Adhiroha Yoga Teacher Training Ashram Avis 

Hi! I’m Giulia! I’m 22 and I just completed my 300h in Adhiroha this month of July 2026! Sharing my experience for the next people considering to come here :)

The Ashram is beautifully located in the middle of the jungle in the upper part of Tapovan in a very calm area. Even though the road to reach it is a little bumpy, it is surrounded by blooming nature and wild animals of all sorts, which often used to greet us before our morning classes, making it a very pleasant sanctuary for yogic practice.

The rooms, dining area and shalas are nicely designed, cozy and always kept clean by the very efficient staff like Kapil, who never hesitated to laugh with us and share his music while working.
Overall, the hard work of the team is visible everywhere, whether in the gardens or in the kitchen, in which very yummy sattvic, vegetarian and highly digestible meals are prepared daily and served by the sweet Manju. Everyone seems to work for the comfort of the yogis, and I appreciated that greatly!

The quality of the classes was also top notch: every single teacher is a goldmine for knowledge, whether the class was theoretical or practical, I felt like each and every one of them helped me deepen my knowledge! They all deserve a little appreciation:
- Jitender, the Pranayama teacher always greeted us with a smile, making the 5:45 class bearable. I appreciated his trust in letting me lead some sessions, and even more his constructive feedback and guidance.
- Pratap, the Ashtanga Yoga teacher always guided us in a safe way through the series and gave me so much advice on how to start teaching this style of yoga, which I’m very thankful for.
- Jaggi, the Philosphy teacher made yoga philosophy seem much more accessible with his wonderful sense of humour and various examples, always making sure everyone was understanding the topics (and laughing).
- Sudhanshu, the Restorative Yoga teacher gave us a space to rest and connect to our bodies during the middle of the day, but mostly took the time to share his insights on practice with us: beautifully linking anatomy, alignment and injury prevention with a smile. He also shared his version of the Ashtanga Primary series, readjusted to fit him, which inspired me to make my own variation, simply thank you.
- Anil, the Yoga Anatomy teacher made the happiest schemas to explain his topics, accepted any digression on any disease or personal opinion on his topics with a smile. I personally loved how he purposefully left us on a cliffhanger at the end of the classes, keeping us hooked on the topics!
- Ashish, the Hatha Yoga teacher has a beautifully structured practice, he broke down every asana in multiple steps for us to understand better and shared his sequences repeatedly. Off topic, his perfume is really nice too.
- Sunil, the Meditation teacher never failed to ask us « how are you today? » or « everything good? » in the most genuine way at the beginning of every practice. He explained all meditation techniques thoroughly and beautifully lead us through every single one of them. His book recommendations were the best, I appreciated his patience when I picked his brain on that.

I also wish to underline the professionalism of the photographers, whom I found very discreet and kindest when taking pictures of us, in particular Gaurav.

Last but not least, a little appreciation for Arjun, the on site manager, who was always available and reactive for anything that we needed. Personally, I appreciated his coffee and his friendliness more than everything, he always welcomed me in his office with a smile and never failed to make me laugh during breaks, or listen to me rant about anything! Thank you for that, from the bottom of my heart :).

Overall, I think my experience in Adhiroha was beautiful: you really find what you pay for, and I personally left a little piece of my heart here so maybe you will too!

I booked Adhiroha’s 500-hour YTTC and paid a deposit of €791.25. After requesting to postpone my arrival, they confirmed the new date without issue. Later, when I emailed to reconfirm my arrival, no one responded. I followed up on WhatsApp, the same channel we had previously used, but the message was left unread, even though they were actively posting on Instagram. After I left a review about their lack of communication, they suddenly replied within hours through WhatsApp, Instagram, and here. Instead of accepting responsibility, Adhiroha turned defensive and hostile, accusing me of “rushed assumptions” and “poor judgment.” Their tone was condescending and patronizing instead of a simple apology.

A reputable school should understand that international students need timely confirmation and reassurance, especially considering how many scam yoga schools exist. Leaving a paying customer hanging then shifting the blame onto them is unacceptable.

Adhiroha then edited their reply to my review, changing it from accusatory to suddenly “understanding”. Unfortunately, this shift was only for public display: their private messages went from dismissive to bullying, and intimidatory.

When I enrolled, Adhiroha was listed on the US Yoga Alliance website, and its accreditation was a key reason for my choice. After my review, I contacted the US Yoga Alliance directly and was informed that Adhiroha had been removed from the registry in May 2025. Despite this, they still display the Yoga Alliance logo and now claim students receive certification “through a partner school”. A misleading workaround that allows them to advertise recognition they no longer hold. In practice, students pay Adhiroha, a non-accredited school, and receive certification from another school. This is not what was originally sold and, under Indian Contract Law, constitutes a breach of contract.

After my review, Adhiroha escalated the situation dramatically. They cancelled my admission, citing a “violation of their Code of Conduct”, even though that code refers only to student behaviour during the stay on their premises. They then claimed they were entitled to keep my payment despite being the ones who cancelled, which again is a breach of contract under Indian law. Their idea of “non-refundable” seems to mean they can cancel a student’s course for any reason and still keep the money.

Adhiroha later offered a partial refund only if I deleted my Google and Trustpilot reviews. Their messages also contained veiled threats, such as: “Just as a word of advice: if this matter is escalated further to legal proceedings, the implications may extend beyond this situation. We shall submit all relevant details and documentation regarding your conduct to the competent authorities, and it could potentially affect future visa processing for India as well as your standing within the wider yoga community in Rishikesh.”

Such intimidation tactics are alarming and reveal a culture where criticism is treated as disobedience. It makes one wonder how students would be treated once on their premises if they dared to raise concerns.

If you’re researching yoga schools in India, learn from my experience. Adhiroha presents itself as a high-end school, and is one of the most expensive in Rishikesh. But their behaviour does not reflect integrity or professionalism. Their communication is inconsistent, their accreditation claims misleading, and their reaction to criticism highly concerning. Many of their glowing five-star reviews read like scripted marketing rather than genuine student experiences.

I strongly recommend choosing a school that asks for a small deposit (€100–€200), verifying accreditation, and not relying on online reviews or their polished social media image.
