Extremely Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional and Unresponsive
I engaged British Damp Proofing for a timber and damp inspection required for a time-sensitive mortgage application. Despite paying in full (£90) and providing all necessary details promptly, the firm displayed a concerning lack of urgency and professionalism throughout.
Initial contact was limited to a single voicemail left on a landline, with no follow-up via email, text, or alternative channels — a basic expectation in any modern service interaction, particularly when timelines are critical. This inadequate communication resulted in a delayed inspection date nearly a month after the initial engagement, jeopardising the progress of a property transaction involving multiple parties.
When I requested the service to be expedited, the company flatly refused and instead offered a refund, effectively abdicating responsibility rather than demonstrating any willingness to rectify the situation. No effort was made to accommodate the urgency of the matter, despite their earlier suggestion that appointments could typically be arranged within a couple of weeks of payment.
This experience reflects a lack of client focus, operational agility, and service accountability. I would advise anyone requiring time-sensitive property inspections to seek a more reliable and responsive provider.
