Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware
Absolutely hands down the worst experience and NEVER should be an option to select.
more than 6 months after the initial contact was made we finally are rid of contractors.
Freedom Kitchens market Freedom Kitchensrself as so much more and detract from the brand reputation of Freedom.
There is so much talk about "CUSTOM" during the enquiry process and design only to later discover that all diagrams and measurements asked to sign off on are simply "illustration purposes only" and the thieves who run the business hide behind the claim we are a supply-only joinery company.
The service has been atrocious from the designers, the failed & wrong deliveries and the so-called "Customer service" has been non-existent.
And all of this for the privilege of investing more than $40K on what could have been bought from IKEA or Bunnings and installed for much less - after all NOTHING provided was custom and is all what suits the supply only joinery company that markets itself as "Freedom Kitchens". Perhaps these criminals consider freedom as being a dictatorship whereby unassuming customers do not have any choice and must pay in full 100% before the pre-fabricated panels are dispatched from the warehouse.
Also, numerous emails to Freedom Kitchens management & Freedom itself have gone both unacknowledged and unanswered which is a further disappointment that a customers concerns and anguish have gone unnoticed further confirming that the criminal-like behaviour of this business.
I can assure Freedom Kitchens that the service and product I received for $40K is nothing like the service and product that is marketed by this organization nor how they are perceived on supposedly quality programs such as The Block.
To confirm my beliefs on the nefarious actions of this business, every single trade recommended and used by this organization, from the delivery through to the installer, plumber, electrician and glass splash back ALL unanimously volunteered that EVERY SINGLE job they do with Freedom Kitchens has dozens of issues leaving customers frustrated.
Sadly and again regrettably having chosen Freedom Kitchens, less than 3 weeks after install, I already have faulty components showing up despite their assertion that only "Premier Grade" equipment is used. The draws are poorly constructed with the sides and backing falling apart having never even been screwed in and awaiting a response from them to claim the 7 year warranty. Seems that they have all my money are will only speak to me if I want to replace the brand new "designer kitchen" that they have just supplied me.
they take no responsibility for any of…
they take no responsibility for any of the trades - you're at the mercy of who shows up. most of the trades I worked with hated working with freedom.
you don't communicate with any humans - get used to logging things in a portal and waiting 24-48 hours for a response. call them, the person on your job isn't available - ask for a call back - you won't get one, instead you'll get....another message to reply to!
good luck if anything goes wrong or needs adjusting because freedom is like dealing with a computer.
our designer made an error in our plans that meant we had to close up a door in our kitchen to fit everything else in. noone from freedom owned up to it and i got very lucky one sales person attempted to help.
suggest you find a local cabinet maker instead. this is my second kitchen with freedom - we had issues the first time around as well - same things.
Anything BUT Freedom.
I ordered a small walk in robe with an in home consultant eight months ago. I received an install date two months later which seemed good. I have now been dealing with incapable supply and install contractors for a period of six months and my wardrobe is still not complete!
I’ve had six months of deliveries of large boxes sitting in my home (many of which were just ordered because the installer couldn’t be bothered working out which new panels they retired so ordered the whole lot again).
Multiple install & rectifying dates so far have meant I’ve had contractors in my home five times longer than originally quoted. Some even here till after dark which was uncomfortable.
Freedom wardrobes are not a one stop shop. They are simply selling a third party product. They “design” and order the panels and deliver to your home. Then pay private contractors to do the hard part. When I mentioned how annoying this job has been to one of the many delivery drivers dropping off large boxes time and time again, I received the response “I think m that’s pretty normal with Freedom”.
Over the period of my contract, I’ve paid every payment on time (up front before install date) but Freedom have not kept their part of the bargain. Cutting panels the wrong size multiple times, wasting the contractors time so they then get irritated and also disregarding the inconvenience they’ve caused to me as the customer. And my job is still not complete.
Do yourself a favour and find a design/install supplier who does the whole job and cares about the customer. Freedom don’t. This $17,000 small wardrobe has been ANYTHING BUT FREEDOM!
Very disappointed
Very, very disappointed with our experience with Freedom Kitchens. This was the third kitchen we had bought from them, the first two were great experiences from start to finish. But fast forward five years to our third kitchen and the experience was completely different.
Great designer, we had the appliance specifications ready to give to her at the visit, she liaised with us and accommodated our requests in a timely manner, all sorted within 2 weeks. Then the whole experience went downhill from there! Communication at all levels was dreadful! Dealing with Customer Service was a nightmare, they were abrupt, don’t call you back, blame obnoxious emails on ‘computer’ generated mail, unreasonable time scale for payments - sent an email in the morning and when I hadn’t paid by 5 pm threatened to cancel the order!!!
We experienced an understandable delay over the Christmas period but did not expect the whole operation to close down for a month!
