A surprising contact which led to research on Ancestry and a bequest.
I was contacted out of the blue about a distant relative. She was my father's cousin who I sadly had never met as her side of the family (there were 11 children between her father and my grandfather) were not as communicative as the my grandfathers close siblings. The resolution of the estate took 2 years but I now realise I have lots of 2nd cousins I didn’t know. Finders were professional in their contact and explained clearly how the process worked when someone dies intestate. I am glad to have discovered more family links and that the estate has been shared between 23 people. To whom I am related and some I didn’t know.

If I could leave zero stars
If I could leave zero stars, I would.
I’m a professional lawyer. For five months, I have been trying to get the ball rolling with a service which Finders International offers, on behalf of a client. For five months, many reasonable and patient emails on my behalf, a deleted poor Trust Pilot review (which I removed as - for a fleeting moment - it seemed like they were actually going to respond to my emails and help) I have now had enough. This company is supposed to be a leading company in the probate related services world. I have never encountered such a poor response to emails; they are either too busy, or their employees don’t want to take on the work. If you don’t want to provide a service, either don’t advertise it, or say you’re too busy; don’t just very occasionally string people along.
I now need to go elsewhere.
I’ll be using the likes of EstateSearch in the future.

Having reviewed this matter, we can see that there has unfortunately been confusion regarding documentation relating to your Medallion Guarantee Stamp request. While we had believed we were awaiting further information in order to progress the matter, we have since identified that an email you sent on 1 June 2026 with attachments cannot currently be located within our systems, despite being sent to the correct address.
We fully appreciate how frustrating this must be, particularly given the length of time involved and the efforts you have made to follow up. We sincerely apologise for the delays and the inconvenience caused.
We have now contacted you directly to request the documents again and to ensure the matter receives urgent attention upon receipt. Our aim is to resolve this as quickly as possible and provide the level of service you should have received from the outset.

They are eager to sell your property but slow to pay you anything
I signed an agreement with Finders 17.2.2022. They sold our apartment in Spain 10.2.2023 with the solicitor recommended and picked by Finders. However, we never received anything of the sales price paid by the buyer.
After several request I finally received a copy of the sales contract 11.7.2025, after more than two years the buyer had paid the sales price. But so far after more than three years we have received nothing of the sales proceeds.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend anyone Finders' services, You may lose your entire heritage.

We are very sorry to read about your experience and fully understand your frustration regarding the delay in receiving the proceeds from the property sale in Spain.
Finders International acts as an intermediary in locating heirs and assisting with estate matters. In this case, the sale and subsequent handling of funds were carried out by an independent third-party firm in Spain, who were introduced during the process and subsequently instructed directly by the beneficiaries.
As soon as concerns came to light regarding this firm, we took immediate steps to cease working with them and to protect the interests of our clients and beneficiaries.
We are aware of issues relating to the distribution of funds by this third party and have been actively investigating the circumstances. We are currently seeking legal advice and pursuing appropriate action in relation to this matter.
While we are limited in what we can say publicly at this stage, our understanding based on the information available is that these issues arose outside of Finders International’s control. This situation is not reflective of the standard of service we strive to provide.
We remain committed to supporting all affected parties and working towards a resolution.

2 1/2 years later
3 years and 4 months later, still no resolution
Never update the family
Continually having to chase them.
Been advised different outcomes on several occasions which were untrue
One time I was told the Estate was insolvent and then later told it wasn't.
Told twice the case was complete but still isn't.
On one of those occasions, I was told the file had been sent to a local firm of solicitors for funds distribution to the beneficiaries. Months have passed since then and after another request by me for an update, we've been told they're still tracing / verifying people!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear how frustrating this has been and understand your concerns around communication. This case involves a particularly large and complex family network, with ongoing verification work supported by third parties, which has extended the overall timeframe.
We would also like to clarify that this matter has been ongoing since late 2023 rather than the timeframe mentioned. During the process, we have shared information as it has been provided to us by the appointed solicitors, including an early indication that the estate may have been insolvent, which was later revised as further details became available. We appreciate that this may have caused some confusion.
While the main research phase has been completed, further verification is still required to ensure everything is fully in place before distribution can proceed. An update has now been provided by your Case Manager, and we remain committed to progressing matters as quickly as possible.

I received an email out of the blue…
I received an email out of the blue from Finders informing me of a distant relative’s passing. My Finders contact was Emily Cook, who requested any other family contacts still alive. I provided Emily with our remaining family members, who she then contacted personally. Emily informed me that the process could be quite drawn out. As the news of the family passing came as a complete surprise, we really forgot about it. However some time later, after Finders had to change the solicitors who were originally dealing with the case, we all received notification regarding the estate. We then experienced an internal family and new solicitors issue, that further delayed the completion of the process. So at time on behalf of the family I contacted Emily again who once again provided professional help and guidance to finally resolve the problem. Personally and as a family group we were very impressed with Finders in general and specifically Emily.

The finders staff were very helpful

Four years have now and still waiting
Four years have now passed since I was visited by FI representative informing me that I was one of multiple beneficiaries to a late great Aunts estate.
I am still waiting for a positive conclusion to this business. No information or contact has been made to me providing any status updates. The only information I get is what I request and the info has always been quite vague.
Strangely, when I email the case manager, most occasions it get an automated reply stating that the person is on holiday! Very odd and I now feel I'm being evaded and becoming somewhat suspicious of this company and their activity.

Inheritance
After being told from finders for results ,six months to a year for finalising our inheritance , over two years now and still waiting. Was told there would be regular updates , but we kept doing all the chasing but to no avail. Wish we had gone with another company who would keep us informed. Jill Williamson.
