Avoid this retailer
I placed an order for a laptop, an MSI Raider A18HX. 5 hours later they sent me an email saying my payment was declined. I immediately contacted my credit card company and they told me the merchant voided the transaction, it was not declined. Further reading the original declined email, it does say "voided" in the body of the email - once. The subject of the message included my order number and "DECLINE:SECURE PAY ONLY."
When I contacted Excaliber, I was told they want a wire transfer, payment through Paypal, Amazon Pay or Affirm. I was using a specific card due to the warranty and after-sales protections it has.
What I was eventually told by " Steve the store manager for ExcaliberPC" was they don't want to take credit card payments directly, because and I quote from his email, "Recently the number of fraud has gone up a lot and with these stolen cards even if the cards get authorized there will be a dispute later and the credit card company will take back the money. The wost part is if we get too many chargeback then they can suspend our account so unless we can verify the customer and make sure they are the card holder we are looking to lose out on even more than the money."
Okay, then don't accept the payment method and the order. I did NOT choose to return to ExcaliberPC to purchase the laptop, as I found the exact same laptop for $350USD cheaper at B&H Photo, who MSI lists as an authorized retailer.
The only reason they are getting 2 stars is Steven was very kind and understanding, and even sent me an MSI swag box for my trouble, which I appreciated. Steven has an uphill battle to fight if this is how they do business though. I will not be buying anything from ExcaliberPC in the future.
