Last night myself and 5 other friends had paid to go and see Eurovision at the Everyman in Liverpool. And it turned out to be one of the worst events in the history of events. We had paid to watch the Eurovision Song Contest, which notoriously overruns year in year out. On this occasion, it overran and when it got to 12pm , the staff muted the tv and turned all the lights on. When we asked to turn the sound on at least so we could see the winner being announced (at the end of a 4 hour show may I add) , we were met with arrogance , misery and disinterest with a shrug. We usually have a party at home and on this ONE occasion we decided to spend money travelling to Liverpool to spend it out rather than in. Well a decision I will never make again based on this. Imagine if you had paid to see the FA cup final or to a lot of people, the World Cup final, and then turn off the tv during penalties. For someone to shrug and go “meh, no license sorry” , this is a huge event to the gay community and to be met with this lack of interest that wouldn’t be shown if this was a sporting event, gives me homophobic vibes from the Everyman and its management. I am disgusted and will make it known to anyone I meet, as well as go out of my way to complain publicly about the Everyman.
To say I am angry, is an understatement. And I won’t be surprise if my complaint is at the end of a long list of others asking for a refund.
