Affordable and well organised surgery.

Everything was organised for me so I wasn't stressed.From organising the price,dates and picking me up at the airport I was very well looked after.
The hotel was was great with large rooms and a fantastic buffet breakfast.
The Hospital accommodation was great with a private room.
I had a mid facelift,upper eyelid surgery and chin lift.
The result is amazing and at a fraction of the price I would have paid in New Zealand and I had an overseas holiday with it.
I was extremely happy with the service and information provided right from the start. I was kept informed through the whole process.

A positive experience

I found Destination Beauty via Instagram, of all places. From the beginning, their rep Dayana was friendly and very helpful, and was ready to answer all my questions in detail. This made me feel organised and ready leading up to my trip to Thailand and my surgery.

Once I arrived in Thailand, their team was there to greet me at the airport. The hotel was a lovely experience, the staff were incredibly kind and everything was very clean and safe. The hotel is in a great location with lots of amenities close by and a shuttle bus available.

At the hospital I did experience a long wait time, but once Dr Kasemsak consulted with me, he listened. I had originally paid for a breast lift with implants, but after listening to what I wanted from the surgery, he suggested going with no implant. They refunded the implant payment, and looking at my results as of now, it was the right choice. Him suggesting going no implant and telling me he'd rather I have a refund then do a procedure I was going to be unhappy with, that really cemented that I had made the right choice.

Recovery and the rest of the trip was also a positive experience, and I met some lovely people during my time at the Somerset.

Destination Beauty - Evasive

Our experience with Destination Beauty (DB) was laboured from the beginning. My wife did five years of research on DB before deciding to make an appointment for a Breast Revision and Breast Lift (BR & BL). Our bad experience started before even leaving our home country, with pay challenges and non-communication from our rep.

Upon arriving in Bangkok, all our rep was interested in was how we would be making the payment. Again, a major red flag missed as no mention was ever on patient wellbeing or service excellence. Our first physical contact with DB was in the consultation room at Samitavej Thonburi Hospital. This was overwhelming as the waiting room was packed with pre and post operative patients, with some patients having to sit outside at the coffee room tables, representative of a sausage machine!

Once out of the consultation, the point-of-sale machine came out very quickly and lo and behold the staff member tried to do a 3% service fee. This was abruptly cancelled and referred to the manager who had approved the 1.5% service fee, as previously received via email.

Once the payment had been received, my wife was told she would be going to theatre the next day at 18:00. While waiting for the theatre time to come round, our rep came to the room to tell us my wife needed to have a THB14 000.00 blood coagulation test done, with a Haematologist consultation of THB8000.00. This upset my wife who ended up crying and wanting to leave and not have the procedure done. This was also a result of hearing she had been moved to number 4 in the surgery queue with concerns of attention and focus to surgery after 3 prior patients.

The result of the surgery has not been what my wife hoped for. She was cut from under the right arm (6th rib), across the chest to under the left arm (6th rib), whereas it was stated that a "T" incision would be used.

Currently the right implant sits distally from the sternum and moves around the previous pocket freely. We have asked DB what was done to make the pockets smaller to facilitate the implants (250cc), but have been told to wait 3 months, then 6 months to get the desired result.

The results of the surgery and the trauma experienced has resulted in a very low self-image for my wife, something she wanted to improve through this surgery; however she now deals with physical and emotional scarring!

We discussed our concerns with DB, but there was no mention made of resizing the pre-exsiting pockets. We left Bangkok disappointed at the poor level of post-surgical care and lack of answers on our concerns.

We still await a detailed post-surgical report detailing exactly what was done, as the "Fit to Fly" and the initial report (Discharge Report) were vague on what exactly had been done in surgery. This after raising a Helpdesk "card" and informing our representative about this.

We met many patients during our medical holiday who voiced their concerns and dissatisfaction with their respective surgeries, and who felt they would need further corrective surgery in their respective countries to fix procedures performed on them by DB.

To date (29/6/25) we have not received any of the requested reports as noted on the signed consent form through the DB Helpdesk. They continue to provide vague inaccurate information on a revised discharge summary.

The DB Managing Director has threatened legal action under Section 326 and 328 of the Thai Legal Code if this review is not removed by 06 July 2025. The intent of this review is not defamatory, but merely to highlight challenges we had first hand with DB.

