My experience in Austria was the worst of all the countries I have ever visited in my life.For driving 5 km without paying the road tax, they fined me €120 forfeit.
I don't recommend anyone to go on holiday to Austria.
They are thieves and scammers who take advantage of foreigners who visit their country.

Bei diesem Unternehmen geht alles schief. Eine kriminelle Bande. Ja ich bin zum Königssee gefahren ohne zu wissen, dass ich die Grenze überquere und in Österreich lande und war mir nicht bewusst, dass ich eine Vignette kaufen muss. Ok es ist nun mal passiert und ich hätte die normale Strafe ohne Diskussion bezahlt. ABER die sch….Firma Asfinag war der Meinung, mir einen angeblichen Bußgeldbescheid zu zuschicken , ohne dass bei mir JEMALS!! ein Brief angekommen ist. Es folgte der erhöhte Bußgeldbescheid über 300€ statt 120€. Ich habe mehrere Male einen Widerspruch eingelegt. Es hat sich über ein Jahr gezogen. Ich habe schließlich diese Verbrecher aufgefordert mir einen Nachweis zukommen zu lassen, dass sie tatsächlich per angebliches Einschreiben einen Bußgeldbescheid verschickt haben, was eine Mindestanforderung ist. Vergeblich… stattdessen wurde mein Widerspruch abgelehnt bis zur letzten Instanz. VERBRECHER!!!!

Ignorrant people working there, not given any chance for understanding and being kind to their customer.
I understand their law, however a tourist is still tourist, even though I do not want to cheat on road and I want to pay if I did mistake. Why I need to pay 10 times more for my mistake, even I bought ticket afterward? They do not pay back, but they want me to pay the fine as well.
No sign of kindness, or any other understanding.
Now I have a bad prejudice about the whole nation there!

Achtung Leute, aufgepasst! Ich hatte deren Flex-Maut gebucht und bin reingefallen. Die ist nämlich gar keine Flex-Maut, sondern gilt nur für ein paar kurze Autobahnstrecken. Hat man nicht noch zusätzlich eine digitale Vignette oder ein Klebe-Pickerl, dann droht eine Straf-Maut von 120€. Deren Beschreibung ist derart beschi**en, dass man leicht reinfällt.

Nevet got the first letter of a 120EURO fine from missing a road toll. I thought everything was covered by the vignette. My bad.

Calling, writing them - trying to pay the fine. To bad. The case has been turn over to authories. Tried to explain I never got the first letter and just want to pay the fine and get on with my life.

Sorry, cant do. Now the case goes to authorities - and can expect a 300+ EURO fine.

What a shit show of rigid bureaucracy. Taking the long road around next time.

I’m extremely disappointed with ASFINAG. I purchased a valid vignette for driving in Austria and had all the necessary documentation to prove it — the physical sticker, the receipt, everything. Despite this, I was fined.
When I contacted them and showed all the evidence, their response was shockingly dismissive: “It doesn’t matter, the camera flagged it as invalid.” no willingness to investigate, just to pay €120, fine.
It’s frustrating to deal with such rigid bureaucracy and people, especially when you’ve done everything. This experience has left a bitter taste and made me reconsider driving through Austria again.

Habe eine Vignette, aber seit 2 Wochen ein neues Kennzeichen und nicht daran gedacht, dass die Vignette dann nicht mehr gültig ist. Habe eine Strafe über 120 Euro erhalten obwohl das Auto eine Vignette hat- Kulanz gibt's keine ,muss zahlen- wer weiß wie oft noch, denn ich war oft auf der Autobahn. Dafür darf ich zusätzlich 18€ Bearbeitungsgebühr für den Eintrag des neuen Kennzeichens zahlen, obwohl ich das online selbst eingetragen habe. Unfassbar

Ein Schreibfehler oder ASFINAG-Automat Fehler bei der Angabe des Kennzeichens an der Grenze Slowenien-Österreich (ein Buchstabe fehlte) führte dazu, dass ich zusätzlich zu den Kosten der Vignette 12,40 € NOCH 120 € bezahlt habe.

Ich konnte über die Website keine Anfrage absenden, da das Feedback-Formular nicht funktionierte – ich habe es etwa 20 Mal versucht. Danach habe ich eine E-Mail an die allgemeine Adresse info asfinag.at geschrieben.

Der Online-Banking-Kontoauszug, mein PKW-Kennzeichen, das Foto meines Wagens mit diesem Kennzeichen und der ASFINAG-Automaten Beleg wurden fristgerecht der ASFINAG zur Verfügung gestellt. Mir wurde in vollem Ernst telefonisch geantwortet, als ob ich das für Slowenien gezahlt habe und wahrscheinlich mit 5 Autos ohne gültige Österreichische Vignette gefahren bin. Zur Info: eine Vignette für ein Monat für Slowenien kostet in meinem Fall 32 €, ich habe aber den richtigen Betrag i.d.H.v. 12,40 bezahlt. Also arbeiten bei ASFINAG auch die Leute, die Fehler machen oder keine Ahnung haben und gleichzeitig nicht entgegen gehen wollen.

