I had it for a little while and no problems then suddenly it started asking me to verify myself to do transactions and it refused to transfer my money a few times then talked about how a card could not be removed because it's a back up payment for McDonald's, Since when does venmo work for McDonald's payments processing center???? I closed that account quickly and cut the card immediately.

I sent a $100 deposit through Venmo to Venmo user @mmayi also known as MagicK M . After payment, the terms were changed and a refund was refused. Venmo declined to help since it was marked as friends & family, leaving me with no protection! What a very disappointing experience ! There should be clearer safeguards and warnings before sending money.Please use with caution! I was completely scammed by a woman on Venmo with username @mmayi aka MagicK M and Venmo completely refused to help me to get a full refund of my money from her or to discipline/ ban this con artist. Venmo wouldn't even permit me to use buyer's protection ! Venmo is the absolute worst ,corrupt ,and incompetent business entity to ever exist ! I would give them 0 stars if this was possible because they don't even deserve 1 ! Please take your business elsewhere because Venmo blatantly takes the side of swindlers like @mmayi ! Please don't become a victim like me, and be sure to avoid @mmayi like the plague ! She will rob you of all of your money and since Venmo are also a bunch of criminals and low-lifes they will take the side of the fraudster as opposed to the customer !

Venmo’s dispute system is extremely frustrating and unreliable.

I submitted a claim for an item that was clearly not as described — defective, poor quality, and completely different from what was advertised. I provided full evidence: photos, communication attempts with the seller, and proof that the original listing was removed.

Their platform also failed during the process — I couldn’t upload documents due to repeated errors and had to go through support to get my evidence attached.

The result? My dispute was denied with zero explanation.

When I asked why, support told me they don’t have access to the reason and that I need to send a physical letter by mail to request it. This is not only inefficient — it’s unreasonable and feels like a deliberate barrier.

A financial service that handles disputes this way is hard to trust. If clear evidence is ignored and no explanation is provided, what is the point of buyer protection?

Very disappointing experience.

One of the worst financial apps I've ever used. Right from the start, I had problems creating an account, getting my ID verified, registering payment accounts, etc. Had my account frozen. Required multiple phone calls to resolve. Now my payment attempts are being rejected. I think my account is frozen again. Their online FAQ's and chatbot are worthless. There is no online chat function. When I tried to call for customer service, got routed through PayPal. PayPal is such a better app. Planning to delete this app - FRUSTRATING AND WORTHLESS.

Their customer support number never connects to an actual agent to speak to won’t let me make transactions because their so called automated system decided I can’t withdrawal my own money from my account won’t give me the reason behind the safety system being activated an on top of that their get help chat system is completely useless saying they can’t override their own safety system Venmo needs to be shut down

Total shit site. I have used before, have an active account, and had to change my password four times for recent (unsuccessful) transaction. I only received error messages which could not be followed up on. There are no chat bots with live staff behind them, and the phone number is a dead end (and this is during business hours). I will tell the business receiving my payment to find another way to receive funds. I will never trust my finances to this amateur hour.

I got scammed

I got scammed! Someone changed my email & my banking info then transferred $9000 into their acct ! I called Venmo & told them immediately & they said we haven’t transferred the $ yet & they would have their fraud department call me that afternoon…well they never did & they sent the $9000 to the scammers ! After weeks of trying to settle this & trying to talk to a person they denied my dispute ! When I made any changes they would have me send I’d & a picture me holding that Id! I never changed my email or bank in the 10 years I’ve been with them! You would think when the scammers called to make those changes they would check them out! I’m disabled & going to sue those idiots for a lot more than the $9000 they owe me !!

Disappointed is an Understatement

For 2 weeks, I have been unable to put money into my account via a BofA debit card. When I was finally able to get to a human (it’s hard to do so), I was told there was nothing they could do because, supposedly, it was in tech support’s hand. When I asked, I was told there was no way I could speak to a tech support person. I was told that I could only put money into my Venmo account via my bank account, but that takes 3-5 business days.
I’ve spoken to numerous people there and get the same hyperbole each time. I just need to wait it out.
This is NOT the way to do business!

Venmo locked my account once money was deposited into my account

I was emailed about a settlement that was sent to my venmo account and venmo suspended my account and they're making it hard to retrieve what's entitled to me this company are acammers and steals people money how can they get away with this they told me I needed to verify my identity I did and they still have my account locked I can't transfer my funds from venmo now can I use tap to pay at a store so how tf am I supposed to get my money I want my funds out of my venmo account ASAP and im suing this company and I guarantee I'll get more than the settlement so venmo get ready y'all mfs gone owe me BIG time times are too hard to be playing with people money

Refuse to close account.

I opened an account, but never used it. I wanted to close the account but Venmo froze the account and says customer service needs to close it. I have contacted customer service NUMEROUS times and they refuse to close the account because it is frozen! They will not remove my personal info and keep sending me promo emails, which they say they cannot stop since my account isn't closed! This company is little more than a scam.

Venmo support options are worthless…

Venmo support options are worthless time wasters. Its support info claims it supports actual 2FA and even explains the difference between that and FaceID (so we at least know somebody there knows the difference). But then has no explanation anywhere that I can find on how to turn it on in the app (other than to say to activate it in the app...duh). Try the chat option? Nobody shows up to help. Venmo app >>> DELETE

Venmo supports fraud.

Someone used my email to set up a vVenmo account. I followed Venmo's process for reporting it... TWICE! I never got a response from Venmo and I am still getting emails about quarterly statements even though I do NOT have a Venmo account (and never will). I have tried calling their customer service but can't get through.

Honestly -10 is the review. Dispute a transaction, they then suspend your account and tell you it will take 10 days. Spend 3 hours on the phone arguing about how poor service that is, they have no ways of escalating priority cases, would suggest never using Venmo or PayPal ever!

Worse than paypal.

I have been using venmo and paypal for my business, both of them are bad but as per my exp. venmo is worse than paypal.
Both prefer customers over sellers. They are biased. Not going to use them anymore.

WORST COMPANY EVER!

WORST COMPANY. I got scammed and provided all of the evidence and never got my money back so they froze my account. What is the point of allowing people to put in claims when they don't even believe the person who made the claim. They said "since I sent the money to that account" it wasn't fraud when the real definition of fraud is that you give someone money and they do not give you the product. I spent $600 to an account that a friend told me to send the money to for football tickets, and guess what? Never got the tickets. Scams happen, but I will never use venmo or recommedn venmo to anyone since they don't even vouch for their own customer. All I wanted them to do was stop the transaction and they couldn't even do that... or be any help for that matter. Even the claim response was very vague as if was automated.

Don't trust them!!!!

I'm so pissed! Don't trust them. I transferred 2$30 transactions on Saturday it was a direct transfer from my bank account. It's now Thursday afternoon and it has yet to post to my account. My bank shows the transactions were complete Tuesday. The last transaction was for $303 my bank shows my debit card transactions were complete. VENMO claims that they declined the transaction I was told that I will have to wait 5-7 days to get my $$ back. They slow roll your access to your funds while ther collect interest on your $$. They can't be trusted!!

Venmo froze my account before I could…

Venmo froze my account before I could add a card and make a transaction. Then asked for all this verification stuff and made some kind of case out of it after I sent my selfie with my id in the picture to them. Said they’d get back to me in a few days. Google ai said they’d flag you if you open an account and immediately try to add a card and use the account to send money. Why else would I open an account? I hate Venmo I hope I never have to use it again.
