Tried to scam me on insurance. I would not recommend these guys are all
I think this company may be a scam. I was unable to pay my premium through their website. Finally contacted an agent and paid my bill. Now, I get a random $25 unexplained charge on my card. I sent customer service a message asking what it was for. Crickets. I let them know that my difficulties with their website has caused me to look elsewhere. Now I cannot log into my account despite the fact that I've paid my premium and cannot even look at my coverage online to compare. I doubt they would pay if I had a claim.
Simply far too expensive - and for far less (coach class) coverage. It's as if the entire insurance industry has become predatory. Major reforms are definitely needed
American modern is deceptive and don’t train tell agents that in order to get water damage coverage you have to add a rider. We had a water in our basement and told us sorry, we don’t cover water as part of the base coverage. I couldn’t believe it. I checked with our agent and he checked all the other companies he writes for and they were the only one that doesn’t include water damage by default.
I had a renters insurance policy with eRenter, underwritten by American Modern (Policy #104452118). My claim involved direct physical damage to my personal items due to mold. The policy clearly includes coverage for damage caused by fungi, wet or dry rot, or bacteria up to $10,000. Yet, my claim was denied — falsely blaming “poor ventilation” as the cause, despite the resulting mold being the covered peril.
When I tried to get answers, a representative named Monique hung up on me and refused to return my calls. The lack of professionalism, the bad faith denial, and the misapplication of the policy terms are unacceptable.
I’ve submitted formal complaints to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Attorney General’s Office, and other regulatory bodies. If you’re thinking about getting renter’s insurance through eRenter or American Modern — don’t. They do not stand behind their own policy language and treat their customers with blatant disregard.
Do better.
I was referred to this Company by USAA. Don't waste your time. I had a terrible interview with this Company's representative. He kept asking the same questions over and over three times. American Modern Insurance Group charges way too much for what it offers. I looked at their reviews, and they were one horror story after another. USAA should not offer this to its membership.
