Insane login issues
Login issues all the time because they insanely use your full name instead of an email address as the login, and the only way you find this out is in an email from your employer telling you how to login (which I never received). If you use your email address it makes you reset your password every time you login. It's 2025 and the company's solution to this rediculous user experience is to WRITE AN ARTICLE telling you to use your name (and mentioning that you might have numbers added if you have a common name). Fix the login issues, this is beyond unaccceptable.

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE 2FA invalid code!!!!!
Absolute worst can’t believe that it’s been 3 whole days and still trying to log into my 2FA to put my information in, did everything right followed all instructions to sync my time and date, get the authentication app and still haven’t logged in yet and the agency already reset my account yesterday still same problem. I don’t get why make it so hard for us to just log-in to put our info, it’s giving me stress how am I supposed to put my time sheet and my other information in how long would it take? How am I supposed to get paid the week after if this keeps going? At least have a call centre so that we can contact you guys to help customers out Troubleshoot. overall wasted my time do better and make it simpler to make our experience better! And one more thing still don’t understand why you would need to log-in and then log-in again with a code just to say invalid code why can’t you have just one secured log-in to enter the whole menu just like other websites that have one user one password there you’re logged on the profile simple as that.

5 years on and still best decision made moving to Astute
We have been using Astute for 5 years, it was one of the best moved we have made.
The implementation team to our Account manager have been amazing making the change seemless and also providing that ongoing support.
Over the years we have seen Astute's development team finding ways to make the system better and enourage users to supply idea and vote to ensure what they are looking at, The support team are quick to action requests for help.

Astute is great and our Account Manager is amazing
We have been using Astute for years, it's a huge time saver for a large payroll. It has been reliable too; any rare issues that do come up seem to get resolved in a timely manner. The best thing about Astute is Krysten our Account Manager, seriously the most knowledgeable and friendly person we have ever dealt with as a supplier to our business. Nothing is ever a problem and we feel like we have someone that is committed to seeing our business run smoothly, hence Astute being able to keep loyal clients. If I was Astute I would double Krysten's pay immediately.

Applicable to multiple Agency payroll environments - Excellent Support
We've used Astute Payroll for several years to support Agency payrolls over multiple industry sectors. Astute is a powerful payroll solution that is very good in terms of it's application to the recruitment industry.
We have experienced issues, however this is to be expected when dealing with multiple awards in shiftwork environments. Astute has been forthcoming in developing solutions to these issues and the support from the Account Management team has always been excellent.

Poor UX/UI, poor support and poor reporting
We are a recruitment company and although there are plenty of options for Payroll Systems for processing regular payroll of full-time employees, there are limited options for Payroll Systems that are set up with the Labour Hire workforce in mind. Astute is one of the few that do offer this functionality, so it is why we chose to go with them. I have used their platform at other companies as well.
The good is that it does have all the functionality you would require especially for invoicing clients for time worked by contractors, if that is the main reason for using the software. If not there are plenty of better options out there.
The bad is definitely the reporting capabilities, support and useability. It does feel like it was built in the mid-90s with no UX/UI in mind and having to jump into different sections of the platform to complete basic functionality like processing a pay run or getting basic reports. There are plenty of reporting options, but most to be useful need to be exported to a detailed Excel file as you can't re-order reports based on end date etc. The other major issue is support. There is no longer any phone support, so when there are issues with payroll and it's holding up pay runs you can expect on average 3 to 5 days turnaround after receiving an automated response saying "we'll be back in touch as soon as possible". This has always been bad, but getting worse over time and definitely the main reason why we are seriously looking to switch platforms.

Astute Payroll is fantastic, both my contractors and clients like it too. However the helpdesk is very slow to respond even when you have stated its URGENT. Once you do get someone to help they are great.

We have saved so much time and stress since we started using Astute Payroll. There are many wonderful things about it but there are also some things that can be improved, such as submitting timesheets and personal details using a mobile phone. We have many payees getting in touch with us as they have issues doing these two things. Overall it is a great product.

Mostly the issues are around day to day annoyances.
I hasten to add that the responsiveness of the help team has generally been pretty good!
1) The work flow is disjointed, having to jump from menu to menu to complete a pay run.
2) Simple functions which should be available in any grid (table) don't work.
For example sorting a column on dates.
3) The help function needs updating to be more useful.
4) One ticket item regarding consolidation of journals to MYOB has not been addressed for over six months.