Keine Kulanz! Absolut lächerlich und reine Ausbeute! 0 Sterne für ASFINAG.

Ta firma to oszustwo. Kupiliśmy opłatę elektroniczną, przejazd przez most Brenner. Niestety okazało się, że opłata została pobrana tuż po przekroczeniu bramki. Po 2 tygodniach przyszlo pismo z opata 120 euro. Byke. Przekonany, że wszystko się wyjasni. Okazało się inaczej. Obsługa na bardzo niskim poziomie. Zastanawiam się czy dotyczy to tylko polskojezcznej obslugi, czy wszystkich.

120,00 Euro (Ersatzmaut) wegen zu spät gekaufter Vignette in Österreich. Ein Informationsschreiben habe ich leider nicht bekommen und dann wird daraus ein Verwaltungsstrafverfahren(!!?).
Das Kennzeichen ist mitgeschnitten, wenn nachweislich jmd. eine 10-Tages-Vignette kauft, auch 1 Stunde später, weil nicht gleich einen Automaten gefunden bei Einfahrt (nach Österreich) darf man ein wenig zeitliche Toleranz erwarten. So ist es einfach Abzocke.
Entweder keine Steuer und Vignettenpflicht für alle oder Fahrzeugsteuer hoch. Personal und technischer Aufwand nur auf einer Seite.
Das System führt u.a. auch zur Mehrnutzung der normalen Straßen und damit mehr Abgas in Österreich.

Kleiner Fehler bei der Eingabe des Kennzeichens, keine Möglichkeit, die 20 € zurückzuholen. Im Nachgang gab es dann zusätzlich eine Nachgebühr von 120 €. Einspruch, zwecklos. Somit 140 € für nichts. Ihr seid ein Abzockverein übelster Sorte. Ösis, ihr seid das Allerletzte!

Bought a Vignette and I made an error on an 0 and an O on a Slovakian number plate as I'm unfamiliar with the plate format being a UK citizen. When you buy the Vignette there is no number plate validation in the checkout! I was fined despite proving I had purchased a Vignette. The claim has been declined. Very disappointing.

Why is it that France and Germany accept my V5 logbook for emissions class but asfinag dont!
Got a go box at services they scanned my V5 and asked what the emissions class is. Asked for money 100 euros to load it up , now I get this letter in the UK wanting more evidence of class which I dont have.
Well I won't be going back to Austria in my motorhome so no more tourist money from me and I would imagine many others as well

I had a very disappointing experience with ASFINAG. On my way from Vienna Airport, an official diversion in Fischamend forced me directly onto the motorway. At the entrance I immediately realized that a vignette was required – but there was no way to stop or turn around safely, as cars were behind me.

I did exactly what a responsible driver should do: I continued safely and purchased a vignette at the first available petrol station (OMV Raststation Göttlesbrunn). This was only three minutes after the alleged violation was recorded. Three minutes! That includes finding parking and queuing inside the station.

Despite this, ASFINAG still issued a fine and completely ignored the circumstances. When I appealed, their reply showed zero empathy and simply repeated “rules are rules”. They offered no explanation of what a driver should realistically do in such a situation. Am I expected to reverse on a motorway entrance and cause a traffic accident, just to avoid a fine?

This rigid and robotic approach punishes responsible behavior and leaves a very negative impression for visitors. I respect the laws, but fair treatment and common sense should also matter.

Tourists beware: even if you act immediately and in good faith, ASFINAG will not care.

I bought and sticked the vignette and after 2 months it comes a 120 euro fine. If you fail to pay additional 300 to 3000 euros fine will incur. I am sceptical how this company issue these. Is it equalise someone that doesn't pay and cross the country with someone that pay and have the facts and receipts. I see alot of people here call this company a scam. Every country except Germany for car drivers has tolls or vignette and Austrian network with no justification send fines..

Attenzione al sistema delle Vignette per il pagamento del pedaggio autostradale. La Vignetta deve essere applicata in modo corretto sul parabrezza prima di entrare in Austria. Mettono una telecamera al confine e ti inviano una multa di 120 euro, aumentata a 350 se non si paga entro 4 settimane dall'invio e non dalla ricezione della lettera. Ho protestato e scritto a vari livelli perché ho acquistato e regolarmente applicato la Vignetta dopo qualche km dal confine ed esattamente dopo soli 8 minuti, il tutto ampiamente giustificato con foto e ricevute. Non accettano alcuna giustificazione e pretendono il pagamento dei 120 euro, sanzione esageratamente incongruente con i 12,50 euro previsti per 10 GG, e peraltro regolarmente pagati e quindi i 120 euro sono letteralmente estorti per un ritardo di pagamento di 8 minuti!!! Da parte mia, dei miei amici e dei miei parenti tutti non metteremo più piede in Austria, dove vige un sistema di gestione autostradale, che mira solo a estorcere denaro agli improvvidi automobilisti di passaggio.
