Stay away from these scammers!
You are better off on foot, really.
I regularly get my rentals from Europcar here in Germany and I'm generally satisfied with the cars and customer service. But Europcar Bulgaria is entirely different deal.
Crappy, old cars full of dents and scratches. The employees will try to scam you out of your deposit especially when personal handing over of the vehicle is not possible. This is what happened to me.
A bunch of fraudsters typical for this corrupt country. Stay away from them!

I have rented from Europcar all over Europe . But when I rented from Sofia Airport , I should have known something was not right , when the man behind reception said " You are probably better off taking photos of the car " .
This I duly did - when I picked up and when I dropped off .
When I returned to the UK , I got my invoice for the prepaid rental .
Surprise , surprise - an additional charge of £ 289 for " damages " .
Following multiple email exchanges with Europcar Bulgaria and Europcar UK - NOTHING . All correspondence ceased once I sent them the photos I had taken of the car . Europcar UK said they would investigate and get back to me within 28 days . Its now been six weeks . Not a peep .
I now have to sit and waist more time on them .
If this is not theft , I don't know what is .
I will never use the again

I rented a car from Europcar Bulgaria January 2018.VERY disappointed.Awful customer service.We paid for SUV because it was heavy snow weather,but we got a small Renault Capture.The guy there was arrogant and unfriendly...Do not use ever!!!

EUROPCAR is a company WITHOUT ANY MORALS! We unfortunately did not check out all the warnings on the internet. They will SCAM YOU and end up costing you a lot of money. This is how the company survive. As consumers we cannot let companies like this survive! Please help in spreading the word about this awful company to your friends/families so that they do not get SCAMMED our of their money too.

We've rented a car via Rentalcars from 15-07 till 29-07-2014. We've returned the car full and in the same condition on 29-07 at 05.30 u, so we've put the key's and papers in the keybox (as agreed). But when I returned my creditcard was charged (whithout any question or note) with 155,21 EUR.
After some mails I finally got a (selfmade) facture of repairing the 4 wheelrims (4!) of the rented car. After several mails with Mr Bozhkov to try to arrange this mistake I'm sending you this mail and complain.
1. we honestly didn't do anything wrong with the car, and we've returned it in the same condition as we left
2. it's unbelievable and impossible that we could damage the 4 wheelrims at the same time. There must have been already damage to the car when we left.
3. It is also impossible to detect the damage by delivery without (letting) remove the wheelcovers. There is even a damage at the inside of the wheelrim (see photo), so we should have removed the tires to detect it.
4. I've visited a Kia garage and the manager and I agreed that it is impossible to make such a damage to the wheelrims without breaking the wheelcovers, and they were not in the claim.
5. Repairing a wheelrim in Belgium cost me 10,00 EUR ... ;-)
6. Rentalcars don’t want to take any steps further to arrange this misuse and realize a refund
7. A complain to Europcar Bulgarie is answered by ... Mr Bozhkov himself ;-)
This claim stinks and is not correct. I've tried several times to arrange this misuse, but they always give the same answers.
Shame on you Europcar!
