FMCA was a great experience for me
FMCA was a great experience for me. Great coaching and self-pace videos
Great coaching and self-pace videos. I would have liked to learn more about nutrition and functions about the body in our weekly meetings. Every weekly class was the same...coaching, coaching and more coaching. Was not happy to learn my tuition was not tax deductible.

Our program intentionally places a strong emphasis on developing coaching skills in our weekly meetings (Live Coaching Labs, formerly Live Training Sessions) to both meet NBHWC requirements and to make sure the FMCA graduates are uniquely prepared to be fantastic coaches supporting clients no matter their goals or challenges.
We also offer live Functional Medicine training and discussion through our Ask the Expert series and Ask the Functional Medicine Faculty series, and hope you were able to take advantage of those during your time in the program.
We appreciate hearing your perspective about wanting more discussion of nutrition and physiology during the live sessions, and feedback like yours helps us continue refining the learning experience.
While the IRS determines tax deduction status for training programs, we do encourage all students and graduates to consult tax professionals when eligibility questions arise either as a student or a practicing health coach.

Canvas was difficult to navigate and find things. There was so much content, maybe even too much to review in the time we had and it was a bit overwhelming to most people in our cohort. I think trimming down the content in each module in Canvas would be more digestible. Also, giving more tutorials on how to navigate Canvas would help as well.

1.) We’ve heard similar input from other graduates about navigating Canvas, and it played an important role in a significant change we’ve made to our certification program. After a lengthy migration period over the last year, we’ve completely moved to a new learning platform, LearnWorlds. In addition to many great features (including an App), LearnWorlds is designed to provide a more intuitive and streamlined experience for students moving through the curriculum. Feedback from students like you was critical in helping us in our search for a new platform solution.
2.) Your feedback on the amount of content is also incredibly helpful. We have content review built into our curriculum development process. Transitioning to LearnWorlds has also provided another opportunity to archive old content and further streamline the learning experience. Of course, we also have many students who tell us they are hungry for even MORE functional medicine and coaching content, so we’ll continue to focus on finding a great balance!
We’re always looking for ways to make the learning journey clearer, more supportive, and easier to navigate while still delivering the depth of education the program is known for. Feedback like yours helps us continue refining that experience for future cohorts.

This program was more than I expected
This program was more than I expected. I learned so much and I really learned the value of a health coach. I also loved my LTS class so much, we really created a beautiful, positive, and safe space for each other to grow. The only thing that bothered me in CANVAS was 1) I wish when I paused in a video it would save my place, this made studying very difficult and very hard to find my place again. I also wish it had the feature to just back 15 seconds or 10 seconds or 30 seconds if I wanted to quickly relisten to something said so I could absorb it better. When I would move the dial myself, I went completely to far early and if this little feature was added it would have made my experience 100x better because I am a note taker and this delayed my what could have been smooth process.
2) the sound quality of some phone calls or videos were very poor. I think FMCA, with how successful they are need to invest in podcast like microphones for better quality. It just feels most professional that way. I am also less inclined to relisten to videos with poor sound quality. I think they could send out a speaker to the virtual speakers or since these are older reused videos, from here on out they should consider sending microphones to future speakers.

To address the other excellent comments in your review:
1.) Your feedback on Canvas navigation is something we’ve heard over the past 10 years of our program and we appreciate. In fact, your March Class was the last one using it. Going forward, all FMCA students are receiving instruction on a new learning platform, LearnWorlds. In addition to many great features, Learnworlds offers a much more user-friendly video experience and improved navigation features for students. It’s an important part of our growth as a school.
2.) As for audio quality, this is also great feedback. We’re constantly reviewing and either removing recordings, updating them, or improving audio quality when possible. Our move to Learn Worlds has accelerated this process and it's a review procedure we do after every class graduates

FMCA Power of Behavior Change
FMCA Modules were powerful in terms of lessons, treating topics profoundly which need to review them multiple times. The positive psychology and the character strengths are pillars of the transformation. They help clients and coaches as well to move to the destination successfully with patience, compassion and commitment. Behavior change is a journey. Tiny habit changes are the baby steps which reassure both of us towards clients' goals and dreams.

I would recommend FMCA to anyone wanting to become a health coach
FCMA is a professional organisation who equips you with the necessary skills and knowledge. They provide a lot of support for students and graduates. Most of the job opportunities through the school are US centric. With the increasing number of international students, I’d like to see more support for overseas graduates. Having said that, I would totally recommend the program to anyone who is interested in becoming a functional medicine health coach.

FMCA is very professional
FMCA is a very professional, thorough and welcoming organization. The support they give their students as well as their graduates is remarkable. I had an amazing experience with my course facilitator, my cohort and others who made my experience what it was. I'm still friends and talk with all of them. As I have gotten to know other coaches from other training programs, I realize what a treat it was to be in such an organized and enriching program. I did pass NBCHWC boards on the first try, but I think it was because I also used an additional, separate professional study group to join up with FMCA's wisdom. I would definitely choose FMCA again though.

A program that truly prepares you for real-world coaching
I’ve completed many professional education programs over the years, and the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy is by far the best I’ve ever experienced, on every level: content quality, real-world relevance, instructional design, community, and support.
FMCA is rigorous and challenging, but that’s exactly why it works. I felt pushed in the right direction, not overwhelmed, and every part of the curriculum deepened my confidence as a health coach. The program doesn’t just teach theory; it gives you practical skills you can use with real clients and in collaborative clinical settings.
What sets FMCA apart is the ongoing support and community. Faculty, facilitators, and peers create an environment where you’re genuinely supported, not just trained. The alumni resources and continued learning opportunities have been invaluable to my ongoing growth as a coach.

After 26 years of being a real estate…
After 26 years of being a real estate appraiser, I was a bit nervous to enter this coaching program as it was so different from anything else I had done before. I found my cohort and the entire FMCA team to be very supportive. It was challenging, but educational. I passed the board exam two months ago, and the Alumni program is very robust. There is so much to learn (and the education keeps coming!). I love the people I have met in this field. I found the experience to be very rewarding.

My personal experience was amazing, the academy is truly well-organizad with all the topics. I am very grateful for giving me time to review the course, I Wish I could have access for more time. It was very Focus on getting Coach-skills and abilities which is one of the main golas along with all the medicine part-information. This last part was for me the most valuable, specially how to use it with a client in a very professional compassinate and attentive way as a coach. Exceptional Program That Truly Prepares You to Coach
I had an excellent experience completing the FMCA Health Coaching Certification program. The course was well organized, practical, and immediately applicable to my coaching work.
