Never again!
We got recommended allsop durn by a friend who had a fantastic experience. Given covid, we had decided to support the local business despite it being the more expensive solution. Ours was a simple flat purchase with no issues. This was a period of high sales to be fair due to the govt rule on reduced stamp duty for. We were assigned Louisa Dearlove. We were constantly chasing for updates on the purchase. This was never proactive. It was difficult to get in touch with louisa but whenever we did, to be fair she was quite good. We attributed this constant chase to solicitors being overwhelmed with the market. However post the purchase, we realised that we paid the seller monies which they were not due and we were having to make the payment again. (apparently, the sellers put in the insurance amount as something they had paid the council while the council had written to us and asked us to pay for the same period). This started the chase...Multiple chases, explanations, accounting breakup, council responses, etc and this didn't go anywhere. We had closed the house sale in May. I finally had to escalate this and only after this did the seller's solicitors get contacted and they agreed to repay this amount. Even after this agreement and sellers confirming the money had been sent back to Allsop, I had to chase and finally got my refund in Nov. Way way too much hassle, bandwidth, stress. Never again!
