We just got back from Japan. We went 3/26-4/2/2025. This is our first experience with affordable world. We love Japan. When first time I called affordable world regarding the deal trip to Japan, their office in California & their customer service seems very good & helpful. So I signed up. But I learned when we arrived in Japan, we’re very disappointed with their service & our tour guide. On our first day arrival in Tokyo, they put us to a nice hotel, We like the hotel in Tokyo. then here’s the nightmare started, when we’re in Kyoto & Osaka.
The hotel in Kyoto was very tiny room, uncomfortable mattress & pillows, no room or closet to put our 2 big luggages & 1 carry on, without any choice, we have to put all of them on floor which no room to walk, in order to walk we have to jump in between the
luggages on the floor. The carpet was old & ripped off on the corner area. Disgusting carpet. The bathroom was very tiny, & you have to climbed out, very high step, to go to the bathroom. I never saw that tiny bathroom the way they set up with a very high step. It’s hazard. The shower in the bathtub, it’s a high bathtub, you have to climb up & there’s nothing to hold on- very dangerous. I hit my knees or my toes a few times whenever I took a shower climb up to that bathtub. The hotel in Osaka was the same as in Kyoto, very tiny room & dangerous tiny bathroom with nothing to hold to climb up to high bathtub to have shower. And has very high step to enter the bathroom. I hit my toes several times whenever I went to bathroom because of the very high step. We never seen anything like it.

The tour guide, they’re nice people but they’re not as very good as professional as a tour guides. They didn’t give us
whispers so we can’t hear what they’re talking about, while we’re walking, most of the time we can’t hear what they’re explaining. Especially when we’re in Kyoto & Osaka we had different tour guide. Here’s another bad surprise in Kyoto . From Kyoto to Osaka, affordable world didn’t mentioned anything luggage transfer from Kyoto to Osaka. They only mentioned about luggage transfer from Tokyo to Kyoto,which we paid additional for this one before we go to Japan. While we arrived in Kyoto, Our tour guide informed us, we have to pay luggage transfer from Kyoto to Osaka which we didn’t aware about it. He told us when we’re in bus in the morning that we’re about to leave for our first tour in Kyoto. We have to get off from bus, and back to our room & take out a few stuffs from our luggage because we have to transfer our luggage to Osaka. What a messed!! Very unorganized !!! Our first trip in Kyoto that morning was Delayed because we have to re arrange our luggage & did some paperwork for luggage transfer. Back to our tour guide in Kyoto & Osaka, he walked too fast & sometimes we can’t keep up with him and
we left out behind & looking for him , because they didn’t give us whispers we couldn’t hear anything what he said. Two ladies in our group, they’re missing. We had a little delayed of our next tour to Osaka Castle because the tour guide still trying to find these 2 ladies. He still can’t find them. Everything was chaos because of the 2 ladies missing. We supposed to have our lunch ( that’s included in our additional tour to Nara) but our bus left us . The tour guide instructed us to walked appx. 30 minutes to the restaurant, we walked together with the tour guide on the street where traffics was a little busy where we walked, there’s no sidewalk , the street we’re walking was not for pedestrians to walk. Some cars passing by near us while we’re walking together with our tour guide. That’s dangerous. The tour guide didn’t think of our safety. This was the worst service & tour guide I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been traveling to 25 countries, we had our travel agent that we had used for 12 years, so far our travel agent we had in the past for 12 years is the best! So far no body beats to their service they have to offered. This is our first time using Affordable World, the reason I try affordable world was because I was falling to their Ad -A good deal on the price trip to Japan. I’ve been looking for a great deal trip to Japan for a while. Why not give it a try using different travel agent this time . I should known better, sometimes you got what you paid for. You paid cheaper, their service is cheap too. I should stick to my travel agent that I’ve been using for 12 years, it’s worth it to pay a little bit more because what you paid was for their excellent services, they never disappointed us. We’re planning to go back to Japan in the future but we’re not going to use Affordable World.

I have used Affordable World for many years, since they were Affordable Asia. Every single time we have used them we have had outstanding experiences. This trip was no exception! From booking to flight choices, the Office Staff were exceptionally responsive helped us through everything! Salu is amazing! As for this trip, this is my 4th time on this itinerary. I keep taking different family members back because this trip is that good, the itinerary, value, pace, accommodations, transportation, and most especially the guides! Sharkey, our guide is funny, patient, professional and knowledgeable. His ability to move the group, answer questions and provide cultural and historical information, and keep the group on track is nothing short of a miracle. He is absolutely the best! This trip has a nice mix of landmarks and cultural must see’s in fast paced Bangkok as well as plenty of time to relax in beautiful Phuket. The hotels were wonderful and the breakfast included was a perfect start to every day. We will certainly vacation with Affordable World again. Our tour guide, Masa, ruined the experience for the people on the tour. He literally lost 5 people on our first full day in Kyoto. All of us were stuck waiting for over an hour in the tour bus for him to locate this family. We then had to rush through the rest of the sites and didn't have time for any lunch or shopping.

