Я пользуюсь сайтом automobile-catalog.com уже много лет, и его база данных по-прежнему впечатляет. Проект имеет огромный потенциал, и база данных действительно огромна. Однако за последние несколько месяцев я столкнулся с тремя критическими проблемами, которые делают использование платформы практически невозможным.

1. Агрессивная анти-бот защита (капча).
Сайт использует чрезмерно агрессивную проверку (антикапча). Она появляется каждые 5-10 минут, даже при обычном просмотре страниц. Это разрушает весь пользовательский опыт. Создаётся ощущение, что тебя постоянно проверяют, а не дают работать с данными.

2. Проблемы с производительностью и совместимостью.
На сайте, по-видимому, используются устаревшие скрипты, что приводит к ошибкам «не отвечает» в современных браузерах. Более того, некоторые современные браузеры (например, последние версии Firefox или Chrome) система ошибочно определяет как устаревшие, блокируя доступ к полному функционалу. Это явная проблема на стороне сервера, а не пользователя.

3. Спорная монетизация через Patreon.
Я понимаю необходимость поддержки проекта, но платформа Patreon, по сути, не связана напрямую с автомобильной тематикой. И вместо того, чтобы улучшать пользовательский опыт, администрация, кажется, сосредоточена на удалении (флаге) негативных, но справедливых отзывов на разных проектах, даже уважаемых. Это вызывает сомнения в прозрачности проекта.

Вывод: База данных отличная, но техническое состояние сайта и подход к модерации вызывают серьёзные вопросы. Надеюсь, владелец обратит внимание на эти технические аспекты, чтобы не потерять лояльную аудиторию.

Pavel, stop selling thin air. The manufacturers are already laughing at you

I'm not writing this out of malice. I'm writing this as someone who truly values genuine effort and respects the history of this website. But what's happening now isn't just a mistake—it's a strategic own goal. And here's why.

1. Your "exclusive" data is just free information from the manufacturers.
You've put up a paywall for things that are publicly available from the car companies themselves. GAZ Group, BMW, Mercedes-Benz etc—they all publish dimensions, ground clearance, fuel tank capacities, and gear ratios etc - for free. FREE. Do you seriously think they're happy about someone repackaging their public data and charging for it? If they wanted to, they could shut this down with a single legal letter faster than your script can calculate 0-60 mph. Their lawyers are probably already having a quiet chuckle at your expense.

2. Your database is outdated and full of errors. It's embarrassing.
Okey - people pay, but what do they get? A prettier wrapper for misinformation. Examples: You still list the drag coefficient (Cx) for classic Volga cars as 0.50, when the real figure for the GAZ-24 is 0.48, and for the GAZ-3110 it's 0.44! This isn't a typo—it's just wrong. And where's the GAZ-31011 with its 200bhp V8? Nowhere to be found.

You're selling tickets to a museum where the labels on the exhibits are all mixed up. And you missed some models from Nissan, BMW etc! Or Nissan Patrol Y61:
• No data available for the TD42T turbodiesel (158 hp / 360 Nm) → key engine for the Middle East and Australia.
Land Rover Discovery II:
• No version with TD5 engine (180 hp) and off-road gearboxes available.

3. Your "genius" calculating engine is stuck in 2010.
Yes, your ProfessCars™ simulations are unique and valuable (credit where it's due). But let's be brutally honest: your algorithm calculates acceleration up to 270 km/h (which is fine for some 2002 BMW 540i E39, but even there 0-260 is missed...), so where are the 0-260, 0-280, 0-290 km/h figures? They simply don't exist. And what about hypercar owners chasing 400, 450, or even 500 km/h? Your site is useless to them. Also, for example tuners who are shoehorning modern engines into classic shells (with a manual 7-speed gearbox, and modern ones with 8-speed, 9 and even 10 speed automatic gearboxes) can't get the data they need—like 80-120 km/h flexibility on a new transmission — from your platform - it shows only on 6th speed... Now Your tool belongs in a museum, not in a real engineering workshop.

4. Pavel, take a long, hard look at your Patreon.
Seriously? Patreon and OnlyFans are platforms for hobbyists, crafters, and bedroom creatives selling their own, unique content (photos, videos, hand-knitted socks). That's their work. They're not reselling Wikipedia tables. And you—a respected engineer with 15 years of experience—have lowered yourself to their level, except you're selling the equivalent of "pay me to read the owner's manual out loud." You've become a meme: "Pawel Zal's OnlyFans—pay $5 to find out how much an Audi weighs." It's a disgrace for a project that started as a true encyclopaedia of automotive passion. I have some screenshots, but everyone can check it - just try to look at the data, specs for absolutely any car!!!

I'll try to be as pragmatic as possible in my response to the above review, which is more of a humorous open letter to the automobile-catalog Author, for which I honestly don't know what prompted it.

1. Oh, there's way more there than that. It's enough to have a look. I'll treat the last part of this point as a sense of humor I don't quite understand...

2. This is a highly exaggerated, unfair, and unjustified statement, so I'll only address the part regarding the Cx value for the GAZ cars mentioned. There is indeed an entry in the database for the approximate drag coefficient value for cars for which the manufacturer doesn't provide factory data. The mentioned value of 0.50 is precisely such an approximation. If the Reviewer has factory data for these values ​​for these cars, simply send it to us along with the source, and we will, of course, implement it, for the benefit of all users. The same applies to car data that may be missing from the database – with already literally hundreds of thousands of records in the database, we can't rule out. I'd also like to point out the clear information on the website that the database is constantly being developed and updated...

3. Well, I really don't understand how the lack of acceleration calculations for a few individual cars existing in the world could justify such an emotional statement about a "museum." Oh, it's probably that sense of humor again...

4. I have great respect for the Patreon users who have decided to financially support the automobile catalog project. For us, this is the highest possible form of appreciation for our work over fifteen years. Most importantly, this support is based on a subscription. The fact that hundreds of people retain their subscriptions over time, often from the very beginning, is proof that the project's idea and the data in the database are appreciated and valuable to users. I would like to once again express my gratitude to all our Patreon supporters for this.
