Disappointing experience

I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience here. After a consultation, I paid in full for my scar removal laser sessions. Unfortunately, they messed up my very first appointment, I was understanding at the time and even said ‘that’s okay, it happens’ and agreed to reschedule.

When I returned for my new appointment, things only got worse. I was called in by someone (not the consultant I booked with, Naomi) who started preparing me for a completely different treatment: laser hair removal, which I never booked. At that point, it became clear how careless and disorganised the clinic is. After messing up my appointments twice, they tried to book me again but I refused and requested a refund, which I am still waiting to receive.

What makes it worse is the lack of care or concern from their side. Every visit costs me nearly £40 in travel plus taking time off work, yet they treated my situation with complete indifference. Paying upfront seems to have made them careless about me as a client.

I was genuinely looking forward to this treatment, but instead, I was left feeling disappointed, ignored and uncared for. I will now have to look elsewhere to get this done, and I won’t be returning. I only hope they issue my refund promptly.

Potential clients should be aware of how poorly this clinic handles bookings and how little consideration they show towards their client’s time, money, and trust.

Avoid this clinic

Avoid this clinic. Dr Simon Payne should not be able to practice and the staff at this clinic should be qualified if they are to intervene on his behalf.

I called this clinic as they were local to me, my initial quote was £300 for 3 lesion removals and they could book me in for 2 days time (this should have been the first red flag as they quoted me a lot less then other clinics and were not booked up). I made a £50 deposit for the consultation.

Upon arrival at the clinic I met Dr Payne who rushed through the consultation I struggled to keep up and ask questions. Dr Payne reviewed what I wanted which didn’t change except I agreed to have 1 of the lesions tested. It looked as though he was making numbers up on a piece of paper and said the total cost would now come to £670. I agreed to undertake 2/3 removals as I wanted the work done before my holiday and it was now similar to other clinic prices. He then told me to sign my name saying I have read the T&C’s which were no where to be found on the document. I noted I had a holiday in 3 weeks and wanted to check that it would still be okay to do this, he confirmed it would and started gearing up to undertake the work.

None of the areas were cleaned beforehand only numbed with local anaesthetic before they were cut open. Dr Payne lent on my leg to remove one of the lesions which was uncomfortable. Half way through the removal he asked me if I wanted all of it removed, this was bizarre to me as I couldn’t understand why I would only want some of it removed.

After 30 minutes the lesions were removed, this seemed rushed but I was happy for it to be over. The aftercare was explained briefly, the main point was to take some paracetamol if there was any pain. I was not provided with care items such as spare dressings. Ironically, Dr Payne ended by asking for me to give him a glorious review.

I woke up the next morning and saw one area had not stopped bleeding which meant the dressing was soaked and naturally came off. I saw the area was extremely bruised and bloody and the stitching was not done with care, this made me very light headed. I called the clinic and asked if Dr Payne could check everything was ok (the NHS do not get involved with private work) the receptionist said she would speak to Dr Payne and call me back. A few hours later she said they couldn’t see me at 3pm (they didn’t seem to care I was bleeding).

When I arrived the receptionist said Dr Payne could not make it so she would take a look and send him a photo. She took me back into the room and tried to pulled the stitches apart to see if they had come loose (this hurt a lot), she said everything was fine and after taking a photo put a new dressing on, she did not clean any of the area which was covered in dried and wet blood. Throughout this experience no one wore scrubs, only disposable gloves. She said she would send it to Dr Payne who would be back the next day.

I never heard back from Dr Payne other then a letter to state the lesion tested was benign (non-cancerous). I bought boxes of dressings and made an effort to clean the area over the next month.

Some time after I made it my point to see him and show him his work, he told me it became infected and I should have been on antibiotics, as it was not treated at the time there is nothing I can do other then try scar patches, which I did and they did not improve it. This has left a horrible mark on my body for life, not to mention the pain
I was in for the first 4 months which affected my job and day to day activities, 2 years on the area still hurts with direct pressure.

I wish I never went to this clinic.
