A total scam and ripoff.... They charge a monthly $8 fee to use their service.
They offer a bogus savings account but you'll get no interest on the account and when you decide to cancel your subscription they will continue to take money out of your regular bank checking account to transfer in their bogus savings account and you'll never see that money again even when your cancel your subscription..I cancelled my empower subscription and they still have $15 of my money in their scam no interest savings account that they are suppose to debit back into my checking account from my bank, I have yet to see that money....
Heave my warning, stay far away from this illegal scam of a company..... You'll be sorry...... I had to go to my bank and tell them not to allow empower to steal anymore money out of my bank account....

They are the worst. They deduct out my account a day before my pay check hits then they make me wait a whole week before I can reapply. I am done with them and wouldn’t recommend them at all.

Stay away from empower for months I had to play games with empower I received 1 advance in Oct 2024 they were supposed to take the advance payment in November 2024 they only took subscription fee locked my account claimed my payment is late etc well empower wants auto payments setup so that empower can control when they get money back.and they mark account ĺate in Nov not 1 time did empower attempt to take the advance payment as empower claims they tryed but funds were not insufficient they knew that the money was there they purposely waited until of all days Christmas eve day they took the payment everytime I tryed to repay the system didn't let me but after reviews I left on Google regarding empower and their claims in emails to me that they didn't have my correct email address yes re-read that lol that's what they claimed as they emailed me to my email address. They are have been blocked but they still owe me 5 months of subscription fees . They claim I canceled subscription in March 2025 they why are you taking money still and I canceled subscription in January 2025 . SO PLEASE BEFORE USING EMPOWER TRY TO GET HELP FROM A COMPANY THAT HAS A PHONE NUMBER WHERE YOU CAN TALK TO A PERSON AND CHECK THE BBB. REVIEWS AND TRUST POILTS REVIEWS GOOGLE AS WELL YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE A DECISION WHEN YOU ARE READING REAL REVIEWS TRUSTPOILT POSTS AND GOOGLE POSTS BOTH BAD AND GOOD REVIEWS IF MORE BAD REVIEWS RUN FAST AND FAR FROM CERTAIN SERVICES. .

Claims that all credit is welcome yet somehow my student loans (that I am unable to pay due to Mohela site issues saying my account doesn't exist) prevented me from getting anything. SCAM ALL THE WAY AROUND!

The system had a glitch and wouldn't give me the advance at the time it was supposed to. Was going to be almost a month later and I wouldn't need one at that time because I will be getting paid. And they want to charge me 8 dollars for a service I can't use when their app malfunctions and they said they can't manually change the payment date. Very disappointed

There was an account opened in someone else's name with my banking info and my phone number. I found the error pointed it out and they charged me $8. How they can charge my bank account without my name or having a subscription with them idk pretty sure that's theft. I have emailed and called every day for two weeks. They hang up on me. I would not give them any private info if you are smart. They are crooks. Still unresolved.

Checking back in another week. Now they are not responding. Still not resolved. Thieves.

Easy to use, fair terms - a welcome option to get cash in a pinch without being abused by fees and interest. Terms are clear and I’ve had no issues with unexpected charges, membership fees, etc that some of the other similar apps have.

High fees poor funds I wouldn't put my money with empower if it wasn't for my employer and as soon as I retire my money will be going to charles schwab will what left of it losing it left and right.

They charge me 8 fee monthly then approve me for a 10.00 loan like wow so basically give me 2.00 after paying sub fee , ridiculous I unsubscribed and won’t be going back waste of time and my money also dont like how they track everything in my account

I have been on the phone/email ALL MORNING LONG because my previous debit card was compromised and my bank cancelled. Empower is now acting incompetent, like they can't even swap out my old card with my NEW ONE! All I'm attempting to do is pay off my balance but they are ill-efficient in handling this request all BY ITSELF!! SO HOW DO I MOVE FORWARD before this impacts my credit NEgatively and its your fault for having blocks in your system that don't allow for new debit cards to be added!

*UPDATE* 4hrs of my time wasted, I finally get a quality representative who verified nothing would be done and it wasn't attached to my debit card - even though it clearly asked me to update my card information. They could do nothing for my attempt to pay off early and all I can do is wait.

Please CHECK OUT MONEY LION's services!! You'll be better served and pleased. :)

It’s good app and have been using for a year or so. But recently, don’t know what change they have made, but is complicated and won’t track paydays like it was over last year. Also today I couldn’t get it to load at all so deleted and redownloaded and all of sudden I can’t find old account or create new one. Put 3 stars from use in the past but really a one star app at the moment

This has to be the worst cash advance company I have ever dealt with. I do not recommend. After successfully paying each advance on time and never being late they took my cash advance eligibility from $150.00 to $25.00… stating the system automatically does it.

