What happens when your supplier goes out of business?
I have solar panels but the guy who supplied them is no longer in business. I wanted to add more to my installation but could not get anyone to give me a quote because they won't touch an existing installation that they did not fit. Be careful out there.

At EnergyEfficiency.ie, we work specifically to prevent situations like this. All of our recommended installers are fully accredited, established, and vetted for after-sales support, and we only refer homeowners to companies that will work on both new installations and existing systems.

A lot of the information is good to know and even if you do know whatever a certain article may be about, it's still good to have it fresh in the memory. But with any site, do your own checks too about goods or services

Offering included Basic attic installation and Interior wall Insulated Slabs …

We’re glad to hear the engineer was knowledgeable and helpful, but we also understand your frustration around the limited upgrade options. Providing a more complete, end-to-end service suite is a top priority for us heading into 2026.
That said, energy-upgrade projects can be complex, especially for timber-frame homes, and many providers still operate in siloed services (insulation only, heating only, solar only, etc.). This can unfortunately limit the range of upgrades available during a single assessment.
We’re actively working to bring more providers under one coordinated process so that homeowners can access heating upgrades, renewable energy options, and broader retrofit measures through a single, streamlined service.

Limited ‘favoured’ suppliers? Not the broad search you might expect.
Looking for home EV charger in Dublin and was given one company and got a quote from them €1300. I came back a few weeks later looking for a 2nd quote (you always get three, right?!) and was given the same company.
This site is not independent like bonkers.ie or other comparison sites. Use google / Chat GPT instead… got a quote for €1000 so it pays to shop around and not just trust this site.

We are actively expanding our coverage areas nationwide, and our goal is to provide homeowners with multiple vetted installers in every region. However, this is not always possible at certain times. Our partner criteria are deliberately stringent: installers must meet strict requirements around accreditation, warranty standards, after-sales support, safety compliance, and long-term reliability. In some areas, only a limited number of suppliers currently satisfy those standards.
While this may occasionally result in fewer options, the intention is to ensure that any company we recommend is one we can stand over — both in terms of quality and customer protection.
Your point on comparison is well taken. Consumers should absolutely shop around, and we fully support that approach. Our focus is on quality assurance rather than volume, and we are working hard in 2026 to onboard additional compliant providers across Dublin and the rest of the country.
