Melanie has helped us with our fear reactive dog who absolutely hates the vet and was involved in a bite incident earlier in the year due to intense fear while there. Melanie is incredibly patient, understanding and knowledgeable; she gave us advice on not only this issue but other challenges we were facing and explained the psychological link between dogs behaviour, reactions and coping strategies - it all made so much sense and helped us to understand why our dog reacts the way he does in certain situations and how to support him best moving forward.

Melanie was mindful of our dogs fear and potential reactivity when she visited us at home, however she was very respectful towards our dog and built a good foundation relationship with him and knew just how to act around him, keeping in mind she was in his home and also being aware of his past trauma. He was absolutely not phased by her presence and was calm throughout which is a huge win for him and us!

Melanie is kind, understanding and provided us with huge reassurance that we were doing the right thing for our boy but also gave us some pointers and guidance for moving forward.

Before seeking advice it was becoming quite stressful walking my dog as she had begun to launch herself whilst on the lead towards other dogs and becoming unpredictable. My dog had also become unpredictable with letting strangers pet her and I didn’t want my dog to eventually bite someone. With Melanie’s advice our walks have been so much better and more enjoyable. My dog is getting calmer and with training we have broken the launching and barking behaviour.

Melanie visited us as I’d recently moved in with my partner, and was bringing a cat into a previously dog only household, and felt very unsure about it. Melanie has helped us with our 2 rescue English Setters. They were both very reactive with other dogs, people and would also occasionally fight. They were also very possessive with toys etc.
Melanie had a great way with our dogs and with us. She gave us lots of great advise and reading material. Also reassurances of what we were already doing was helping. Our dogs have improved more than we could of hoped for. They are not perfect but no more fighting, resource guarding and a lot better than they were and continuing to improve! We would highly recommend Melanie if you have a reactive dog we hesitated to get a behaviourist but wished we had seen Melanie sooner as our dogs are so much happier now.

Melanie came to our home to help us with a new fur baby. He was a rescue dog and having described the issues we were experiencing Melanie diagnosed him as being a resource guarder. Melanie is an amazing animal behaviourist who has helped us with our four dogs. Mel's knowledge is so extensive it has given us a much better understanding of how our dogs think and consequently act and helping us create a more harmonious home. After the long initial visit Mel was always available by email or on the phone with her expert and friendly advice. We recently had Mel for a second visit which was well worth the time as spending time with her really helped to reassure me that we were on the right track plus she taught us several more games/training that we could do with the dogs.

We felt that Melanie could help us as our dog had some issues with other dogs at doggie day care. Melanie spent the best part of a day with us and on a good walk to observe. Our dog was still young and has since with some of the learnings matured into a valued part of our family.

When we rescued our dog Buddy from Romania we felt out of our depth with his behaviour issues. Mel has helped us immensely with our reactive Romanian rescue dog, Ben. As experienced dog owners we were in despair after adopting Ben and finding his behaviour so challenging. We dreaded the daily walks in our rural neighbourhood to the point where we had decided our only option was to take Ben some distance by car every day to avoid possible confrontations with our neighbours in the area.
After spending a morning with Mel, she explained the possible reasons behind Ben's reactions and suggested ways in which we could help reduce his reactive behaviour. I contacted Melanie as urgently needed help with our reactive dogs. I had reached a point where I dreaded walking them in case we met another dog. Melanie spent the morning with us and her assessment put my mind at rest about a few things and explained a lot about our dogs - I saw their behaviour in a new light and felt better equipped to help them. Overall, I felt more confident and have not looked back. We still have challenges but knowing that Melanie is following up by email and readily available for friendly phone-based advice sessions is a great comfort.

A year ago today my two cats couldn’t be in the same room without a vicious fight breaking out. With Melanie’s help and experience and through a feeding regime and lots of patience they can now be in the same space for most of the day! Still a few squabbles but to be expected from cats with big personalities. Melanie has been wonderful, with expert advice and plenty of time for me when I had questions.
