Terrible on every level

Terrible on every level. Useless, liers, corrupted.
From perspective of council tenant i must say they do not handle neighbours from hell. Do not carry necessary repairs. Losses documents or pretend you never reported the issue.
Constantly hire cowboy builers to do some work that is not necessary or done in worst possible way which is causing more stress and work.
From perspective of private owner ,leaseholder now i am waiting 6 months from them to acknowledge the documents i filed for planning permission to erect conservatory.?!
As a citizen of Bristol , the town is the total dump, slums, filthy , ugly and mismanaged when it comes to roads, some abandoned buildings, junkies.
The town is an example of world level **** up.
Lots of people I know complain about BCC. Life is not easy but the level of crap BBC is delivering is a joke.

Bristol is a nasty dirty place

Bristol is a nasty dirty place
Driving into Bristol on the M32 you're likely to get a £100 fine
You have to pollute the area Round Bristol to avoid the charge Which means more pollution Which means more pollution Cause you've got to do an extra 10 miles. All Bristol city council want is your money
They must be really stupid. But some of the best scammers.

Private Housing team are useless

Private Housing team are useless. Had problems with damp and the neighbouring property for 8 months and called Bristol City Council in to intervene after neighbour decided to go incognito.

The person they sent assessed neighbour's property without my presence there so I only put my trust in his report and willingness to help. When he came and inspected my side of the property the inspection he did was exactly the same as the 2x plumbers and 1x damp-proof expert that I had previously asked to investigate before escalating to BCC. After a few months of exchanges with barely two sentences written about the legal framework which governs their work and what legal powers they have to enforce, nor any follow up help around what I could do to identify the cause of the damp as well as long delays in their responses, I eventually complained only to have my complaints upheld twice, still so many questions unanswered. This is NOT GOOD public service! Terrible standards! BCC in need of serious reform!

Horrible experience

Horrible experience! The looks of disgust on the front desk CSA’s face was clearly one of a pure racist or someone who hates their life.

Also housing advisor Rebecca Slade sat at a desk 5 metres away from us but instead of coming over to speak to us she phoned us to say ‘I’ll call you at 9am tomorrow with an offer of emergency accommodation’ (liar!)…… that shows me she has no respect and clearly thinks that we are so BELOW her that she won’t even walk 5 steps to inform face to face.

HOMELESSNESS TEAM did not reply to 8 emails and cannot be contacted on phone. SHAME ON YOU!!!

I am my dear elderly frail 90 year old…

I am my dear elderly frail 90 year old mum's full time Carer, she had a couple of very bad falls in her home last year to which one was in her living room and another fall coming back down her stairs from her upstairs toilet was unfortunately a horrible accident falling down those very stairs. The hospital X-Ray showed she broke her neck and had to stay at Southmead Hospital for a full month. On her return she applied for an accessible homes grant with the council (Because dear mum's 'financially challenged' or not got a lot!...as some may say..)..and a few months later she was awarded it..we thank very much the council for that, for their help and support in particular the Occupational Therapist who helped her. A few weeks later the stairlift people '1st Choice Stairlifts' came last week for installation..everything fine and OK so far and good..mum is using it which is great! and the important thing...we noticed one or two qualms though and mention the rail is considerably BIGGER than she imagined and almost comes across towards the middle of the stairs, that is the actual stairlift rail and floor brackets, ..also she said it is painfully slow..guess it has to be because of health and safety/Disability, and also it was mentioned at the beginning to be put on the left side of the stairs so then it would stop at the top infront of her toilet..but the decision seems to of been made by 1st Choice.. to install it on the right side so that it parks infront of her bedroom door? Although no real explanation was given for this change of plan..and that leads me to lastly mention that when she needs to go to the toilet in the night or first thing in the morning after getting up her stairlift is parked upstairs infront of her bedroom door for access to downstairs..ok... she cannot get through her Zimmer Frame out of her bedroom properly because of the stairlift and the bedroom doorframe, both get in the way, the gap is too small...though she can get through but only if she rides the Zimmer through at an angle, so will have to think of something there we suppose, besides all the above mentioned AOK! And a great help from the council accessible homes for helping and assisting my dear mum with her disability:)

Probably the worst council in England

Probably the worst council in England. So many things to list, but here are a few: the ugliest, worst managed parks I've ever seen; lack of wild green space; recycling bins with no lids in a windy city = garbage always flying everywhere; bin collections irregular/unpredictable; car parking regulations not enforced - cars park on the pavements all over the city, so pedestrians are often forced to walk in the road; the council keep removing kids swings and the rope-swings locals build to replace them. BCC need to hire some intelligent people.

Just a word of warning to anyone faced…

Just a word of warning to anyone faced with a penalty from Bristol city council, just like all the other companies out there jumping on the bandwagon making money out of hard working individuals for parking fines etc. Appeal appeal appeal!!
Just paid £30 for a bus lane penalty , money taken !! Month later a charge certificate for £60, reason being although they took the £30 happily they want a further £60 saying the £30 was paid later then the 14 days!!
So I have now paid in total £90
Absolutely diabolical!!
The ones that don t pay their fines get away with it while other folks pay the price. Shame on you Bristol City Council

The City Centre

I very rarely go or need to go into the city centre. But unfortunately today was one of those days. But I was absolutely shocked at the amount of empty shops where businesses had closed down. Yet there is new building work going on everywhere. I find it really disturbing that there has been peoples livelihoods ruined and yet there is money being wasted on new building work. The council clearly have there priorities wrong here, would it not be better to support the existing community and companies than invest in new, particularly considering the 18 months that we have all encountered.

Their bus gate layout in the city is designed to confuse and just generate income. We know what a bus lane should look like and this isn't it. They are keen to bill your number plate when ever possible

This Council is

This Council, supposedly Labour run, is actually a complete farce. It is a comedy act without any humour. Why? It's hard to know where to start!

Rivers of money flow under this thing, and despite most coming from ordinary working people they are diverting it in a manner that would be admired by the lowest moral tier of Mafia. Examples:-
1. The top executives and managers on six figure salaries, whilst other staff are sacked or threatened with redundancy.
2. They continuously fork out money to the private sector. Investment banks, well-funded organisations, property outfits. No prizes for guessing how these pay their 'top' employees.
3. They don't listen. They resent democracy so much that they closed the neighbourhood partnerships and short-circuited means to properly challenge planning decisions.

So actually what this Council resembles is a reverse robin hood. The money is literally extorted from the poor and middle classes (who face JAIL if they don't pay the Council Tax / Poll Tax), then palmed off to the rich (in ways noted above).

To be fair they are not unique from other British councils in how they act but that's no excuse. Another thing: their planning department is ripe for an undercover journalist. The practices there are abominable. Put it this way: a few pockets are getting very heavy, courtesy of council tax payers.
