Finally taking the plunge to start Jiu Jitsu is one of the best things I’ve ever done. The membership options were flexible in terms of how often you attend and how much you pay, and the memberships also come with exclusive access to the Gracie University where you can find online resources and tutorials surrounding the lessons you have/will learn. Both instructors are super knowledgeable and helpful and there are different sessions tailored to expertise level, ranging from beginners to well-seasoned. The beginners course has been so valuable, without it I’d have really struggled to settle in as much as I have done and with so many people joining, you’re never the new guy for long! Would highly recommend to anyone, especially those with any worries about trying something new.

This is the best place I've ever been too. Not only for learning a new sport that helps with self defence but also a massive help for anxiety and depression as everyone is awesome. Unlike your typical gym setting there is no egos and people are there to learn not trying to prove anything 😉

Alex was really informative and helpful whilst booking my daughter's first class. He is always on hand should we have any questions.
The classes are great. The other children are really encouraging and my daughter's teacher has been wonderful with her, she leaves class full of enthusiasm and can't wait to return the following week.

This is a friendly and professional place to learn. As a woman I don't ever feel uncomfortable or unable to participate. Learning here has taught me skills and self defence I wish I'd know years ago. It is a very important part of my life now.

I joined Tameside Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Feb 2019 in order to relieve the stresses of work, learn something new, get fit and meet new people. It far exceeded my expectations of how welcoming the academy was and how well structured the program is. The instructors are exceptionally dedicated and always take time to thoroughly explain the techniques learned. There is no pressure, only a positive environment and it has really helped me to focus on something else other than work and the stresses of daily life and I can't wait to continue my journey with all my fellow members.

Before joining Gracie jiu-jitsu tameside, I'd never had any experience with martial arts so I was very nervous but came and had a go. Alex and James were so welcoming and the whole group had a friendly atmosphere so I knew it must be a great place to train.
I've found that I love jiu-jitsu and am always watching videos to remember the techniques I've learned.
Jiu-jitsu is so much fun, only being 5ft2 and learning how to protect myself is a great life skill as well as good for overall physical and mental fitness.
Every week I look forward to each session and leave smiling!

Great training environment with superb Jiu-Jitsu coaching!

Jiu jitsu for me is not just a test in physicality and technique but also a mental endurance test, it has helped in more ways than one.

I joined Gracie Tameside in September 2018 aged 51. I’ve always had an interest in self defence and fitness but had never trained any martial art before, in actual fact I knew almost nothing about martial arts or Jiu-Jitsu.

I came across Gracie Tameside on Facebook and looking at their website they seemed to offer what I was interested in. I decided to pluck up the courage and attend a class. Considering my age and having no previous experience I was a little hesitant at first but what immediately hit me when I arrived at the centre was how friendly and welcoming everyone was.

Classes are taught at a steady pace where techniques are broken down and demonstrated by the instructors. You are then given the opportunity to practice and troubleshoot each step with a partner.

The Gracie program is very structured and is very much self defence focussed. This is not the case in all Jiujitsu academies, many of which focus on sports Jiujitsu. As a member you also get access to online content where you can watch every technique/class demonstrated by the Gracie brothers. The combination of the classes and watching the online content helps you learn techniques in the most efficient way.

I’ve now been a member of the Tameside certified training centre for for more than a year and have successfully progressed to the advanced class. Jiu-Jitsu is challenging but with a combination of the Gracie system, qualified instructors and personal effort you will succeed. You’ll also meet a lot of great people in a friendly environment.
