They have my copyrighted content on…

They have my copyrighted content on their site from 2023 when I let the domain lapse. How they can get away with this is weird. It is content copyrighted by me. It misrepresents my work and seems shady and potentially dangerous as well. My content is updated on a new domain, so anyone looking me or my content up in a search engine could potentially end up at the wrong site.

No respect for privacy

Prior to setting up an account with dropcatch, they require a government ID. HUGE red flag. Do not do business with this company. Keep your sensitive data private and not in the hands of these digital entities who will stop at nothing to sell your data to data brokers.

Seems extremely dodgy

No way they need the amount of personal info requested. When trying to shut down the account, the 'contact us' link doesn't work. Seems extremely dodgy.

I backorder a name

I backorder a name. Till the backorder ended there were no bids.
I thought I will get the name, suddenly after the backorder ended it started showing 30+ bids.
Lol this system is good at catching names, but it's not ethical system as they fraud you with fake bids which suddenly appear of no where.

Great service

Delighted with DropCatch

Signed up. Backordered a domain, which they promptly secured and I now have in my possession.

Delighted with the service, and will no doubt use again.

Baffled by the negative reviews, most seem aggrieved at being asked to supply ID prior to making bids in an auction. I didn't need to provide ID for a backorder, but would have had no problems doing so for an auction - sellers need some assurance that people bidding are genuine.

This company should be shut down as…

This company should be shut down as they steal companies' domains and then auction them off for brokers to make money from the creation and ideas of someone else. I'm not sure how this company or the other company, namebright.com, is legally doing this, but someone needs to put a stop to this scam.

Identity theft scammers

Don't touch with a barge pole.

No domain auction company should need:

- your photo ID (e.g. driving licence and passport)
- a photo of your face with the photo ID next to it
- proof of address with a utility bill
- your credit card details

... before you can even bid.

Common sense, folks! The list above is everything they need to pretend to be you and make payments / take out credit in your name.

Doesn't matter how much you like the domain they're selling. This stinks of identity theft.

And this bit from their Ts & Cs on data privacy is hugely concerning, given the identity-theft-level of data they're collecting:

"DropCatch.com may share your personal information with affiliated companies within its corporate family and other third-parties that integrate with DropCatch services, and to provide products and services"

In other words, you're authorising them sending or selling your identity documents to anyone they want to share them with.

No domain is worth this risk.

Photo of your face holding your passport!

Immediately upon the registration, they ask you to make a photo of your face holding your passport along with it. This is an insane personal risk to take. There are numerous other services that don't require such a thing. So this risk is not even justified. If something happens to your personal data you can rest assured that they don't care as you see how they respond to reviews on this site. They don't care.

Verry bad , i can't get my money when i was sold in your auctions

I have years of experience in the field and I wanted to try selling a domain in Drop Catch auctions, so it was sold and there is no way to get my money except that I have to contact support. Note that their support responds with one message per week, unlike similar sites that respond in less than an hour. In short, this is the worst company I deal with. With her, and I hope that all Dominians in the world will not deal with her

fraudulent

They ask for ID, photo, and credit card information just after login, requesting personal information at each step. This is fraudulent. There's no way to delete the information. Be careful.

Spammy price bots for an obscure domain…

Spammy price bots for an obscure domain name that was pending delete after years of inactivity. I made the mistake of searching it on their website as the pending delete was taking a long time to drop off. Then their bots sniped the domain even though I had it pre paid on back order with godaddy. I played the auction game with them and then realized that there was something off about the users (bots) driving the price up after each 5min rest period to extend the auction. It’s true that users can set their prefs to auto bid but there is something spammy and dishonest about the way they run their auctions. Fk it they can keep it. It was a nice to have domain name not a must have.

DropCatch is a malicious data broker site. Beware!

The company's thirst for personal info is unquenchable. First you have to give your typical personal information, then follows the credit card details(which you can't delete btw), then follows your ID or DL, as well as a photo of you holding the same, then follows proof of address, after which you receive an email citing your ineligibility for the auction since only persons that have spent $1000 on their site are eligible. I mean, how could you have spent that amount before while you're just now signing up? This is a data broker agency in the guise of domain business.

DANGEROUS - ASKS FOR GOVT. PHOTO ID, DRIVER'S LICENSE

I cannot comment on the site itself, for at the end of creating my account Drop Catch asked me to upload a government photo ID.
Err, isn't this exactly what we are advised NOT to do by government departments?!?
If someone has your government ID they can steal your identity and ruin your life, opening accounts and running up debt in your name.
No way I am handing over such sensitive information to some random website. I believe it may even be illegal for them to demand this in order to open an account. Very shady way of operating.
