For some considerable time I had attempted to construct what I felt was a simple CCTV Surveillance system.

The concept might be simple but Sellers advertising their CCTV Surveillance wares on Ebay & Amazon seemed to go out of their way to make it at best awkward, and at worst impossible.

The main points of consideration for the system were (1) the resolution at which the video data would be recorded and (2) the ease with which the recorded data could be transferred to external devices for archiving or editing.

In total I contacted eleven Sellers/Manufacturers of DVR's (Digital Video Recorders) and, prior to each purchase, asked them to confirm a recording resolution of 1080P minimum (based on the cameras being used) as well as the ability of their product to permit Backup of recorded data via a USB port onto a Self-powered External Hard Drive with a capacity of 1TB minimum.

I can say, without fear of contradiction that, of the eleven Sellers contacted, NOT ONE gave an honest answer in regard to one or both of the questions.

I received many assurances that a resolution of 1080N was as good as 1080P, (it is very far from it) and I lost count of those who emphatically extolled the USB to External Drive functionality of their product, only to find they were confusing "REAL DRIVES" with Flash Drives/Sticks.

Only one of the eleven products actually recorded at 1080P resolution but, as the Data Backup was only possible onto a 32GB Flash Drive, the product was overall unsuitable.

Only two of the eleven devices detected the presence of an External Drive, but only one actually performed a successful backup.

Quite by chance, about a month ago, I came across CCTV Outlet whilst browsing the Internet.

At 13:40hrs I asked them to provide answers to the same questions as the previous eleven Sellers - by 15:22hrs those questions had been positively and confidently answered (including time taken for them to have sought confirmation of one point directly from the Manufacturer).

By 15:35hrs my order had been placed, paid for and acknowledged ---- a short while later I received confirmation the product had shipped and would be with me the following day.

The DVR arrived as promised and, not only was its appearance and construction of far superior quality to that of any of the eleven products previously tried, it took less than one hour for the Surveillance Hard Drive to be installed, the system to be configured to my requirements, and to prove (a) a genuine recording resolution of 1080P and (b) an ability to backup to an external Hard Drive.

Support questions answered honestly and speedily by the Seller, a device of excellent quality and functionality, and a flawless and efficient purchasing and delivery process too ---- Who could wish for anything more????
