My experience trying to cancel an Altered Studio subscription
On 16 August 2026, I contacted Altered because I could not access my account to cancel my subscription. I provided my invoice reference and asked for three simple things:
* cancellation of the subscription;
* confirmation of the effective cancellation date;
* confirmation that no further renewal or payment would be taken.
Instead of receiving a clear customer-service response, I was repeatedly told to use the application, even though I had already explained that I could not access my account.
When I asked again for explicit written confirmation that the subscription would end on 16 September 2026 and that no further payment would be taken, the customer-service representative replied:
“Read the text.”
After I explained that this was not the clear written confirmation I had requested, the final response was:
“Your screenshot contains the response you requested for all legal purposes. Do not contact us again.”
I am publishing the unedited screenshots of this exchange so that prospective customers can assess Altered’s customer service for themselves.
My criticism relates specifically to the cancellation process and the way my legitimate billing questions were handled. A customer should be able to cancel a recurring subscription easily and obtain a polite, unambiguous confirmation without being addressed in this manner.
Before subscribing, I recommend checking carefully:
* how the subscription can be cancelled;
* whether you can access the account and billing settings;
* the exact renewal date;
* and whether your bank can block future recurring payments if necessary.
As of the date of this publication, I understand that my subscription is due to end on 16 September 2026. I will update this review if any further payment is taken or if Altered provides a proper clarification.
