Responses are always quick and detailed. eSuperfund is very supportive and never makes you feel stupid even when you (I) make a mistake. The website and annual returns continue to evolve and are easy to follow.

I have been with ESUPERFUND since 2011. Their online forms for tax returns and compliance are easy to follow and complete. My questions were always responded to promptly with a clear explanation. Compared to other SMSF administrators, their fee is quite competitive; the Transfer Balance Account Report (TBAR) is free of charge. And more importantly, with ESUPERFUND I feel free to make the types of investments I want.

Excellent service and cost is very reasonable. They handle all the admin work, make sure you are in line with all the regulations and make it hard to go wrong. I have been with eSuper for about 7 years now and never had any issues. They keep you well informed, answer your emails usually within a couple of hours, don't think I have ever waited more than 2 hours to get a response.

We have been clients of ESUPERFUND for over 18 years to assist with tax returns and audits pertaining to our SMSF. ESUPERFUND also provides many other services that assist trustees running their SMSF.

The ESUPERFUND service model is intended to be low cost. Thus, it does not allow communication by telephone and communication is strictly by secure mail. At first this may appear to be a disadvantage. However, in relation to the communication experiences we have with some of the banks that we use to hold our SMSF funds, and the frustrating delays that can occur, albeit by telephone or by email, the secure-mail only communications with ESUPERFUND has been a significant advantage in that they always respond promptly, precisely and intelligently

The low cost “no advice” service model does not allow for tailored advice. ESUPERFUND have, however, built a comprehensive webpage, laid out pretty well, with a considerable amount of information that is updated regularly. There is a generous quantity of generic advice on the webpage and various “free” services that can assist clients, together with the provision of “pre-populated” forms.

Also, client data input and secure mails are actioned via this client portal. Two factor authorisation (2FA) is used for security purposes when signing on. There are several methods available which is useful when one method fails (eg when the Optus outage made 2FA unworkable).

Clients have to enter quite some data for the end of year compliance and audit. This means that comprehensive data must be collected over the financial year for the annual audit. ESUPERFUND have gone to some trouble to allow relatively easy input of term deposit (TD) certificates, bank statements and the corresponding worksheets and other required data. (We invest mostly in liquid assets such as TDs.) The worksheet input is the only aspect of the data input we occasionally find irksome as the requirement for the data is very pedantic. However, the system generates an “errors list” which helps considerably. ESUPERFUND regularly evolves their systems and it is very possible that data input will progressively get even easier.

ESUPERFUND provides many services very efficiently and competently “free of charge”.

Over the years we have found ESUPERFUND to be up-to-date with all the changes to SMSF and hence a very dependable professional base for the DIY SMSF client to “lean on”.

Clients should have the requisite skills to collect and organise data relating to their SMSF. Spreadsheet competency would be, in our judgement, essential. If one enjoys managing data, making one’s own investment decisions the process can be interesting and rewarding which is then assisted for the end-of-financial year audit and compliance processes, by a solid and dependable organisation.

ESUPERFUND provide assistance for quite a number of management services without charge, or the charges are reasonable. For example, whilst, we have been happy to manage our SMSF for many years with the good end-of-year support we have received, as we age, that due to a decline in mental abilities or other factors it is probable that we will have to wind up our SMSF. ESUPEFUND charges a $699 wind-up fee to facilitate formal closure of the fund.

ESUPERFUND is a highly recommended for SMSF trustees who have a reasonable degree of competence in running their own SMSF.
