I wouldnt recommend Bookvault to my worst enemy also.
It has been now a month and a half and they dont even respond to my emails anymore. I paid them, ordered a hardcover and everything was fine until it was publishing time. I bought a ISBN trough them that turned to be out old/used now they cant upload the book to Amazon because of the old/double ISBN issue and clearly they dont know how to solve it. They just took the money and I didnt get service. Also trying to get a quick answer is a waste of time.
DONT USE BOOKVAULT. YOU WILL REGRET IT AT SOME POINT 100%.
Great Service and Quality!
Since last year, I've been preparing my book for printing and distribution, and Tom has helped me along every step of the way to make sure the quality of the book is what I want it to be. The printing quality is great, and the interface for managing cusotmer orders is also user-friendly.
Highly recommend any comic/manga artist to use Bookvault for their books.
Bookvault is great in theory... in practice, not so much!
Bookvault is great in theory. In practice it leaves a lot to be desired!
After trialling three copies, I've found poor quality in the proofs, and I am not at all confident in having these sent directly out to my customers. This would reflect very badly at me and likely lead to my reputation being ruined.
So, why not order and dispatch myself you ask? Well that did cross my mind, but bookvault seem very slow in responding to contact emails (average so far is 5 days!!! I'm not prepared to have to wait this amount of time between every small query if my copies come to me with faults.
Its a real shame as they greatly let themselves down. They did send an email out recently admitting their service and customer response time and that support had been sub-par, promising to restructure/improve. I doubt I will get to see this now as I'm looking elsewhere.
Terrible quality and customer service
The paperback graphic novel I received had frayed edges, the print color is extremely dull compared to the files I sent. The book also had white marks along the front and back of the book. I contacted customer service with no response.
1 Star
1 Star – Extremely Frustrating Experience
My experience with BookVault has been extremely disappointing.
This is not an isolated incident—it has happened three or four times. Every time I place an order, the payment is successfully deducted, but the order remains stuck in Draft status indefinitely. Despite reporting this issue multiple times, I was repeatedly told that the developers would investigate and fix the problem. Months later, the exact same bug still exists.
What made the experience even worse was the customer support. Instead of investigating the issue on their own systems, I was repeatedly asked to provide more and more evidence, including invoices, screenshots from the platform, and even screenshots from my bank account, despite the payment already being visible through their Stripe payment system. It felt like the burden of proving their own system failure was constantly placed on me.
The most frustrating part is the lack of urgency. My payment was taken immediately, but I was left waiting for weeks without a proper resolution while my order remained unprocessed. I had to keep chasing support for updates instead of receiving proactive communication.
A payment system that accepts customers' money but fails to process orders is a serious reliability issue. The fact that this bug has persisted despite being reported several times raises concerns about both their technical infrastructure and their commitment to resolving customer issues.
Until BookVault fixes these recurring payment and order processing problems and significantly improves its customer support, I cannot recommend their service.
customer service is terrible
customer service is terrible. They try to avoid an issue rather than sort it out. I placed 1 test order and got the correct book I made, I placed a second order and got sent the completely wrong book. Getting the wrong book sent wasn't the issue however they are refusing to understand the error and keep saying the file I uploaded is wrong when in fact they simply sent the wrong book. They are not responding to emails and will not issue a refund or send the correct book.
BookVault is for me #1_5 Star.
BookVault I've found is high quality paper. I use 170 gsm. Colour print quality excellent. I've not had this option on other platforms. Consequently BookVault is for me #1_5 Star. Customer Service is amazing. Prompt. Professional and excellent follow through. Much appreciated.
Be cautious...first impressions count - not the print
I find it difficult to have confidence in BookVault based on my experience so far.
Despite requesting a callback through the online booking system - this failed, completing an enquiry form no reply to date - this failed, sending follow-up email and receiving no response - this failed, and requesting a sample pack - also failed. I have received no meaningful response for over four weeks....
For a company whose business relies on supporting authors and publishers, this reflects very poorly on the standard of customer service. If this is the experience before becoming a customer, it raises concerns about the level of support afterwards.
BookVault, I would appreciate someone contacting me to resolve this, this is your opportunity?
Great colours for Hardbacks, but unacceptable mechanical defects and zero QC on Paperbacks.
I moved to Bookvault specifically for their promised "premium" quality for my direct-to-consumer website sales. While they are often praised for using slightly thicker paper than their competitors, their actual paperback production falls well below acceptable industry standards for premium printing, and their outbound quality control is poor.
The Positives: The colour saturation on their hardbacks is excellent, and my bulk hardback orders have generally been of a high standard. If you are looking for vibrant covers on case bound, they do a good job here.
The Negatives: Their paperback production is severely flawed, particularly if you have dark, glossy covers. My last three consecutive paperback orders arrived with highly visible clamp/roller pressure marks baked into the laminate. My Amazon copies do have one faint clamp mark, and my Ingram copies are fully clear of clamp marks.
When I raised this with Bookvault's customer service and production manager, they admitted that these marks are an unavoidable result of the pressure values on their Infinitrim machines. They explicitly stated they cannot and will not do anything to prevent it.
Worse still is the complete lack of visual outbound checks. Two recent orders arrived with the laminate cracking and actively peeling along the spine due to an inadequate glue-curing window on paperback and hardback. Again they refused to adjust their curing process to rectify this.
