GenDatabase is my nr 1 database for my South African genealogy research. They have millions of records for South African persons. They have very accurate transcriptions of what is on the original documents.
Their platform is easy to search even when you not sure of a firstname or even a surname. I have been using them for many years. They have helped me find and confirm many ancestors real names and BDM dates.
Their admin have been amazing when I had questions and resolved my queries very effectively.

I've been using Gendatabase for quite a few years now, and can unequivocally say that it's hands-down the BEST online resource for South African genealogy research. With it's integration with Familysearch and the archives search engines, and access to databases unavailable elsewhere, I really can't do without it. Worth every cent of the subscription!

Gendatabase is my GO-TO for adding or verifying a new node to my tree. I love how easy it is to look up records & I have a high sense of trust in the results. My only advice (as I have provided with many other US based ancestry services) ... you would have a lot more South African subscribers, if a monthly payment system was available (the exchange rate is very limiting from an affordability perspective)

GenDatabase is an excellent platform for South African genealogical research.
An added bonus are the links to Naairs and FamilySearch. Keep up the good work.

It took a little getting used to but it is hands down the best 'genealogy friend' I have used to date. What took us 3 years (using Ancestry, Heritage, Family Search etc. and Archive visits) to find, I got positive hits within the first day. It covers almost everything and we have found documents we didn't even know existed. The absolute best for South African research. Just wow.

I've been using GenDatabase since 2018. Amateur researchers in South Africa will know how hard it is to get information from archives, so I rely on them quite a bit. I've been able to verify and expand on my family tree and solve some mysteries too! I like that there are no recurring payments. The couple of queries I had in the past have been answered promptly.

The service is an excellent value. And the staff are very helpful. Someone named Yvonne answered my questions promptly and in detail, I appreciate that level of service!!

What can I say, I have been using Gendatabase for a while now, and they never fail to give me results that I thought were impossible to get.
The cost is so minimal, and the help from Yvonne and Megan is nothing short of exemplary; they have gone above and beyond to help me. Thank you so much.