Eventually got the kitchen delivered, waited months for fitting and they had sent the wrong doors and no upper cupboard hinges. Took another month for the replacements to arrive, then more delays waiting for the installer to ‘fit us in’
In conclusion I would recommend that you stay well away from Freedom Kitchens, the quality of the product whilst ok does not make up for the dreadful communication, customer service and overall experience!
Freedom kitchens - My biggest mistake
Would strongly recommend that people avoid Freedom kitchens. Still waiting on my kitchen to be completed after spending 25k which is currently unusable. When it comes to project management the place is a disgrace. Freedom will make you sign individual contracts with third party contractors (so they can take no responsibility). If anything goes wrong during the installation good luck with that one. My builder was fantastic but the stone mason has cut my stone incorrectly and destroyed the kitchen. When ringing freedom they take no responsibility and expect you to manage the fall out with their third party contractors. Personally I think this is a disgrace as the kitchen is sold under the freedom brand. Surely freedom should be able to manage the third party contractors that they supply
Surprised I even gave this company a 1 star review. If you love high levels of stress in your life and banging your head against a wall then Freedom kitchens are for you lol
Wouldn’t recommend
Wouldn’t recommend, complete nightmare. Have had an unfinished kitchen for 8 months and wardrobe pieces in boxes for months. Freedom constantly stuff up the order, change plans and don’t communicate, contractors that are sent too many jobs and nothing is finished.
Misleading sales process and unfair cancellation fee
I had a very disappointing experience with Freedom Kitchens. We live in the Wollongong area of which Tushar works in. He had a great salesman pitch but we didn't realise how unprofessional it would all be in the end.
We were encouraged to pay a deposit on the day to “secure the price,” which created pressure to commit quickly. The 5-day cooling-off period and cancellation terms were not explained at all.
We cancelled shortly after signing (within days), and importantly before any work had commenced — no check measure, no manufacturing, no installation. Despite this, the company retained $800 of our deposit without providing any itemised breakdown of costs.
When I queried this and requested justification, I did not receive a response. I was also advised the refund would be processed within 5–7 business days, which did not occur ($4000) Its been 11 business still the cancellation and still nothing...this is very dodgy coming from a 'big company'.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone...I wish i had read the reviews on trustpilot about them first.
Very poor experience with Freedom…
Very poor experience with Freedom Kitchens.
The kitchen was installed incorrectly and does not match the design. The dishwasher cavity is too small for the appliance they supplied, and other parts of the kitchen are out of alignment.
Rather than fixing the issue, Freedom repeatedly denied there was a problem, attempted to shift responsibility, and proposed workarounds like modifying the appliance or removing parts of the kitchen. They also failed to provide a proper written rectification plan despite multiple requests.
Inspection was inadequate — no measurements were even taken against the plans.
The whole process has involved delays, poor communication and a lack of accountability. The matter is now with the Building Commission.
If you want aggravation use Freedom Kitchens…
If you want aggravation you have come to the right place.
The product is good, the representative, installers and trades are excellent. But dealing with Freedom Kitchens is painful.
Now I understand why they prefix the phone call by " please treat our staff with respect" something bad must have happened to initiate that line.
You are talking mostly to people located overseas. "The customer is no longer King" It's so so aggravating.
Calling them to follow up or talk about your job is extremely time consuming. It sucks
Nightmare “Free” Consultation Visit at Home
We had a designer come to our home for a free consultation, which we finally agreed to as they had called us 4 separate times and emphasised it was free even after we told them it was a future project.
The appointment went well in the beginning and the designer understood what we were after. However after going through the costings we decided that we didn’t want to be locked into a contract at the current time as we had just moved in and there were other issues with the house that required urgency.
This set off the designer and she rambled on for a full hour, guilt tripping and pressuring us to agree to the contract that night and to put down a 3k deposit to lock in the current deal they had.
At first she offered solutions such as changing the design and materials to make it cheaper but when I said I didn’t want to compromise on the design and would rather just do it later when we were in the right place financially, she made snide remarks such as “if you want to live with that concrete slab bench, those cabinets, and your fridge on the other side of the room then that’s fine. Keep your 3k deposit and use it on a new wardrobe or something.” These were the elements we pointed out we wanted fixed and for her to throw it back in our faces was completely inappropriate, unprofessional and rude.
She then went on about how she came out late at night as a complementary service because we wanted a new kitchen and that she could’ve went elsewhere for business if we weren’t serious. Mind you, they were the ones that kept calling us knowing it wasn’t in the immediate plans for us. She mentioned that we could pay $500 every 6months to postpone the installation and keep the special but after we shut that down she then kept saying how they take care of their customers. For example throwing in a free appliance as a thank you, changing designs at no extra cost, and all these other stories to try to convince us. It was so exhausting having to keep repeating our decision, only for her to make us feel uncomfortable over and over in our own home.