The fact that books with severe structural failures were packed and shipped to me proves there is minimal to no manual quality control taking place.
Verdict: If you are an author running a professional direct-to-consumer business, you cannot rely on Bookvault for standard paperbacks, as damaged stock will be sent straight to your readers without any checks. The machinery they use bakes defects into the product, their dispatch process misses glaring structural faults, and their team considers this an acceptable compromise.
To any authors reading this who print paperbacks with Bookvault: I highly recommend ordering a copy to yourself right now and tilting the cover under a direct light. Check the front for one horizontal and two vertical indents or clamp lines. If your copies don't have them, then Bookvault is failing to provide consistent machine calibration. If they do have them, then we are all paying a premium price for a fundamentally flawed factory output.
I have had to move my paperback fulfilment elsewhere to maintain the quality I want my readers to receive.
Good idea but poorly executed. Avoid.
I have given 2 stars because the idea of Bookvault is good, but it is poorly executed.
I began using Bookvault in late 2025 and set it up to publish my book in 2026. The system is excellent in terms of setting up the title, getting all the specs right and the pricing is very good. I ordered sample copies to get it right and then went live. Everything was going well until:
- A batch of books had blurry photos. I received two myself. Bookvault replaced them but these were also blurry. The two that replaced these were fine, but they said they would investigate the issue.
- There are discrepancies in the tone of printers used. For example, my cover was black and white, but looked almost green on one book and brown on another. I was told this was par for the course with POD, which I suppose makes sense, but if you want a consistent run of book quality, then look elsewhere. Some books had end papers, others not at all.
- Many buyers never actually received their book, or it took weeks and weeks, and this leads me to why I had to stop using it in the end. After the issue with the blurry photos, I told them to stop distributing the book because I was concerned about the quality. The issue with their customer service is not what they say, it is that is takes 2 days (sometimes longer) to reply to each message. So you can send a question, wait a few days for a reply, then, if there is a follow-up you have to wait another few days. This means issues take a week or longer to be resolved. I was assured that outstanding orders would be fulfilled, but then I started receiving messages from customers saying their books had been cancelled because I had cancelled the title. I have had no further communication for over two weeks about the blurriness of the photos, outstanding orders being cancelled and the whereabouts of some orders. Therefore, I have been forced to look elsewhere, and I cannot recommend the service, which is a shame as I had high hopes at the beginning.
The automatic templates and upload…
The automatic templates and upload check work like a charm. They have quite an array of extensive options which I like and aren't easy to find elsewhere. Above all, their pricing is extremely competitive. Kayleigh Cliffe took the time to help out explaining the options and process, allowing me to successfully complete my order!
Misleading and confusing
I destest it when advertising is misleading. And especially when they are not clear in what they sell or advertised.
Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service. I had an issue with two orders arriving damaged and my customer service rep, Tom, was PHENOMENAL to work with. He shipped out new books at no extra cost to me, and suggested I donate my damaged copies somewhere to pay it forward. A DELIGHT to work with and made an unfortunate mishap out to be something good.
BookVault is pivotal to my Author…
BookVault is pivotal to my Author business. The team is quick to respond and help. Service is efficient. Above all, they're trustworthy. Which means, I can rest assured that my readers will get the service and quality they deserve!
DO NOT PRINT WITH THIS COMPANY
DO NOT PRINT WITH THIS COMPANY. We have had several printing issues with this company and they find every excuse not to assist you or rectify the issue. The response is basically, not our problem and we can't do anything about it. We have moved all of our business away from them due to this and will warn everyone not to use them as well.
Very positive experience with bookvault.app
I had a very positive experience with this company and especially with Kayleigh Cliffe- a member for the bookvault.app team. I ordered a bespoke product with an estimated delivery time of 3–5 weeks. After the fifth week passed without an update, I reached out and the team was completely transparent in explaining the reason why my order was delayed.
Rather than making excuses, they immediately took ownership of the issue, reprinted my order, and prioritized it for delivery within 10 business days — and they delivered exactly as promised.
I really appreciated the proactive communication, honesty, and efficiency throughout the process. Mistakes can happen with any company, but what matters is how they resolve them, and this team handled it professionally from start to finish. Thank you again to Kayleigh Cliffe for the excellent customer support!
Good service
I have been using the Bookvault service for years and today I received very good service again! Thank you Kayleigh Cliffe for the fast and good service ;)
I’ve had a really positive experience…
I’ve had a really positive experience using BookVault. The setup was simple, and the integration with my store made the whole process feel smooth and manageable, even without a technical background.
The print quality of the books is excellent, with clear text and beautiful colour reproduction, which is so important for children’s books.
It has allowed me to focus more on creating and sharing my stories, rather than worrying about logistics.
I would happily recommend BookVault to other authors looking for a straightforward and dependable print-on-demand solution.
Print quality is amazing and if…
Print quality is amazing and if anything goes wrong the customer service team is so helpful and always does their best to solve the problem. I've had the best experience with both Arron and Kayleigh who have gone above and beyond to get the issues resolved.
My wife discovered Book Vault…
Prior to my wife discovering Book Vault I had self-published 3 books so I am in a good position to compare BV to my previous experiences which frankly are incomparable. Everything about Book Vault is superior, from cost, to quality and particularly the level of personal service offered by Kayleigh Cliffe and her colleagues.
