Not fun but helping
I got an A on my midterm and I'm happy about the results. It's not fun, but no math study is fun I guess. This one is better than going to tutors at least I can do it at home and I can study with my cats by my side. I LOVE MY CATTTTSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Serene! We do not expect such bad behavior from our teachers or students. Did you contact your Academic Advisor? Did your parents contact any of our instructors? Did you report to our Administrative office?

Bad! This website will decrease my percentage by so much when I get a single problem incorrect. Its really frustrating and most of these problems don't give a proper explanation when I click the "help" button. I don't recommend this at all!!

Hi Bella! When you make a mistake in the Afficiency session, you tend to lose some points. Your goal should be to avoid making unnecessary mistakes so that your accuracy can improve. If yur accuracy improves, your score improves and you get excellent grades. If you are unable to understand a concept, we have Supervised sessions managed by teachers who could help. We have online Q&A sessions that you could join and get help. If you are student at a local learning center, the help is there 6 days a week. I rated Afficient math 2 stars because…
I rated Afficient math 2 stars because first of all, the demos were bad at explaining because sometimes they say an equation equals a number without explaining how they got to that number. As a result, I did not do that well in Proficiency or Afficiency. Also, in Afficiency I got 1 question wrong, but I changed it to right quickly, and it made me go down a lot. That's what happened to me when I went down 1.0 percent which is actually going down quite a lot in Afficiency. So, based on my recent experiences, I firmly believe that Afficient Math isn't teaching us to their full potential and that many changes could be useful, especially in the demos for the different skills.

Hi XChinn! Thanks for your review. If you couldn't follow a demo, did you take the help of an instructor? We have Q&A sessions available to receive help from instructors. After the demo, we also have Assisted Exercises where answers are partially filled. This helps understand the concepts better.

Hello Jia! We can understand your pain but you must remember the old adage 'if there is no pain, there is no gain'. Whether it's sports, music or academic skills, one has to practice daily to master the skills. If a student spares 30 minutes a day in our programs, he/she can complete a grade level material in a few month and advance beyond the school grade level.

Hello Tony Liao! In Afficiency session, there are always 6 problems. Based on the answers you provided, the correct answer will most likely increase the accuracy rate of the skill, and the incorrect answers will most likely decrease the accuracy rate of that skill. The change in score after the Afficiency session depends on the change in the overall accuracy rate. If you get all the 6 problems correct, your score after completing the Afficiency session will definitely go up. If you have only one mistake in the session, the score may not necessarily go down. Hope this explains.
Honestly the 1st month was going well…
Honestly the 1st month was going well and I met the words in books. Everything was great until I got to the next grade session, for some reasons the percentage wouldn't go up higher at all! My parents requires 60 percent each day and Afficient is not helping with that. I hate this app but I have to use it.

My son started in 4th Grade. He reached 6th grade by now, and his teacher said that he was "accused of skipping questions leading to "learning loss"." He was kicked back to 4th grade, and has to start over. "It's like building a 100 floor building, and I'm building the 51st floor, then teacher finds out and teacher becomes an earthquake and shakes so hard that the building collapses back down to the 1st floor and he has a pile of rubble, and start over." my son said.

Dear Henry Wang! If the teacher suggested your child to start at 4th grade, it's because he didn't master the skills required for the grade and possibly skipping questions, he had some skill gaps. The advise was to improve your son's skills, bridge the skill gaps, build a stronger foundation and move forward. This can be achieved in a few weeks or in a few months at the most. In the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't be a huge loss to start over for a 4th Grader. Your son's 100 floor building and earthquake example seems to be an exaggeration. Best wishes!
Students Prespective
I believe that as a student doing this program that it does help but, it does not help much. The program doesn't help teach new skills. It just asked for the answer for the problem. I have read a lot of the other comments and I noticed that all of the 5 star reviews are from parents while the 1 star is all students. Knowing that most parents are just trying to help their kids this is definitely not the best way to do it. There are many other options that are better.

I'm sure you know that all parents try to help their children in their studies, wish them excellent academic results, and wish them grand success. Before they choose a learning program for their child, they evaluate many options, and if they give a 5-star review, they must have benefitted or considered its value worth their money.
Whether the program is helping much or not, our students' results would speak louder than ours. I'm sure you know that thousands of students in our programs have earned Honors and High-Honors status and are currently one or two grades, even three grades above their school grade level. This website sucks!
I hate this website. The instruction are unclear and they give you questions that they never teach you how to solve. Ever since my mom sign me up all I heard from her is how much percent you did today. I rather have a real teacher teaching me math instead of this program. Those people who give this a 5 star review probably never even know how frustrating it is to do math on this website. Doing math on this website is the worst and the most stressful experience of my life.

Our programs have clear instructions to first learn from the demo exercises, followed by assisted exercises before a student works on the problems in the exercise. The demos are relate to the questions in the exercises. If a student skips the demo and assisted exercises, it is difficult to complete the exercises without making mistakes. Worth to Try
My son started using Afficienta math at the beginning of COVID pandemic. We are very pleased with this program! It fits perfectly for a flexible, in home study plan. He has completed 5.5 grade levels math in the past 2.5 years and is well advanced in math at school. More importantly, he has learned how to learn something new without formal teaching environment, what is discipline and best time management. All of these further boosted his confidence in math and other areas.

Dear Brady Zheng! We understand your frustration. Our math program is aligned with US Common Core, so when you solve a problem you must follow the method taught in the lesson. Just finding the right answer is not enough if you don't follow the process. Your school math teacher will also mark it wrong if you don't follow the process correctly. Wish you all the best!
Not worth it
I thought it was decent at first, but then I realized that you have to write certain answers in a certain form, otherwise the program will mark your answer as incorrect. I didn't know this and got many questions wrong. It's extremely frustrating when a correct answer is marked as incorrect. Furthermore, the questions are repeated and you can just memorize the answers. The site is glitchy and sometimes it causes all my tabs to stop functioning. For $180 a month, it's definitely not worth it.

If you follow the process of going through the demos and assisted exercises, you could have avoided all the mistakes.
