to my card even though they are 100% in the wrong. Very bad customer service policy.

Not really sure how to describe what their customer service is like. If you ask them what 2+2 is you will get an answer like 534. I think the company has shut down but leaves the auto-renews in place and has one person who tries to answer questions, but in my experiences, they never understand the question, never have an answer and incessantly
keep asking you dumb questions and providing erroneous suggestions. This appears to not be a real company anymore. Been using them since 2006 or so.

Their phone number only has a message stating phone systems are down. After a few years that message in reality is saying "screw you sucker".

After 20 YEARS of using Netfirms… I'm leaving.

After almost 20 YEARS of using Netfirms I am CLOSING my account.

I have experienced numerous user-interface issues which cost me hundreds of dollars because something is showing cancelled on one screen and not on another screen...

It feels increasingly and intentionally misleading which benefits them at our expense.

Or recently, that sending an Auth-Code by email 'could take up to an hour' when I am transferring out a domain.

Trying to get the mis-charged money back took me over three hours to only receive a pittance back.

YOU and I have a lot better things to do with our time than try to get money back or completely transfer out of their service. I had enough and suggest you find a better, honest service provider.

People on chat are clueless

People on chat are clueless. Wasted an hour and then got told to fill out a form without any explanation of how to do so.
I honestly do not expect and answer. All I am trying to do is change my contact info. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL

I wish there was a negative number, This is the worst company. DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY, There is no contact other than the CHAT and that will be with someone in another country, That person will never admit that this company makes mistakes and will not use common sense to try and keep your business. They follow a script and the customer is always WRONG. BE WARNED NOW,
Also, there is no option on their web site to close your account, so once they have your domain, they will not give it back!

Terrible every step of the way - run away

Terrible every step of the way.

My emails stopped sending to many providers and they wouldn't be honest about why: they were on a blacklist.

Then they gave me info to change DNS. It worked for awhile and then stopped. When I contacted them again they told me it was the "wrong info" (even though I still had the email they had sent me telling me it was correct).

After all this, I decided this week to transfer all my URLs and hosting elsewhere. Went through the simple process of transferring where they send a code to my email...code never got there. Not for any of the transfer attempts.

Did customer service, they don't know what's going on.

So Netfirms is so terrible they won't even let you leave once you're done with them. I've filed a fraud complain with FTC since they are holding my domains hostage illegally. Worst company ever.

And now they're not even letting me transfer my domains. I've reported their fraudulent practices to FTC and suggest you do the same.

They Gave Me a Web Account I Never Asked For

I used Net firms for a good 15 years just to host my pictures and have simple graphics for my Ebay page. I have a webpage with links to my ebay name showing different craft items. It was made in 2004 and never changed. It does work and sends people to my ebay page but I am now not active selling on Ebay(Retired but I keep my name as I buy).

I want to keep my webpage but I do not know anything about webdesign. The page was made up years ago by a family member.

I want to keep my name but as a retired person the price has gone a little high for a hobby craftier.

Net firms is charging me $200.04 this February to renew. 89.98 for the SSL security which I just found is not on my site, and 21.99 for my name. Two cows was the company I original signed up with my web name.

One other thing I want to Bring up. Net firms added unknown to me this year January 3rd,2024 an additional website on my account with my name but has it as .online. The customer service person said it is free for 1 year then I have to pay for it. I told him I do not want it and remove it and he said he could not as it has to expire. I see no bill for it until next year of 49.99 listed and web privacy of 14.99 listed for next year. This to me is fraud at the worst!

I told him I never asked for it. Why would a company even do such a thing? I am so angry!

I have 1 website that was suppose to cost 119.88 listed under my account but under renew they list it as $200.04.

I wonder if they added a 2nd account to up the price on an unsuspecting older person who rarely goes into her account?
I asked to be downgraded to a plus account which is 59.00 or so and he said he could not do it. He told me the prices were out of his hands.

Netfirms used to be reasonably decent

Netfirms used to be reasonably decent. Support has dwindled to the point where if you need it, set aside an hour for wait times while the attendant deals with other customers. After a dozen years with them, without notice I was surprised they nearly doubled the cost of a three year plan citing technology and ironically, support costs. Easy to see why their trustpilot rating is n0w so low.

Negative reviews are accurate

All of the negative reviews here are accurate IMO. I've been with Netfirms Canada for over two decades. Today I'm embarrassed to know they're a Canadian company, because they have gone so far downhill and are acting dishonorably. Trying to obtain your AUTH codes for transferring domain names out of Netfirms is an exercise in extreme frustration. They do not provide your AUTH codes on their website like reputable hosting companies do. You must request an email to obtain your AUTH code, and they say it 'may take up to an hour' to receive the email, but of course it never comes. So you must contact support and they will ask you 'why are you transferring your domains away from Netfirms?', like they're entitled to know your business. I was finally able to get 135 domain names transferred away (we switched to CanSpace which has been excellent) but there are still a few that we haven't received our AUTH codes for yet. Still waiting for those emails approx. two weeks later. They're holding our codes hostage as far as I'm concerned. Very sketchy people now. They never used to be like this.

AVOID NETFIRMS AT ALL COSTS.

I wish I could give them zero stars

1. They doubled my price for Netfirms (from $107.40 to $200.20) for absolutely NO REASON, the plan even lists the price as $107.40 yearly
2. When I contacted support regarding this issue, they just kept copy-pasting standard responses about "rising expenses" which makes no sense, because the amount I'm being charged is nearly double what I'm getting billed for, I've been with them for 3 years

After 15 years with netfirms they decided to jack up web hosting by $100. They sell sites to spammers and I had numerous problems over the past few years with my emails being rejected because of spam from other sites they host. Generally their sites do not respond that fast. I was reluctant to change because I haven't kept up my web skills with all the changes in tech. But lousy service, long waits for chat support convinced me to look elsewhere. I highly recommend going with chemicloud where chats are responded to almost immediately and support issues are resolved quickly. chemicloud is highly rated for a reason. Netfirms was bought out by EIG and now its just tack on every fee possible. For what 1 year renewal would cost, I got 3 years of hosting at chemicloud.

Failed support and poor communications

Trying to communicate with them has become a pain. The direction Netfirms has gone with customer communications is bad. Chat systems as firewalls make people angry. There is a need for Netfirms to re-assess their communication strategy if they want to stay in business.

I am in the process of leaving Netfirms for a variety of reasons. I am considering a FTC complaint as well given their financial practices.

The change to going to “chat” for support has been useless for me. All bots and chat systems firewall a company from problems but make customer service more difficult. Netfirms puts underwhelming people for frontline support, and they have no power to fix anything. Scripts that have no depth and resulting actions cannot fix their system problems. There are no ITSM practices in place, and it seems communications are just designed to perturbed the client so they go away. (Worldcom practices) Even false statements were given to deny access, and statements that “support managers” are just as useless as the support person the client is talking to. Netfirms denies their support people tools to fix even their failed applications are causing problems. I, as owner, could not get the admin contact information to change after months of trying with the support team.

I have spent months trying to resolve issues with them. The "bot"/Chat world of failure. Nothing but incompetence through Netfirms support team. It appears that Netfirms is using an Indian firm with restricted tools and constant excuse for why they cannot fix what is broken with Netfirms systems. They are likely helpless with the constraints on them. The support team could not do anything more than what I could do and they refused all other actions. When pushed, the form to request escalation did not work and they could not do anything about it. …Another failure.

The support Netfirms offers has plummeted to be unviable. Their support is incapable of simple requests to manage an account. I do not recommend to my clients to do business with Netfirms.
