I initially contacted a local solicitor for probate services but the cost was extremely high and the lead time before we could get an appointment was very long (due to the Christmas break).
I looked at online services and saw Affinion Probate.
I was a bit worried at first about using an online service but I read all the reviews and felt reassured.
I’m SO glad I went with Affinion.
Mark Stephens was very knowledgable and very reassuring about a slightly complex situation we had which gave me a great deal of confidence. The fixed price was made very clear and was never altered (and was a fraction of the price quoted by the local high street solicitor).
Affinion were able to start the probate process immediately and Lisa, at New Law (their legal partners) was equally responsive and helpful.
From my first telephone appointment with Mark to receiving the Grant of Probate certificate in my hand took 8 weeks (and this was over the Christmas period) - this was way quicker than I had expected.

I needed to obtain Probate in respect of my wife who died intestate. Having researched the market, I chose Affinion because of its extensive positive feedback and its very competitive prices. I formally engaged Affinion on 25 November 2024 when I submitted the initial data and paid the deposit. The Court approved my application on 20 December 2024. This surprisingly short timescale was in part affected by my own delay in
answering subsequent enquiries from the team, so the time to completion may have been even quicker had I responded sooner. Throughout this process, Mark at Affinion and Emily at NewLaw (the legal firm chosen by Affinion) were always efficient, knowledgable, courteous, friendly and tolerant.