Surgery with Dr Angkana

From the moment I first inquired about surgery, my representative, Ing, was incredibly responsive answering every email promptly and addressing all of my questions with patience and clarity. Her professionalism and support put me at ease right from the beginning.
Upon arriving in Thailand, I was impressed by how seamlessly everything was organised. I was given a clear schedule outlining exactly what would happen and when, which really helped me feel prepared and confident throughout the process.
Every step of the journey, from airport pickups to hospital visits was handled with professionalism and care. The drivers, nursing staff, and everyone I encountered were not only highly professional but also genuinely warm and friendly.

Exceptional, Amazing Service all Round

Amazing service from the initial query. The agent who contacted me was extremely supportive and her communication was excellent. She reply to queries on weekends & after hours.
The customer service team is very helpful. I felt safe and comfortable with the team.
I'm very satisfied with the results of my surgery & never felt any pain as the regular medication supplied was sufficient to keep me comfortable.
Other surprise services provided by Destination Beauty were morning teas with patients staying at the hotel, free transfer rides to local shopping mall and unlimited support throughout the journey.

My whole experience with Destination beauty has been incredible.
All the unknown of first booking with your rep to actually flying overseas to have surgery in Bangkok!
I travelled over with my beautiful friend and she had surgery done aswell.
From the moment we arrived met our driver at the airport and started our journey, meeting so many inspirational, motivating Strong women who also chose to have there surgeries with Destination beauty or women who were returning to have more surgery.
We knew we had made the right decision to go through Destination Beauty and have our surgeries done in Bangkok.

Arriving at the hotel Somerset we were welcomed and the doorman are absolutely AMAZING they go above and beyond for you.

I honestly did not expect my journey to be like this at all.
I thought I would have been in so much pain and not be able to do anything BUT I was completely wrong!! It was the total opposite!

The hospital Samitivej was like a hotel!! Not like our Australian Hospitals. The room was huge !
The hospital even has a star bucks !!
The staff are incredible so caring for you. Just incredible!

Recovery for me went very smoothly and 6 nights in hospital I then returned back to the hotel.

I then got to explore Bangkok!!! Which I honestly didn't think it would have been like this.

At first I was really impressed

At first I was really impressed. It is a well oiled machine and the hotel and hospital were really great. I had a double mastectomy 9 years ago with a few failed attempts at reconstruction and had been flat as a pancake for 7 years. I chose 250cc motiva egonomic implants. Dr Ring did a great job and they look awesome. But he also did an extended armlift that has been extremely problematic. I developed a massive haematoma that required emergency surgery in Hong Kong on my way home to NZ. It was NZD$10k and insurance wouldn't pay and Destination Beauty washed their hands of me. I am still having intense pain in my arms and this morning my right arm swelled up like a balloon and I have a deep vein thrombosis in my arm and need more emergency surgery tomorrow. I am 51, in good health, never smoked, fit and have no health complications. The haematoma and DVT are both a direct result of the surgery. DB has absolved themselves of all responsibility. There is no follow up and once you've paid your money, that's all they care about. Within hours of contacting them about my haematoma, they blocked me on Facebook so I couldn't write a bad comment. I have since found out they delete bad reviews wherever they can so no one finds out how many bad surgeries, infections, complications etc that there really are.

Edit: As per the 114 emails and 6 phone calls mentioned below, they were all before the surgery. I received one email after the surgery saying the haematoma was my fault for lifting heavy bags which is entirely untrue as I paid for my sister to travel with me to do all the lifting. All I carried was my handbag with my wallet, phone and passport.
There were no violent photos shared. If you get suspended from FB then you get a notification from FB saying you've been suspended which I didn't get. I shared a picture of the haematoma.

I have checked our system and can see that 114 emails have been exchanged with you as well as 6 phone calls. We have been constantly and in regular contact with you. Around 60 emails and 4 phone calls were Exchanged with you after you paid your deposit and hence your description is different from the facts. You appear to have gotten yourself suspended from Facebook by attempting to share violent pictures.

We are sorry to hear of your complications and feel free to use our helpdesk anytime or send us an email, we already responded you 114 times and are happy to continue.

DVT may also arise from long plane trips.

my time over there was good but i think a little more information or communication would be good i was told that what i had done would be done in two separate operations and then on discharge i havent been told any information like i have to sleep on my back for the next six weeks or how long i need to rest before returning to work or before i can exercise .

