The watch arrived quickly from overseas directly. It was a refurbished watch, but it was actually in mint condition. In terms of communication, City Watches were great. I got regular updates as to where the watch was in the journey.

City watches.co.nz is not a new Zealand company
After paying for the watch which was said to be in stock and have a 2-4 day arrival date, I then sent multiple emails regarding the watch not being sent.
The customer service replies were vague and patronising.
After a week the watch finally shipped and arrived at customs.
Customs then quired the address as City watches had changed my home address to match the delivery address.
Why they did this is not clear.
I then had to lodge a new customs declaration to confirm my home address.
The watch finally got delivered after 2 weeks form order date.
Please be aware they ship from Singapore even though the website will convince you that is a locally based business.

Great company to deal with!
I’ve now purchased my second Seiko from City Watches, and once again I’m very happy with both the product and the service. The watch arrived exactly as described, well-packaged, and in perfect condition. Shipping was prompt, and the whole process felt smooth and reliable.
It’s reassuring to know I can count on them for genuine products at good value. Based on my experiences so far, I’d definitely recommend City Watches to anyone looking to buy a quality timepiece online.

The order arrived before the expected date, which is always pleasant. The package arrived in good condition. The product is great, as it is a great fit for me. I am looking forward to wearing this watch for many years to come. I am probably not a regular customer, but more of a buy good once and hold for as long as possible. I like to buy quality products.

Some trouble with unseen fees and slow postage
I bought an expensive watch and it arrived and was authentic.
However the postage took a couple of weeks not 2-6 days as advertised. And I was charged $140 by DHL so not free postage as advertised.
Due to incorrectly filled out paperwork I was charged GST at the border and it took 2 months and many emails to get it back.
The whole process has been slow but they did always eventually reply to emails and refunded the GST.
In the end I still saved a couple of thousand dollars compared to getting the watch from the manufacturer.
Also it has a 10 year warranty which I registered for no problem, but may be difficult to find a shop to do the work or I may have to send it to Switzerland.
With a watch less than $1000 it is likely none of this would be a problem.

Not based in NZ. I think they are based in SE Asia. No phone number, no address. I bought a watch for my son. Running far too fast. Contacted via web form and email, no response. I'm sure they are OK if you buy something and it's not defective but if anything goes wrong support and service is non existent.you can't call them or walk in anywhere and only way to contact them is via email which they don't answer

Check if it is genuine before you buy
Thought I was buying a genuine Bulova Marine Star but ended up with a fake Chinese copy for the price of a genuine one. I complained and requested a refund. They sent me the return envelopes with a tracking number so all I had to do was take it to the post office. With overseas purchases there is a huge risk of not getting the refund after the item is returned. However, we kept up polite correspondence and the refund came back through Paypal without delay. I gave them three stars for turning things around with their refund service which I thought was commendable. I bought a genuine Bulova watch from Chrono 24 and it is perfect.

I ordered and paid for a watch this morning and they have just informed me that the model is not in stock, despite it still showing on the website. I will update this if I receive my refund. It is unacceptable that companies appear that they are based in NZ when in fact they are not.

I placed an order with City Watches…poor customer service...still waiting for my refund!
I placed an order with City Watches from New Zealand in July. I had assumed they were a NZ based company due to their web handle. Unfortunately this is not the case, and the watch I ordered took longer than expected to arrive as the watch was arriving from Singapore. Unfortunately the watch was not suitable and I requested a refund. Their communication and time taken to respond was poor. The returns label process was a bit of a shambles and I ended up feeling like I was doing all the work printing labels, contacting the postal company etc. I sent the watch back and did not hear anything for a couple of weeks. I followed this up with them and they said there would be a 7-10 business day processing time....I am still waiting and its now September!! Poor service from citywatches.co.nz. I would not recommend purchasing from them unless this type of service is what you are hoping to receive!
