Ejected to make room for another customer!
For the first time in my life, I've been expressly required to leave a luxury restaurant to accommodate other guests! I had booked a table to celebrate my son's birthday, the food was good and the service was impeccable. Things started to get a bit odd when an employee showed up unsolicited with our bill and pressed us for an immediate payment like might be expected in some cheap joint. We complied after she insisted twice and immediately thereafter, were firmly required to leave the premises"without delay" to make room for a ring of angry and vocal young women. I have no doubt that the personnel had been bullied into making us leave but that is no excuse. As much as I understand the need to keep tourists happy, it shouldn't happen at the expense of other customers, basic manners and values! Some customers are hard to deal with and those from certain geographies, expecting deference, and requiring special treatment, or exemption from normal rules because of wealth or social position even harder but that shouldn't translate into favoring people over others and certainly not lead to what amounts to an ejection!
