Calling Out Toxic Workplace Practices – My Experience at AAFTOnline
My experience at AAFTOnline was deeply disappointing and professionally damaging. While the organization presents itself as a reputable institution, my experience was marked by poor management practices, favouritism, excessive workplace pressure, and a lack of professionalism.
Here are some of the issues I personally experienced or witnessed:
🔴 **Blame Culture:** Employees were often held accountable for issues originating in other departments, including admissions, finance, and management. Sales teams frequently bore the responsibility for problems beyond their control.
🔴 **Public Disrespect:** Managers, including Rohit Pawar, ASHISH MODI, and Jenil C., regularly communicated with employees in a manner that I found disrespectful and demoralizing. Public criticism and harsh language appeared to be common management practices.
🔴 **Inappropriate Workplace Behaviour:** I observed comments and interactions that I believed were unprofessional and, at times, inappropriate toward female employees. Several employees expressed discomfort regarding the language and behaviour they encountered in the workplace. In my view, management did not adequately address these concerns.
🔴 **Leave and Performance Pressure:** Employees often felt discouraged from taking leave, particularly when performance targets were involved. Many workplace decisions appeared to be influenced by factors other than objective performance metrics.
🔴 **Long Working Hours:** Employees were frequently encouraged to work beyond regular office hours and, in some cases, on weekends. Many employees felt significant pressure to remain available outside standard working hours.
🔴 **Limited Feedback Culture:** Concerns regarding workplace processes, employee conduct, lead management, and operational issues were raised repeatedly but, in my experience, rarely resulted in meaningful action or improvement.
🔴 **Perceived Favouritism:** Recognition, opportunities, and career progression often appeared inconsistent. Many employees felt that workplace relationships carried more weight than performance when it came to advancement.
🔴 **Compensation Concerns:** Employees frequently expressed concerns regarding incentives, rewards, overtime expectations, and changes to compensation structures. These issues contributed to frustration and declining morale.
🔴 **Process and Communication Issues:** There were recurring concerns regarding internal coordination, communication, and the consistency of information provided to prospective students regarding courses, schedules, and program details.
🔴 **HR Support Concerns:** My interactions with Tanya J. left me feeling that employee concerns were not always handled impartially or effectively. During my exit process, I felt that my concerns were not addressed professionally, which added to an already difficult experience.
One of the most disappointing aspects of my departure was being asked to leave shortly after submitting my resignation rather than being allowed to complete my notice period. This occurred despite my contributions to initiatives such as the Screenwriting and Podcasting programs.
I was one of the longer-serving employees in my team and consistently performed well, which makes this experience even more disappointing in hindsight. The issues I observed affected employee morale, retention, and overall workplace satisfaction.
This post reflects my personal experience and opinions based on my time at the organization. Others may have had different experiences.
To anyone considering joining: research thoroughly, speak to current and former employees, and make an informed decision. Every employee deserves a workplace built on respect, professionalism, transparency, and accountability.
