Engie customer service - good individual employees, corporately missing the point
I took possession of a commercial building and tried to switch away from Engie to another supplier on the day of purchase. The process took 3 weeks and was complicated by the vendor putting the wrong purchaser company name which led to duplicate overlapping accounts and it took 3 weeks to complete the changeover (accumulating exorbitant off-contract standing charges in an empty building with the lights switched off).
The first account said it covered the 3 weeks in question, which I paid swiftly.
Then a duplicate account was generated two months later in the second business name, with incomplete information on it (eg no statement re usage), covering weeks 2&3, which I suggested they write off as the first account covered the period in question. Their approach to writing this off was astonishing its rigidity and served as a warning for anyone who thinks their customer service department is well named. It was clear that their protocols were to setup to be as unhelpful as possible -several times I was fed the line "the account is closed now so can't be queried or changed". I had never heard such nonsense in dealing with a supplier so resolved to resist. I had to wait 2 months before I could raise the matter fully with the ombudsman. During this time I received around 10 calls from debt collectors and Engie, and was sent a court summons from a solicitor threatening loss of supply and loss of credit rating. As Engie already weren't my supplier and I don't need credit I was able to not feel threatened by this but I have sympathy for those for who feel threatened by this. As soon as the two months were up and the Ombudsman was involved Engie backed off straight away, although still failed to concede the central point that the first invoice covered the period in question.
The moral of the story: be cautious with Engie; The Ombudsman is your friend.
Don’t touch with a barge pole
Awful company to deal with. Totally unprofessional. Don’t even consider unless you want t be ripped off

Stay away
Stay away! Got signed up through a broker Green Energy advice bereau ltd, who put me on a passthrough contract which is for large manufacturing companies not caravan parks. Raised a complaint but engie obviously conferred with GEAB and said it was my fault for not asking questions. Wrong legal entity on contract yet they are uninterested in this. Going by the ratings on here they are truly out for themselves and not the customer! Next step will be to go to the newspapers about this.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! If I could give a minus 1 I would (!!)
WARNING: AVOID AVOID AVOID!! Like the plague.
If I could give a minus 1 I would. THE most extortionate energy supplier on 19p (!!!) for gas. Can't cancel commercial contracts and we are stuck on ridiculous rates through a broker.
THE BIGGEST MISTAKE was signing up to Engie and can't wait to get rid of them end of contract.
Customer service is patronising, doesn't give you the answers you need. Cancel bills and then hikes it up.
Our latest bill for a 5 bed house - Gas only was £622!!! WHAT THE ACTUAL.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience.
constant pressure calling and scare mongering to which of course was a load of rubbish.
Got us involved in the Engie blend and extend energy contract which as you can see on the Internet was a total scam.
Now stuck in a totally uncompetitive contract which has cost us thousands and possibly the business.
Absolute Scammers
Absolute Scammers. As a business we were signed up to a standing charge of £7.00 a day ( as opposed to 40pence per day with British Gas) Horrendous, We queried the contract when we realised and are now getting bills from them, even though we stayed with British Gas. looking at previous reviews, This may take some time to resolve.
Scammers
Scammers, they took the wrong meter read and charged extra from us and still no response regarding the refund. Please avoid this company.

Avoid Avoid Avoid Worst Customer Service.!!!
Where do we begin with Engie…!
Last November, we took on the lease of a unit next to our existing one. The previous tenant had their meter disconnected by Engie due to non-payment, and bailiffs had gained entry. We spoke to the bailiff at the time, explained we were taking over the unit, and he called Engie while we were there. Engie insisted the meter still had to be disconnected.
We contacted Engie countless times to get the meter reinstated. The first actual communication we received from them wasn’t until 17/11/24 — two days after the fuses had already been disconnected. The fuses weren’t reinstated until 13/5/24.
Despite this, Engie are trying to charge us six months of standing charges for a unit with no electricity. When we first spoke to them, they told us it could take up to 90 days to reconnect, which we accepted. But after those 90 days passed — and after endless emails — we finally managed to speak to someone who had absolutely no record of any of it. The whole process had to start again.
We’ve made it very clear from the start: we are willing to pay three months of standing charges because of their mistake. Yet yesterday, we received contact from a solicitor acting on behalf of Engie, trying to collect money we do not owe.
We will now be taking legal action against them.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Engie are not that good to work for…
Engie are not that good to work for either, they took over a facilities contract for my building, then when a better company took over from them, they did a midnight flit, leaving me with some unanswered questions regarding pay and unused holiday payment, I phoned the Yank who had recently taken over as our manager, but I got no answer from it, hardly surprised, typical, Steer clear of them.
Beware! Misleading and Overpriced Energy Contract
I’m extremely disappointed with Engie. I was sold a “Blend & Extend” contract through Northern Gas and Power, with the promise that my rate would adjust according to market prices. When my contract started in May 2025, the blended rate they offered was only £28 per month, which is nowhere near fair given that the original rate was 43p/kWh and the current market price is 25p/kWh.
This meant I’m paying far too much compared to the market, even though the contract was sold as a “blend” that should protect me from overpaying. Engie’s customer service has been unhelpful, and there is no way to get a fair adjustment.
I would strongly warn anyone considering Engie’s contracts to read carefully and question every claim — this experience has been misleading, costly, and extremely frustrating.
This company forced me into…
This company forced me into liquidation.. 2 years of hell trying to sort my rates out after being sold blend and extend though northern gas and power brokers.. 69 per unit for electricity.. absolutely no where to go for help for businesses.., try and leave a review for northern gas and power they take it down from trust pilot.. I was pleading for better rates because I got quite emotional they said they could get me numbers for mental health help.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
worst energy company going.
This company has put me out of business due to the high charges and the outrageous charges they have charged me, trebled whilst with them. think twice about going with this company, i will be seeking complaint procedure with them and also ofgem advice.
my bills went from £4000 a year to £12,000 all my profits gone.
Without doubt the worst utility company…
Without doubt the worst utility company I have ever dealt with. Still being charged for a supply that was removed over a year ago and refusing to accept that their subcontractor removed it. Thieves.
After two years
After two years, Engie suddenly sent me a bill for £12,000, claiming they had been undercharging me. As a “gesture of goodwill,” they knocked off just £250 – what an absolute joke.
Their smart meter installation was another disaster. The first meter they fitted didn’t work – apparently it was the wrong one. Rearranged multiple appointments, but they either failed to show up or never called. This dragged on for nearly two years.
When we eventually left the site, I told them repeatedly (over the phone at least five times) that we had moved out, even filling out their forms. Yet they still asked why we weren’t available – completely clueless.
Engie are overpriced, unreliable, and show zero accountability. My advice: AVOID this company at all costs.
Awful company
Awful company! Taking money out of my account without permission. Signed me up for a contract and cancelled it on the same day. Refused 4 times to allow my account to be handled by another energy supplier without giving a reason. After being promised by customer services my complaint was on hold they still processed a payment. Charged an absolute fortune £5 per day for gas. Stay away.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
SHOULD BE -100 STARS
Meters not working
They refunded 12 months of bills paid and then reissued bills between 50-80% higher.
Now they say we owe them £8K.
SCAMMERS
Worst energy company in UK. Scammers
Do not use this company. They do not help you at all. Absolute scammers.