There are better company’s that reward for on time payments vs. takes away the benefit.

They are a joke and have fun reaching customer service. They're not helpful either. I could access my cash advance, so it said, until it was time to verify. I called and spoke to a representative 5 times and still could not get them to update my information correctly. It would not update my email or phone number for verification purposes. I probably spoke with 5 different representatives and they all gave me the same speech on how I can change it. Nothing can be changed on my end. Save yourself the hassle and don't even sign up. You'll end up paying for a subscription you can't even access while they take money from your personal bank account. No thank you, pass.

I have been doing business with Empower’s for a year until a week ago me and my wife have been married for 34 years and we have finally this year we have saved and worked on buying our first house and we had found the house put a bid on and they excepted the bid and all we where was loan place finish the loan process but something from empower had came up that slowed the financing company down said that empower had reported a outstanding dept on me and so got a credit report and empower had been reporting my little payday loan to my credit and when they would payed off every time check was deposited they pulled the money first thing and would be on credit report as a outstanding debt owed and would take 2week for showed payed and come find out they never removed payed loan in feb 2024 and its payed like every loan detect deposits and they linked to my bank account and they pull the money out first thing and I never owed them no more then a couple of days but I didn’t know they was reporting this to the credit report and so there actions has just put a stop on the financi on the house and our lease is over on the house we where living in and know we are homeless until empower clears this mess up and the financial company all wanted is to talk empower to make that there no outstanding balance which I showed my bank statement that I never owed no balance like the credit report is showing but empower refused to talk to finance company instead told me to get touch credit reporting people I’m so confused and I’m don’t know why this is even happening it’s so so sad that this is even happening I hope this helps from somebody else going thru this because life is too short for this non sense thank you

Stay away from this shady company. Only the desperate deal w/ them, it seems & they take advantage of that. They filed a credit report, bringing my 700 plus cred score down by 25 plus points. Every customer service email reply is a pat standard reply that ignores most of your questions. I'm so sorry I dealt w/ them, but I was in a tight squeeze. I hope I won't have to change my bank's routing and checking acct number should they deduct in the future which from their acts, seems possible. It's very difficult to cancel / close the acct after paying & they seem to confuse credit report agencies even AFTER paying off the loan 20 days ago! What a horrible company. As far as the The reviews that are favorable, this company seems to selectively scam.

I have been unable to access my account for over 3 months. During that time, I've sent multiple emails to support instructing them to stop deducting $ from each paycheck but noticed they continue to deduct funds while I remain locked out of my account. I have informed them numerous times that I am locked out of my account with a message to email support for help. Support has not responded to any of my prior 7 emails asking for help accessing my account.

I am now forced to file a complaint with every federal and state regulatory body that might be responsible for regulating institutions like theirs who engage in criminal activity and restrict withdrawals while overcharging for services never approved by customers.

I am also preparing a formal complaint for the California Attorney Generals office, asking them to open an investigation into the company's activities in California.

Avoid this company, they are not interested in ethical behavior.

I been with Empower since 2024. My first loan was $100 paid back $110. Now I can receive $400 loans per month. My membership is $8 per month. I recommend Empower for loans.

Advanced for $125, repaid, and now I'm only eligible for $25

I've been a customer of Empower.me for the cash advance for a little while now. I've never had any issues up until now. November 09, 2024 I got approved for a Thrive loan of $400. I went through the process and when it brought me to the page to sign my paperwork, it stated that Empower encountered an error and to try to sign the paperwork again at a later time or reach out to their email support. So, I signed out of my account and back in. On my home screen, it stated Congrats! And that I had been approved for $0. I tried to locate the paperwork, and couldn't find anything. So, I reached out to their email for support on November 09, 2024. I have been trying to contact Empower through their email support and the number listed for them, but keep getting short email replies stating that they're looking into this and they'll get back in touch with me. Well, fast forward to November 19, 2024 and they're still sending me the same generic reply. I can't even CANCEL my account because when I try, it tells me that I can't because I have an outstanding balance (which I'm assuming is the initial $400 I was approved for) and need to make a payment. So, when I click on the payment button (even though my balance is $0), it tells me I can't make a payment because there's no balance. WTF?! I can't cancel because I have a balance to pay, but I can't make a payment because I have no balance! And no one from Empower can give me ANY answers. They told me they see where I was approved, but they can't help me with closing the account or sending me the funds. So, they have my banking information and everything but I have NOTHING from them....except a huge headache. If I see any negative effects on my credit or ANYWHERE, I'll be filing a lawsuit! STAY AWAY FROM EMPOWER!!!!! I should never have signed up for them in the first place. The ONLY thing that will change my mind or make me change/delete my review (which I'll be posting in other places, as well as contacting my local authorities) is if magically, the money appears in my account or I'm able to cancel the Thrive account.
