Wickes - Dunstable Avis 

I had a really good home measure and in store design experience with Jo Dewen from the Dunstable branch.
Jo was punctual, thorough, took the time to explain everything and never rushed me. There was plenty of opportunity to talk through colour options, styles, worktops etc. and visuals were both printed and emailed to me.

The only downside was on my first trip to store before making my home measure appointment online none of the staff said hello or offered to help however that is consistent with other retailers.

All in all it was a good experience.

A Masterclass in Poor Customer Service

I bought an on-display oven from Wickes Dunstable back in mid-June, with the promise I could collect it by mid-July. It’s now mid-September and I still don’t have it. Every time I chase for an update, I’m met with vague excuses and shifting timelines. Most recently, I was told it could take another 10 weeks—apparently only a specific contractor can remove the oven due to “safety measures.” Wickes refuses to hire anyone else or offer any real solution—just a refund, which completely disregards the time and effort I’ve already invested.

What makes this even more frustrating is that other customers have had their display items removed and collected without issue, yet Wickes refuses to do the same for me. There’s no consistency, no accountability, and absolutely no customer care.

Despite repeated assurances, they never call or email with updates. I’ve had to physically go into the store every time I want to know what’s going on. This is not just poor service—it’s a complete failure of basic customer responsibility. Avoid Wickes Dunstable if you value your time, money, or sanity.

Had a Wickes kitchen fitted a couple of months ago and we absolutely love it. The experience from start to finish couldn't have been better. Jason at the Dunstable store could not have done more for us. We chose Wickes not on cost (even though the price was very competitive) but on the service received by Jason. The fitting team knew exactly what they were doing and being an apartment we expected mess but they were very tidy!
Could not thank Wickes enough and will definitely use again.

I regularly shop at Wickes, mainly in North London and Dunstable, as part of my work in property management. In my experience, Wickes consistently offers some of the best pricing compared to other builders’ merchants. On my most recent visit, a team member named Ricky was especially helpful; he took the time to guide us in choosing the right roofing materials, which made the whole process much smoother.

Great range of kitchens and accessories. Our designer Jo Dewen was fantastic, she really understood what I was looking for. Looking at the plans was great so we were able to change things around and get it right.

The kitchen design process was exciting until the installation service started. It was a HORRENDOUS experience. Stay clear of wickes installation service. They are cowboy builders that have hidden charges and will charge you a lot more than the guide price, lying that certain things are regulation and you have to have it. I had a faulty cooker hood and swelling my not the carcass of the cupboard that holds the cooker hood. It’s been a month of back and forth emails, numerous phone calls. All wickes will do is ignore you and try to confuse you and twist your story to make it look like it was your fault. The have sold me a cooker hood which is not fit for its purpose and they’re now saying that the cupboard broke within a week of being fitted because there were no carbon filters in the cooker hood. Yes there were! I mean who in the right mind would use a cooker hood without filters! This still doesn’t explain why the carcass is swelling and cracking on the cupboard. If you want peace of mind, don’t ever get wickes to fit your kitchen. Funny thing is- no one came out to see what exactly has happened and have come to this conclusion just to fob me off. I paid a lot for installation and they’re cupboards are supposed to have the so called warranty but they’re never be response. They’ll somehow worm their way out of it somehow! Oh, they sent a cupboard out as a ‘good will’ when I paid for this service but who will fix this? They told me they won’t. This cupboards holds the cooker hood and needs to be fitted by a professional that knows what they’re doing and had the right tools to cut the opening out. Don’t fall for their kitchens even the quality isn’t all that! No one wants to take responsibility and everyone contacted are playing dead so they don’t have to deal with it. I mean, they have their money now so why help!

Marie on the collection counter was very helpful in taking order for doors and furniture. Tried earlier in day to order online and pay with gift voucher... which I now know is only valid in store.

I ordered some Rawbolt fixings for collection, when I collected them the assistant asked me what I intended to use them for, I explained my intended use and he recommended an alternative which would be more secure. I got them home and they were perfect, strong and secure and an easy fix. Hat off and many thanks to Nigel. This isn't a one off either, staff at the Dunstable store are always friendly and helpful.

We recently had two full bathroom refits designed by Joanne Dewen at the Dunstable branch.
We modified these slightly after the Wickes recommended fitter did his on-site survey. It was useful to get both perspectives, design and installation.
Everything installed felt excellent quality and we are thrilled with the finished bathrooms.
So much so that we went straight back for a design for our downstairs shower room refit. Same designer and fitter.
Highly recommended.

I attended the Dunstable Branch to meet design consultant Jason. He was brilliant from start to finish. Helpful and offering practical advice during my appointment. He has a great attitude towards customer care. The design was exactly what I envisaged and I ordered the kitchen there and then. Thank you Jason !

Popped into the Dunstable store to grab a few bits to do a room up. We were served by a Lovely Lady called Marie. She was absolutely amazing! Great service.

Dunstable Store
Had a great experience here, needed 6 antique brass handrail brackets and there were only 3. At the till, I asked the assistant, Maisie if I could order the remaining ones on line. instead of just saying Yes or No, she asked me more details, went on their system to find out if they had more of the brackets at the other Wickes stores near to where we were - once I'd decided which store was best for me, she then phoned the store and asked for the items to be put by for me. All I needed to do was walk in to the other store - straight to the tills and my items were there with the assistant knowing exactly what I was talking about and what i needed.
Maisie was a breath of fresh air and made a bit of an intimidating visit to a DIY store for me so much more enjoyable. DIY not really my thang!

Our new kitchen was completed today and we are thrilled with the result! Adrian and his team of installers (particularly Gabriel and Peter) are excellent craftsmen. The quality of their work is outstanding. They worked extremely hard and in a tidy manner.

Our experience of all the staff at Wickes was first class and their communication throughout the process was excellent. A special mention for Jason Frederick (Design Consultant - Dunstable branch) for making our kitchen refurbishment journey so enjoyable!

Exceptional service and support from Joanne Dewen. I am extremely pleased with the finished bathroom and the fitter, Zbigniew Zwolan, was also excellent.
I have given four stars as I found that the Customer Experience Coordinator very difficult to contact by phone. The calls were immediately transferred and even then not always answered. If help or information was needed it was Joanne who dealt with it.

We have recently had our bathroom designed and installed by Wickes at Dunstable which we are absolutely delighted with. Having had a kitchen done by them 5 years ago which we were happy with was the reason to go back for the bathroom fit. The service level and quality of workmanship was excellent and certainly at a different level to 5years ago. Our designer Jo Dewen was there throughout the whole experience to advise with her knowledge and friendly approach so we could achieve something we were all delighted with. She took as much interest as if it was her room as did the fitter who did an excellent job. We also had a customer experience coordinator assigned to us that informed us on delivery dates and followed through with emails to completion. We have no hesitation in recommending Wickes and all the personnel that helped give us a bathroom that is fabulous.