On the second day in Osaka, his instructions on where to meet up at a specific time, were so poor that we had to ask numerous people where the location was. On our last day in Osaka, he lost 2 more people. He asked us if anyone knew their names or contact info. He had no clue of who anyone was on the tour he was guiding. He had no idea how to contact the missing Mother and Daughter and was unable to. They ended up missing the rest of the day's tour and lunch and had to navigate their own way back to Kyoto from Nara.

His biggest problem was that he gave no details and walked as if he was in a speed walking contest. We didn't get to enjoy the sights due to wasting time waiting for people he lost. He should not be a tour guide. At Nara, the bus was supposed to pick us up to go to a restaurant for lunch (that was included in this optional tour). The bus never came and we had to walk about a mile on the side of a very busy road with no pedestrian walkway!!!! We all could've been killed. I'm writing this review as a warning to others. I had read all the 5 star reviews and figured that this would be a good tour.
Lastly, neither of our tour guides were proficient in English and were difficult to understand. We were not equipped with little listening devices (like Globus and other tour companies provide). Needless to say we will never travel with this tour company again.

Well organized trip by Affordable World … hotel in Athens could have been little better but overall, I would give them 5 stars.

Ani was the absolute best! She took such good care of us that we named her Méi méi Ani.
Our excursions were top notch. The hotels were beautiful and the people were so warm and welcoming.

The guide was amazing, very informative and professional

Great Istanbul hotel. The Athens hotel was a bit out of the way but navigable. The Santorini hotel was completely isolated and could not walk to anywhere

One of our guides in Thailand fell well short of the mark of being sufficient. Very short with the questions that we asked. Not helpful at all!! And the transportation back home was horrible. Get some qualified people and plans to make this a better experience. I will never use you guys again

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with this tour company in Thailand! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and exceeded my expectations. The itinerary was well thought out, balancing adventure, culture, and relaxation.

Our tour guide was absolutely incredible—knowledgeable, kind, funny, and so passionate about sharing the beauty and history of Thailand. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. It truly felt like traveling with a friend who knows all the hidden gems.

The hotels were top-notch, each one offering something unique and luxurious. Whether it was waking up to ocean views or enjoying peaceful nights in beautifully designed boutique stays, every accommodation added to the magic of the trip.

I highly recommend Affordable World, especially our wonderful guides, Noom and Alice. They made our time in Bangkok and Phuket unforgettable, ensuring everything was perfectly set up and running smoothly.

Noom and Alice were incredibly accommodating, sharing their deep knowledge of the local culture and making sure we felt comfortable throughout the trip. They were always available to answer any questions or concerns, adding to our peace of mind.

Our experience was amazing, and having Noom and Alice as guides made it even more special.

Everything was executed perfectly with all flights and tour transfers and guides. This was my first time using this company and it was a nice time with great guides Noom & Alice.

The hotels were all very nice. Some not close to hustle and bustle of town, but you can take a grab (Uber like) to get around. I would have preferred to stay closer to Old Town in Phuket versus the beach area we were taken to, which was about a 45 min. drive away each way.

We spent our free nights in Phuket in old town because it was so beautiful at night with all the street lights, and vendors and restaurants. .. it was a much richer cultural experience than being at the beach in this town. That would be the only thing I would change. I would much rather stay closer to town for the night experience and visit the beach during the day.

In Singapore we did have a city guide for half a day. I would have enjoyed some optional tours for Singapore to avoid having to figure out what do each day and how to get around.

We used Grab there and had some misadventures using their metro. Would prefer not to have so much free time on my own there. It is a fairly easy country to get around though. Lots of interesting areas and neighborhoods to explore. We did get around as much and hit all the highlights we could. The beach area is stunning and saw some monitor lizards up close and personal. Highlight for me.

We went with the Cathay Pacific option for the air AW handled. We chose 20-hour layover in Hong Kong and I really enjoyed the big bus tour we did there before flying home. Highly recommend choosing longer layovers somewhere to see just one more fun thing.

All breakfasts were fantastic. Eat all you can so you can skip lunch and save some cash for treats and souvenirs.

Enjoyed the trip and it was very well organized and guided.

Our guide, Patty, was superb. She loves her job and took interest in each of us and strived to make sure we were happy. The hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya Beach were outstanding. I had this introduction to Thailand and now I want to return for a longer visit.

Amazingly beautiful and everything was seamless. From our flights to the excursions and transfers everything exceeded our expectations! I highly recommend.

The tour guides were so accommodating and added things in that we mentioned we would like to do. Thailand and the Thai people made it special.

First time travelling with Affordable World and would do it again! So relaxing having all the details taken care of. Thailand tour guides Sharky & Kitty were fabulous - so knowledgeable and fun. Great way to see many areas of Thailand - temples, elephants , beaches and more. Highly recommend!

The travel plans were well organized and executed. Comfortable hotels. Helpful guides and were always available. Need to provide bottled waters on the tour buses.