Completion Issue Left Unresolved by Freedom Kitchens
We engaged Freedom Kitchens for the supply of a new kitchen in Victoria. Although the contract was described as “supply only”, the installer was organised and scheduled through Freedom Kitchens (Kitchen Group) documentation as part of the overall kitchen process.
During installation, the integrated dishwasher door could not be fitted because the necessary components had not been delivered in time. As a result, the kitchen remained incomplete. The installer later sought an additional call-out fee to return and complete the installation.
We contacted Freedom Kitchens on multiple occasions seeking assistance and asking that they arrange completion or take responsibility for the supply delay that caused the additional cost. Rather than resolving the issue, we were referred back to the installer. In the final correspondence, the Completions Officer stated in writing: “I will not be responding further to emails sent to this address.”
With no practical assistance provided, we paid the installer under protest in order to avoid further escalation and then arranged for our own builder to complete the remaining work.
The cabinetry itself is of reasonable quality. However, the post-sale support and approach to resolving a straightforward completion issue were disappointing and unnecessarily stressful. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage future customers to clarify in writing who is responsible for installation completion and how supply delays will be handled before proceeding.
Wardrobe doors
check measured for wardrobe before Christmas. Flat pack delivered last week. Installers come this week to install; so far so good. Installers find that no doors provided. Advise Freedom who tell me it will be 12- 14 business days ( say it in real terms up to 3 weeks) before doors will be available. Ridiculous service
Update from Freedom is worse: The estimated timeframe for the above replacement items is approximately 14-21 business days. We are working diligently to ensure these items are dispatched as quickly as possible.
Unable to use wardrobes in the interim. Just great
The worse experice ever
The worse experice ever! Don't Recomend.
All messed up, Unreliable time frame and Miss communication between Designer, Pruduction, Factory and Installer, All a real mess :(
No - Freedom Kitchens
First thing to know is that Freedom Furniture stores and Freedom Kitchens are not the same company, it is however a great way to deflect any customer issues.
Next, Freedom Kitchens (FK), understand fine print, convoluted contracts, multiple 3rd party sub contract, and ZERO accountability. The deal may sound good but be prepared that they will get everything wrong once you have signed the initial contract and paid the deposit.
To give you and idea we placed our orders in mid Sep 25 for a custom bar. We still don't have it completed and are hoping it will be in Feb (5 MONTHS). At the same time we gave 3 other room refurbishments to competitors, and ALL of them were completed with only one room and one minor snag by 3rd week of November 5.
BEWARE: the minute you have made the final payment to Freedom Kitchens for the cabinetry delivery YOU will not hear form them again or get any responses back. But wait there's more...
Here are a few things that went wrong, keep going wrong and are still wrong.
Crazy old school two factor authentication portal making it impossible to collaborate with your partner as they can't sign in.
Not a single deadline or milestone met on time, no updates or accountability, wrong design (multiple times), wrong manufacture either in colour or measurement, constant deniability (although very polite) no commitment on escalation, and good luck trying to find information about their business, management, leadership.
Lastly, at the prices that they charge use local tradies. If you want the same job at 46% to 57% of Freedom prices go to IKEA Kitchens. Now they understand logistics, customer service, and ethical conduct.
Designer evasive about the plans
Designer evasive about the plans. The resulting kitchen was not as discussed. Avoid at all cost.
Bench tops are not very good quality
Bench tops are not very good quality. Only lasted a few years and they don’t cover under warranty even though it is within the warranty period.
Absolutely hopeless
Absolutely hopeless. I've called so many times. On hold for hours combined. The only person who called me suggested I call the 1800 number I've been calling to get help. What a pathetic organisation.
Warranty issues
I recently brought this property and there are issues with some kitchen cabinet doors and drawers not closing properly. The previous owner got that installed from Freedom Kitchens which is still under warranty and handed me in the paperwork with the guarantee certificate. When I tried to get in touch with Freedom Kitchens today, it took five attempts to get through their maintenance department. Not a good contact experience. Then on the top my request to help resolving these issues under warranty was declined saying that the warranty is not transferable and then saying there is only 1-year warranty on the accessories. I looked up on their website and it is no where mentioned these conditions. What all they claim about is there accessories being high quality, rigorously tested and provides 7-year warranty on cabinetry. But it didn't help me today at all and my experience dealing with them today for service issues was poor and unsatisfactory! I have never seen 'the warranty/guarantee' not being transferable and is not sensible at all!! You own that property that comes with that kitchen and you have paid the price for it. I want to warn all the customers who are selling the property or people who are buying the property with Freedom Kitchens installed, the warranty is not going to be useful for you!
