Packing
While most of our clients start off thinking they’ll pack everything themselves, packing can be a much bigger job than most people realise.
It’s easy to underestimate how long you need to set aside to get ready for your move. For example, if you’ve got a three bedroom property, you’re likely to need around 40 packing boxes.
If it takes you on average 20 minutes to pack a box, you could spend at least 14 hours packing.
Self storage
If you want easy access to your belongings, take a look at our sister company Plymouth Self Storage.
You can choose the amount of storage space you need, and how long you want it for.
Once you’ve got your storage space, you’ll have access to it six days a week with no extra charges.

hackworthy was subcontracted by the…
hackworthy was subcontracted by the International movers i had hired to do the packing and loading to the shipping container. I had so much broken and damaged goods on arrival and i could tell that one expensive piece in particular had been dropped on its head or packed upside down as opposed to on its side. I had impact damage that told me my entire load had shifted enroute.
After they packed up and left, i noticed they had not packed an entire cupboard and i was told that it was my fault as i was expected to be their unpaid supervisor. I have also noticed since arriving at my internationsl destination that an entire box of my Corningware casserole dishes is missing but no point in saying anything as the two companies point the finger at each other and in the end would only blame me.
Use at your own peril.

We’re sorry to read about your experience, as this is certainly not the standard of service we aim to provide.
At present, we do not have enough information to confirm whether this relates to a job carried out by our team, as we regularly undertake work both directly and as subcontractors on behalf of international movers.
For context, when we are subcontracted, our role is typically limited to specific services such as packing and loading, under the instruction and management of the primary moving company. We do, however, always take care in handling items and we consistently carry out work for many clients without reports of damage or missing items.
We understand how frustrating it must be to receive goods in a damaged condition or to discover items missing on arrival, particularly after an international move involving multiple parties. Unfortunately, without further details, it’s difficult for us to determine where responsibility may lie in this instance.

The removal team were hard working and…
The removal team were hard working and very helpful..My things were moved into storage. When they arrived to my permanent address several items were damaged,it appeared that they had suffered water damage while in storage.
There was also a chip to a wooden table and a large chunk taken out of a bookcase. I claimed but was told that dud to the excess I could not get any compensation. Disappointing service while in storage,better care should havd been taken. I can't in all honestly recommend them.

All items were stored in line with our standard procedures, and when your claim was reviewed, it fell below the policy excess, which is why compensation was not payable. However, I note that some of the items listed in your review were not part of your initial claim.
We aim to be clear and transparent about our terms and the claims process, both before and after a move. While it’s always disappointing when things don’t go as planned, we do our best to handle concerns fairly and work towards the best possible outcome.

Wish I could give 6 stars
I only give it 5 stars as I cannot give it 6. This company were exceptional and so helpful from Kevin who guided us through the best way to achieve what we wanted from the move, some storage, some left and some immediately to our new house. As ften when moving house, the date moved on three occasions, but every time this was handled very efficiently by the office staff. As to the move itself, this being two days with one for packing and one for the move. The packing was excellent and worth every penny when you saw hw your artifacts were so carefull handled and packed away. Then the move itself again conducted professionally and the removal guys could just not do enough for us. (Mind you we did supply tea with an adequate supply of biscuits)!!
Cannot rate this company highly enough.

Great service
We chose Hackworthy & Sons to move our elderly mum.
The quote we received was very competitive in fact in was one of the better priced quotes we received.
They turned up on time.
Two guys came and packed Mum’s belongings into boxes with care and consideration.
They loaded all her furniture onto their van in exactly the same way and then delivered to her new address.
They were polite and courteous and made the whole experience faultless.
I would definitely recommend Hackworthy & Sons to do your removals.
The two guys that came were a credit to your company.

Had a 2 day full pack and move service
Had a 2 day full pack and move service. The team were excellent. Arrived promptly on the first morning and laboured away all day packing my house up. Nothing was too much trouble. The two man team on day one, were upbeat engaging and high spirited all day which made the whole, daunting process so much more enjoyable. I was left with my bed and tv for my final night which was a nice touch. Day two they were joined by a couple more colleagues to finish the packing and load the last bits onto the van, which was just as seamless as day one.
I moved with 2 cats, and they were so accommodating when it came to which room I would need unloading first so as to create a safe space for the cats when we arrived at the new house.
The service was faultless from start to finish and, aside from the mocking of my gin and shoe collection, the team were amazing! lol 😉
I opted for the key delay fee for peace of mind so wouldn’t fall foul of any unexpected delays.
Would highly recommend Hackworthy & Sons to anyone who was considering a move and strongly suggest opting for their full pack and move service.

Nothing was too much trouble, Ollie, Glynn and the team worked tirelessly to make sure our family house move was a smooth as possible, even with a few complications (not theirs!) on moving day. We received excellent service from beginning to end.
Reg, who carried out the initial home visit went to great lengths to put our minds at ease regarding the ‘big day’.
The two day move was carried out with great care to ensure our property arrived safely and, at our new home, was placed exactly where we needed it.
A massive thankyou to the two men who did the move. They worked extremely hard and at times in the most awful weather conditions.
Would highly recommend Hackworthy every time.

Friendly and helpful.
I was moving away from Devon so needed a 2 day booking. I had several clocks, a small piano which was upstairs and a great deal of "stuff". All was moved quickly and efficiently. Very friendly and helpful staff.
