Yahoo Auctions Japan allows sellers to cancel auction results without any repercussions whatsoever. So if a seller does not like the auction results, they simply cancel it. This is a waste of time for consumers. Now I have to request a significant refund from the proxy service. A waste of my time and effort.

If anything goes wrong with the transaction, you're on your own. I won the bid on a camera dry cabinet. When it arrived it proved nonfunctional. The seller refused a return. Yahoo let the payment go through and have not answered my request for a refund. That was in August 2023. They did not even answer any of my emails, and I am stuck with a worthless item.

As a buyer who has been purchasing things all around the internet for more than a decade, I admit I had stereotypes in mind about japanese people. I thought they were super honest, selling clean products etc etc...

That's what I thought till I go to YahooAuctions...

Simple : I've never been scammed as much as this in my entire life, and my experience with japanese sellers is not big at all.

I'm mostly buying pokemon cards, and let me tell you, japanese people are ripping you off with that. YahooAuctions is the site of counterfeited cards. There are so much fakes there I feel i'm on etsy or aliexpress.

Also, there are a lot of dishonest japanese sellers over there. And the website doesn't prevent it at all, it encourages it!

As I said, it's full of forgers selling fakes. They don't get banned or lawsuited, they just keep selling fakes and Yahoo doesn't care. There are also sellers who put a picture on their auction, send you the same type of product, but it's not exactly the product on the picture (it's a bit more damaged).

But that's not all. There are also sellers who bid on their own auctions to raise the price (shill bidding)! You think you're battling someone to win an item, the price goes up, and up, and up till you're fed up. Only then, just before the auction gets shut down, you receive an e-mail saying the seller "erased a bid" so you actually won the auction. Because yes, the sellers can do that on YahooAuctions, THEY ALLOW SHILL BIDDING!!! How convenient isn't it? You're actually alone on the auction, but the seller will rip you off making you think his item is hardly disputed. And YahooAuctions has nothing against it. They won't erase all the bids of your opponent, only the highest so you pay the max as a good gaijin :)

For real, I've never seen this of my whole life. And my picture of japan and japanese people took a harsh bump with this. An advice for the buyers : stick to ebay. They are not perfect but they are much cleaner and there are japanese products there too. YahooAuctions is unclean as hell. They force you to purchase through a middle man, you can't do anything directly on their site, and their policy is just rigged towards customers. And particularily foreign customers.

At first I didn't understand why YahooAuctions is not directly available if you live in Europe. Now I know. The customers have 0 right or protection there. That's their policy. Fortunately our European laws protect the customer. We have paypal and stuff to avoid any scam. YahooAuctions don't like it, that's all :)

COMPANY REFUSES TO ADD A "WANT NOW" FEATURE TO THEIR SITE SO THAT BUYERS, LIKE ME, CAN BUY ULTRA-RARE THINGS THAT SELLERS HAVE NO CLUE WE WANT AND GO ON THEIR OWN WAY OR THROW THEM AWAY WITHOUT REALIZING THE BUYER NEEDS IT!

COMPANY REFUSES TO RESPOND TO MY CUSTOMER SERVICE FEEDBACK ABOUT THIS, ONLY EBAY AND TRADEME IN NEW ZEALAND SOMEWHAT DO!

COMPANY IS MUCH HARDER FOR FOREIGN RESIDENTS, LIKE MYSELF, TO REGISTER ON AND BID DIRECTLY ON THERE WITHOUT HAVING TO USE A MIDDLEMAN COMPANY OR INDIVIDUAL TO GO THROUGH WHEN PURCHASING AN ITEM!

COMPANY ALLOWS TOO MUCH SNIPING OF ITEMS AND LESS FAIR COMPETITION!

I USE THIS COMPANY TO PURCHASE ULTRA-RARE JDM TOYOTA BROCHURES FROM THE 1980S AND I DEMAND A WAY TO MAKE SELLERS KNOW WHAT IM LOOKING TO BUY STILL THAT INCLUDES A PHOTO UPLOADER IF YOU HAVE A PHOTO OF THE ITEM AND IF NOT A GOOD DESCRIPTION THAT WOULD BE AUTOMATICALLY TRANSLATED TO JAPANESE!

You need to set your target price for any auction. I just noticed that some sellers are actually bidding against you and push the price upward.

Yahoo Auctions will offer you zero help in case of a problem. I purchased a product from a seller, but this product was not original. I contacted the seller through Yahoo, and they agreed to cancel after they receive the item. I sent the item, but then the seller couldn't cancel from their end, and Yahoo refused to help even though they could check our communication where we agreed to cancel.
Besides, the website will not accept emails in English, and will only offer (help) in Japanese! A very frustrating experience to say the least.

P.S. the product was about 500 USD.
