I went to renew my drivers photo…
I went to renew my drivers photo licence as part of the ten year update programme on the official DVLA site using their log in
It was all going to plan, nothing suspicious until I had paid for my renewal which indicated that a fee of £75 had been taken from my bank account.
Subsequent enquiries with the DVLA - who having checked their systems - advised me that fraud had taken place, then my bank, ditto.
The DVLA are aware of the problem and suggested that Drivingadmin are accessing their system when customers use the 'back button' during the transction, say to ammend details.
However, the DVLA cannot find out how Drivingadmin are doing this.
Drivingadmin then send one an email with links to the DVLA.
The email looks legitimate, but following the links given, there's a brief burst of the real DVLA site which is then replaced by a pale blue page header that is definitely not UKGov sanctioned.
I would respectfully suggest to anyone thinking of renewing their licence under the ten year photo renewal scheme to approach with extreme caution or better still. Visit a local post office and take up the option of renewal there.
It appears that Drivingadmin are a fully realised fraud operation, do not trust them, but how you escape them might be another matter seeing as DVLA don't know where the catch is!
I was fortunate and froze my card once I realised that I'd been scammed, plus, my bank fully refunded me the lost money.
