Dr. Naeem Khan - a perfect gentleman, a perfect dentist
Dr. Naeem Khan at Din Tannklinikk is the best dentist I've ever had in Norway, since I came to this country in 1985, which is 39 years ago.
Dr. Naeem Khan is the person once you know him, you will never forget. First and foremost, he is a perfect gentleman as well as a perfect dentist.
He is kind, honest, and sympathetic. I have always been impressed by his kindness, honesty and personal integrity, as well as his outstanding skills and expertise as a highly respected dentist.
Why honesty and integrity is important for a dentist? Today, we live in a wired and ever-more egocentric society, thanks to our politicians, so many people are lost to the decadence of money and ego. Many people close to me have become casualties of their dentists.
My ex-wife, is one of them. Her dentist told her that she needs an expensive and complicated operation to take out 6 of her teeth, while new crown and bridge are implanted. Outch! But my ex-wife remembered that her dentist mentioned before that there was only one bad tooth needs to be taken out. Now it's 6! With expensive crown and bridge, too! It was two weeks before Christmas.
I reminded my ex-wife that some dentists love expensive operations which are totally unnecessary and unethical. Especially before Christmas. Someone calls it "Christmas Robbery".
My ex-wife wouldn't listen. So she paid her Ransom and until now, one year after the tragic incident, still suffering from the unnecessary operation. She can no longer eat food which is a little bit hard, such as nuts, which were her favorite. Only my ex-wife knew how many sleepless nights she spent in her agony and regrets. And other nights she woke up in the middle of nightmare in tears, wishing she still had those 6 teeth......
Another lady I know, she was advised to take out all her front teeth, as her dentist deemed necessary. Her teeth were the the best thing she's got! Yet her dentist strongly advised her to get rid of her teeth (what?) as she was between jobs, he argued that the cost will be covered by NAV. It's the same logic as if an undertaker pushes people to cut short their own lives just to get a bargain on funeral price before the deadline for a special offer.
Today, angry and frustrated, she has been feeling the pain of being betrayed by her dentist. She has developed depression after she lost her beautiful teeth, which was an envy of many people (such as the wife of her dentist?).
In my mind's eye, the wife of the dentist was drinking champagne to celebrate her dentist husband got rid of all the beautiful teeth of a potential enemy. "One at a time." I could almost hear her puffing off the words between teeth, those cigarette smoke stained brown teeth.
I myself wasn't very lucky either, about 30 years ago, a clinic advertised that they only charge 500 kr to take out your teeth. I had a tooth hurting so I went there, a tiny clinic hidden in the street corner at Tøyen. Two of my teeth were taken out that day and I paid 1,000. "Come back tomorrow, and I will take out some more." Is that a random thing?! I didn't dare to go back the following day. I knew I would run out of money before I run out teeth.
That's why I say Honesty, Integrity and Decency are the most important thing for any dentist, also for every individual like you and me.
Talking about dentistry abuse, use the common wisdom: Whenever in doubt, get a second opinion!
Go and ask Dr. Naeem Khan at Din Tannklinikk! You will get the best advice money can buy. No, you will get the best advice and most ethical treatments which money simply can't buy.