Well worth it

Destination beauty stayed with me throughout the whole journey. Everything was as was stated on their website and the hotel was great (those buffet breakfasts...yum). Many many other Destination Beauty clients staying at same hotel and we would get to know each other and it was an extremely supportive atmosphere. The hospital was only 2 years old and very modern and clean. Dr NJ was a joy and did an awesome job on my midface and arm lifts. The results have been remarkable...very pleased.
Just wanted to add that I am almost 69 years of age...so never too late.

True feedback of my experience..

The price is reasonable but getting expensive. The DB staff were friendly but Ira difficult with only 1 nurse -Nurse Aom, only able to assist with certain procedures, made waiting times long. Nurse Aom does the best she can but must be exhausted. My incisions are healing fantastically and Dr Ring is very good with his straight incisions ans placement.
The hospital nurses (who are not associated with DB but private hospital nurses) were quite dismissive and rude unless bribed with chocolate and cake. I spent 3 days staring at a ceiling with lights on, morphine withheld when I needed it until I told DB and they spoke with the nurses. Nurses need to learn better English as there is too much miscommunication. They also need to be taught proper patient moving techniques and sterile fields. Lucky if people don't get infections.
The lack of communication and long wait times for appointments are tiring. 8 people on a bus at 1pm and must wait to Return after everyone is finished. Can take up to 5 hours.
Concerns weren't addressed properly by DB staff after surgery. I have issues with my breathing implants and pain that wasn't rectified after 2 further surgeries, i was told was normanal but im not confident and cannot afford to return for further surgery to rectifiy due to surgeon error. I have dogs ears on my hips and a tennis ball size picket of dry blood at one incision site, I saw people with horrific open wounds that smell of infection that were ignored for days, causing them so much pain and extended healing.
I'm worried that most people only see positive feedback as negative feedback is blocked on the Facebook page, giving false hope that they will be very well cared for. People need to know that the nursing care isn't a high quality as it is in Australia. People are fine to go, and I am not saying I wouldn't return, but the care and professionalism is very different to Australia.

Wonderful experience both medically and as a visitor to Thailand.

The team are lovely to deal with and always willing to assist in any concerns you may have. Nurse Aom is a beautiful person who prides herself in making people happy. Donut is such a pleasure, she is always smiling. The doctors that I met are really good, but make sure you reiterate what you want so there is no confusion. I don't think I encountered one person who was difficult to deal with. The staff at the hotel are wonderful, Kasin and Jute, the doorman) always remember your name and are just gorgeous. The only thing was the language barrier with the nurses at the hospital. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Disappointed.

I was encouraged to have too many large surgeries in a row with only one day in-between which my 60 year old body could not handle. On return to Australia, despite emails to DB seeking help, there has been little support and I have now had to seek a local plastic surgeon.

Everything is explained so well and made easy . Very professional staff . I have followed DB on Facebook for years and finally made a date for gastric sleeve , only regret is not doing it 20 years ago.
Have lost almost 30kgs and just booked for tummy tuck and breast lift and implants. Much cheaper and get to look around Bangkok also.

My experience with Destination Beauty was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, everything was made easy and stress-free. Booking the surgery and making the payment was straightforward, and there was always someone available to speak with here in Australia, which made me feel supported and reassured.

Communication was excellent throughout the entire journey. Upon arrival, I was met at the airport, and a shuttle bus took us directly to the hotel. The hotel staff were incredibly kind and caring, making us feel comfortable from the start.

Transport to the hospital was seamless, and check-in was smooth and efficient. The medical team took a thorough health history and conducted X-rays and blood work before surgery, which gave me peace of mind.

My hospital room was spacious and modern, with a very comfortable guest bed. Everything was explained clearly, and my surgeon visited prior to the procedure to discuss any concerns.

The day of surgery felt exciting. We showered and changed into clean pajamas provided for us. After the procedure, I was brought back to my room and monitored closely by attentive nursing staff, who were always available if I needed anything.

Four days post-surgery, we returned to the hotel to continue recovery. Since I couldn’t eat much, the thoughtful kitchen staff prepared doggy bags for me to enjoy later. Their friendliness and attention to detail—even remembering our floor and assisting with taxis—was heartwarming.

Our hotel room was large, featuring a king bed, ensuite, and kitchen facilities. It was cleaned daily and located in an upmarket area with plenty of Western restaurants, cafes, and even a jazz club nearby. It was incredibly convenient and made our stay even more enjoyable.

The Thai food was incredible, and the overall experience felt truly five-star. I would highly recommend Destination Beauty to anyone considering surgery overseas.
