We have a "Fly the Flag" program in our town as a Rotary project.
We have over 500 3X5 flags on a 10 ft aluminum conduit installed in our town. The flags are installed before Memorial Day and taken down after Veterans Day and stored for the winter. The project is 6 years old,
I have tried over 10 brands of flags in that time, from $4.99 up from chain hardware and supply stores, and from online flag companies.
None of the other flags can hold a candle to the Collins flags.
About 18 months ago, I ordered 2 "test" flags, a nylon and a polyester flag to test. They have been outside 24/7 for over a year and a half, even in the harsh winter, and they look like brand new.
We installed 100 Collins Flags, 50 nylon and 50 polyester, last year and when we recovered them in November, the crews commented that these flags look like brand new. They were the Collins flags.
The problem we've had is that the other flags faded, shredded, stitching failed, and the bunting, the white stripe attached to the pole, had black mold and would not wash out. We would only get 1 to 2 years of service out of the other flags. I think we will get at least 3 to 4 years of service from the Collins flags, which will make it the least expensive flag in the long run.
We installed an additional150 nylon Collins flags this month. I choose the nylon flag over the polyester flag because it "flies" in a lighter wind. I like the polyester flag because of the brilliant colors and use it for inside applications.
As we replace our older flags this year, I will only use Collins Flags.

I was disappointed to receive the 5 x 9 flag in off-white color. I do not recollect the color information about the flag being off-white. The flag is fine and perhaps I missed the off-white Color information.
