A 1 star rating is far too high. Just like everyone else, I received cheap, shoddy, uncomfortable and ill-fitting merchandise. It is virtually impossible to return it because they extort you with ridiculous shipping fees. Don’t fall for their cute little family business story or believe anything you see or read on their website.

If there were a way to provide a zero I would. This company is not in Boston, so IF your return is approved, expect $50 in shipping fees back to China. What appeared to be a sweater was what I can only refer to as a screen printed picture of a sweater on a cheap sweatshirt. The shipping took forever. I’m embarrassed that I didn’t check for reviews before ordering. HORRIBLE company!!!

I wish I had read the reviews first. I bought 4 items, over $175 worth and wanted to return 3 of them as the quality is very inferior and fit is off. You get automated emails back refusing to allow a return, claiming return shipping is international and would cost $50, and even when I said I would pay that crazy amount, they offered 30% off my next purchase instead, then 20% back for a return. It's a complete scam.

DO NOT ORDER from this company. It is a SCAM. They are NOT located in Boston, they have no physical address there. Like the other reviews said, they try to offer you a 10% or 20% refund on your offer rather than returning your money. Save yourself the headache and buy somewhere else. I'll be reporting them and disputing the charge.

This is a scam company from China! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!! They portray themselves as an upscale clothing family run company from Boston. What they send you is super inferior, extremely low quality, plastic textiles made in China. They know they are scamming people with their garbage and ask you to mail back the package ( at your cost) and to claim a low dollar amount….only then will they refund your money. This is after stringing you along for weeks with a percent discount refund…starting at 10%, ending at 40%. Total SCAM!!!!

The sweatshirt I got was supposed to be a cotton blend and it is the easiest polyester I’ve ever seen. I will be filing a fraud complaint with my credit card company. This is clearly not a Boston family business and their resolutions are totally unacceptable.

Embarrassed to say I ordered from this company and received what appeared to be a halfway tailored piece of felt.

Their “return policy” requires you to pay $50 to mail it back to China. They claim to be a “small family company” and their website would have you believe they are based in Boston.

Check out their Facebook posts, and note how many angry emojis are on their posts. Their comments on the posts appear hidden, and they’ve disabled commenting on Instagram.

I ended up filing a fraud charge with my credit card company.

I thought this was a scam company because I tried calling them to find out about my order but couldn't find a phone number. I received my order after about 3 weeks but the quality of the clothes is poor quality. I would do a return but I figured it would take them weeks to process a refund.

Horrible experience! Do NOT buy from this website!!!! I thought I was getting this awesome suede jacket for super cheap. First it takes almost 3 weeks to get the item, then I get it and there is NO WAY it is suede jacket is cheaply made and UGLY!!! I also should have looked into the company it says on their site based out of Boston yah no!
I have now emailed them 5 times trying to come to a resolution. First I get offered to get a new jacket um no I surely don’t want another one. Then I got offered to take 30% off another item. Also um, if I didn’t like the first jacket I highly doubt I like any other products. Then I got offered to give me 10% refund so like $7 back, then I got offered 20% refund telling me the shipping back would be like $50 dollars

This company is terrible, the quality is terrible, the sizing is off and they are full of it!

This is a scam. There is no family owned business in Boston. This is a fake storefront for a cheap clothing warehouse in China.

If i could give it less that 1 star I would. NOT a family run business in Boston. False advertising. Cheap quality and poorly made. Impossible to return. DO NOT BUY

I’m genuinely happy with my order from Ellis & Porter. The clothes are beautiful, well made, and exactly as shown online. I even received some extra discount on my order, which was a really nice surprise. So glad I came across this deal and decided to go for it.

My wife found out the hard way that this is a scam site. She ordered a number of items and none were as advertised. When she tries to make a return and get a refund (as advertised), she got email double-talk. The email said they would offer a 20%refund and that would be the end of it. That's when I found out and began researching. The web site is a fraud. There is no real contact information, address or phone number. I would suggest everyone who got taken should file a dispute with their credit card company.
In searching for answers, it appears this 25 year old company first appeared in January of 2026.

Complete scam. Product received looked nothing like on the website. Cheap feel and look that I wouldn’t wear anywhere. Then a run around to return it. Like other posters I accepted 30% refund given I’d have to ship product back to China. Do not order from them!

Disappointed in the quality and return experience I had with this company. Jacket was cheap and not lined. Felt like it was a Shein product. When I went to return the jacket they said it would cost more for them to process return and asked me to keep it for 20% refund. I told them I would accept 30%, however, this is not the experience I was expecting to have and it is not a flattering jacket.

Ellis and Porter is clearly not a small family owned business in Boston- they are from China. But that aside- what I thought I was ordering- was not anywhere near what was received. I ordered a dress that clearly had an organza (or similar) overlay- and what was received was NOTHING close to what was pictured. And since it was from China- there’s no hope to return this sham product. Don’t buy into their lies- stay away. I order from China frequently- but when I have ordered knowingly from China- their products delivered have been spot on….. I was duped and this is sub-par.

The merchandise is cheap and frankly not even Walmart quality. I ordered two tops. Both of them looked like textured fabric in the photos. One was reported to be a combination material shirt. But both were cheaply printed, slimy fabric. One had buttonholes that were sized way too small for the buttons and the garment ran very small as well. I feel completely duped and out $100.

Oh my GOSH!! Do not order from Ellis and porter. Total scam. Clothing looks nothing like the photographs. Cheap and very ugly. Fake fake fake!
