I would like to give another positive…

I would like to give another positive review to this company. Contrary to what other customers write, in my case the company rose to the challenge. I did not receive one product with the order. I submitted a request on their website and after a few days they refunded the funds to my account, so thank you very much.

Zero response to dead mantis

We had a Dead leaf praying mantis from Bugpets that lived for 20 months and was a brilliant pet. When he died we ordered a new mantis which arrived and sadly died 8 days after it arrived, suddenly overnight. There is a 7 days guarantee but I received no reply to any of my contact form enquiries on their website. For over £40 I feel I at least deserved a response. Sadly we will not buy from them again and will discourage anyone who I speak to.

Taken delivery of one of these giant African Millipedes, it unfortunately died within 4 days of receivership. We fully completed the 7 day live guaranteed form including a 5+ second video as required. We have had no form of response, send a follow up email a few days later and still no response. Very disappointing that Bug Pets do not respond to customers and this 7 day live guarantee doesn’t seem to be worth anything particularly when it gets ignored. Noticing there seems to be a common theme with the severe lack of response. Also worth noting that weirdly you can’t seem to leave a negative review on the website!!! Avoid this shop.

No complaints from me, I got the Lissachatina Reticulata and it arrived snuggly packed and safe. Arrived on the day I selected. Beautiful little baby.

I placed an order on the 10th of February for a Giant African Millipede and starter kit. I paid £71.99 for the kit and live millipede, plus an extra £12.99 for standard livestock shipping. My chosen delivery date was the 18th of February.

I received an email on the day my delivery was supposed to arrive, stating that my order would be delayed due to cold weather and should arrive by the 20th.

Since then, I’ve been actively trying to track my order, but I’ve had no further updates or delivery confirmation. I’ve contacted the website via the “Contact Us” form three times with no response. I’ve also messaged them on Instagram and Facebook, but only received automated replies. The email address they provide is a no-reply address, and any attempt to email them fails.

My order should have arrived five days ago. I’m now worried that my package has been lost or that I’ve been scammed. I wouldn’t even mind waiting if someone would reply to my messages and give me an update. This business is extremely unreliable.

I advise everyone to spend their money elsewhere and support a different business.

Poor comms from seller, arrived weeks late

Great, modern looking website ... Ordered end of Nov 25. Expected delivery a week later. Nothing arrived, emails failed, could only message via the website. Comms very poor. However I was fortunate to receive the order 23rd Dec. Mantis was barely alive as it had been stuck in the post fri - mon as no comms to tell me to be home to receive the delivery. Luckily the mantis eat immediately and currently doing well. I will try another seller for the next order.

Ordered on 8th December no communication can’t email as it bounced back saying undeliverable- had to raise a dispute with my bank to try and retrieve the £75 spent

Giant African Land Snail

Ordered a giant African land snail
And knew within a month or so that she was a runt and should have been culled.
Bought in March 2025, died Nov 2025 and barely grew. Extremely disappointed and won’t shop there again

Very well packed fast delivery

I ordered an African glsnail on the weekend and came with royal mail on Wednesday they didn't send me an email that was coming that's the only thing that I can fault them but the snail was healthy good size and I was amazed at how well packed was with heat pad and everything,I'm very happy and I will place an order again for sure on near future

Personally a really good experience.

I was actually quite anxious as I read all other reviews just after I purchased but my experience has been really good. One downside is the communication as others have said. I got one e-mail from them which was the one I got after I placed the order. No other updates except the one Royal Mail sent me letting me know it was on the way. To add to my worries after reading the reviews I tried to contact them with the support e-mail on their confirmation e-mail but the e-mail kept getting rejected - which as you can imagine after reading so many bad reviews didn't help my anxiety. I found that messaging them on Instagram was the best way as they replied the next day on there to let me know she was on the way.

I ordered on the evening of the 31st and my Orchid Mantis was with me 5th November before 1 and she looked amazing and the enclosure and flies and rearing cage I ordered was all there as well.

I think this is a case of it's always people who have bad experiences leaving reviews and the many more people who have good experiences don't say anything. Personally other than the worry that I was not going to get anything because of the bad reviews they do what they say on the tin. Just had to put faith in the process and I am very happy and my daughter is going to be thrilled with her present.

i have ordered a acrchatina …african land snail only one in stock

i have ordered a acrchatina immauculata snail on the 17th of october 2025 i have paid nrly £30 pound the snail was £19 and rest was speedy delivery heat pack etc i am still waiting ihvae had no emails no idea if the snail is even been disbatched out no tracking nothing at all i am waiting prob gonna get a deceased snail if it turns up i have no way of knowing i have sent 3 emails they say they are having email issue due to a merger not my fault or prob i have paid my money iam very angry frustrated and i just want ansers i have a duty of care to this pet once it arrives but there already failing that at their end if i had known id never have touched this company

Rip off

I ordered this item as a birthday present for my child (needed it before I could get the tarantula) and also paid for next day delivery.
I waited and waited and after emailing to see where the item was, I had a response to say they're out of stock! Nobody was going to inform me otherwise.
I was told they managed to source one, however when the kit arrived it did not contain a heat mat as is in the description and picture, it also only contained one plant rather than two. Obviously I did not get next day delivery like I paid for.
The other items are of cheap quality and would recommend getting cheaper and better elsewhere.
I emailed about the lack of heat mat and plant and never had a response. Feel completely ripped off.

Great Variety and Quality - Communication Could Be Better

This company offer a wide variety of unusual pets, the website is full of helpful information about caring for your new pet, in my case, a Ghost Mantis. They offer starter packs with everything you'll need, at incredibly reasonable prices. What disappointed me was the lack of communication. They do make it clear that any developing situations will be communicated by a red banner at the top of their Web page, in this situation it was delaying posting of Live Animals due to extreme heat - fine. I would rather have had an email or text, just something automated to keep me updated. I kept an eye on the website banner and saw that they had resumed delivery of Live Animals. However my order remained "Processing" for days after this. Again, no communication. I understood that they were probably backlogged, but I had no update. When I eventually decided to contact them, I got the automated email confirming my order had been dispatched, but no actual reply to my email. No tracking was provided but it was a tracked delivery.

Poor insect condition and no contact

I ordered a Giant Prickly Stick Insect, on the 8 August 25. Received an email to say they had received my order. Shipping was very expensive.
I received no email to confirm dispatch. Royal Mail tried to deliver the insect but took it away and was in the depot all weekend. Resulting in a re delivery on the Monday. The stick was in very poor condition and has subsequently died now on the 21 August with a distraught child.
The not receiving a dispatch email may have resulted in the insect being in better condition on arrival, possibly. I’m not sure. But I have emailed several times to first ask for advice on its condition and then to air my frustration with the lack of response. I’ve still not had a response and the website is down for maintenance ever since I bought the stick insect. Please don’t buy anything from this site. They should be reported to animal welfare.

Crabs good, communication awful.

Ordered 3x Red Apple Crabs on 19th Jul. Order arrived 22nd Jul but only received 2 crabs. I had no advance notification that only 2 would be sent.
Contacted Bug Pets via email on 22nd and 25th Jul to request partial refund but have been ignored.
The crabs appear to be in good health and delivery was speedy.
