I liked making a Will in this way…
I liked making a Will in this way rather than through a costly solicitor unless things get complex. It is easy to create a quick Will and at the end you can always add more info.

I was faced with a difficult situation being executor of my wife's will and had engaged lawyers at extremely expensive rates for very little results. I contacted Gathered Here and was assisted by a wonderfully able, intelligent and compassionate lawyer (Rica) who resolved my issue within an hour. I could not be more grateful for the assistance I received, nor for the expense I have now been spared. Thank you.
I was shocked to find that after listing my beneficiaries, the platform automatically sent them an email telling them they had been named in my will. This led to some very uncomfortable conversations that I was not prepared for. It felt like a major breach of my privacy, and frankly, it should have been my choice to tell that person, not yours. This was a significant red flag for me.
I also have concerns about the way beneficiaries are identified. I don't believe a name and an email address alone are a legally robust form of identification. While the name is fine, an email address is not a legal document. I was concerned that this could cause legal complications down the line. I think a will should have more legal ways of naming beneficiaries, like stating the name and date of birth (DOB) and even relationship to that person (e.g., father, son, partner, etc.) to ensure there is no doubt about who they are.
While it was a good learning experience in creating my first legal will, I have some serious concerns with it, and I have found some other options to consider.
Exactly the same thoughts as Michael below. It won’t allow you to close or delete an account they kinda trick you into signing up for. Then they tell you to contact their support dept which you never hear from. Be very careful what info you give this site.
Not a good experience with my first online Will attempt.
Firstly, claims about being able to complete a Last Will and Testament in 10 minutes I think is a nonsense. For most humans, considering all the decisions you need to make in a Will, that would be nigh impossible. Making such claims leaves me wondering if they really understand the product.
Secondly, when you complete your Will you will need to agree that the people that you nominated; executors and beneficiaries, will be emailed to let them know they are in your Will! Really? Is this necessary? I guess for marketing, however, this could be distressful for some.
Next, be careful, that you elect not to notify the Charity that you have included in your Will. Past experience indicates if you miss ticking this box there is a good chance that your nominated Charity will try and collect early, long before your die, through phone calls and emails. Sure, I get the claim made that you will help the Charity plan by letting them know how much you are leaving them BUT really, if you are not leaving them a Rockafella style fortune, I'm sure they will manage AND trust me, you do not need the grief of ending up on someone's database for collections.
Next is the security. I think this leaves something to be desired. I logged out of the site, closed the browser tab, reopened a new browser tab, searched (in Chrome) for the site, clicked on the link to the site and bingo! Straight into my account! No user name or password required. Lucky that I was the one that was using the computer!
Finally, after completing my Will, I decided that I didn't feel safe letting Gathered Here hold my data so... I tried to delete my account. At least I couldn't do it. The only way to remove my data was to corrupt it. Sad.
So many positive reviews about this site? I tried to put in a reveiw throught Google which is normally simple to do but for some reason I couldn't find a link anywhere to write a reveiw. Very strange. All in all, a simple site, but as they say, you get what you pay for. I would't go here again but it gives me a benchmark to look at alternatives.
I called ‘gathered here’ and spoke to a beautiful lady called Rica. Our mother had passed and we were trying to finalise her will. Rica listened to our situation and then explained everything to us in detail and she did this free of charge. Rica could have told us that she had to do what needed to be done but she was honest, pleasant and so very helpful! When I need help in the future with legals I will definitely contact this honest and trustworthy business. Rica thank you so very much - Kathy OGrady
Can't express how pleased I was with the service. A top probate service at half the price. I was given a fixed-fee all inclusive price which was much better than the open ended $600/hour that I was quoted elsewhere.
Got 3 quotes from funeral directors really quickly. All funeral directors were extremely helpful and understanding. A huge help.
